@@astrorick2910 Mostly, lack of help from some other programmers, and lack of time. I couldn't continue being the only developer on it, it was simply too much of a commitment.

Coretteket, as you can see from the description of the video, there is a website linked there, which is the official website of this project. If you go there, you can see that it is an Open Source community project, which means that the source codes are also available and any programmer can take a look and see that there is no malicious piece of code inside it. Also, we have a forum there, where programmers from our team and regular users discuss about this project. Feel free to take a look, no one ever complained about viruses and any malicious behavior.

Greetings! I am currently installing this lovely piece of software. I was wondering what kind of features are currently implemented into it?
LazerCreeper HD Well, the program is composed of two pieces: the core part, that makes the shell replacement and adds basic functionalities, like the taskbar, the system tray, the clock, etc, and the second part which is made up of aditional programs that are not necessarily needed for the terminal to run (like the consoles, etc). There are quite a few programs developed in this section, some of them are complete, some of the unfinished yet.

what would be awesome is that if ypou could have like multiple variants of the LCARS. the 23rd century LCARS (from TMP), TNG LCARS, voyager LCARS, DS9 LCARS, then last but not least, the current LCARS we have, bieng the 25th century LCARS, the one from Star Trek Online.
If we are updates LCARS to the 25th century, we could traveling to 32nd century to study ship systems.

You could place a shortcut to the executable file in the Startup folder of Windows.
rusoaica okay i did get it to start but then i had to install some updates on my computer just reset computer back to 8.1 from Windows 10 because it was lagging but this seems really cool thanks for sharing this software.

Nothing, you just run the LcarsTerminal.exe file

Hello! It is actually a processed version of the alarm used on the Nostromo space ship in the original Alien movie, during the auto destruct countdown.
@@rusoaica But I heard the exact same sound in the Voyager episode Fury when the warp core was shutting down. Either way, I like that alarm, could you give me a link to the sound file assuming that you still have access to it?
@@barrettross3772 I am sorry, I assumed wrong on your previous question and did not actually check what sound you referred to. The one at 22:46 definitely comes from Voyager, but unfortunately, i do not remember what is its name, nor where i collected it back then. Most sounds i gathered from other trekkie sites that offered the sounds, like trekcore.com/audio, and some of them i plainly recorded from the tv shows and phase inverted the audio to clean the background music or noise. As for the audio file, unfortunately, i can't help you very much either, the above program had some sounds embedded in flash files, so that they can be played via key frames and scripts. The sound you are referring to is embedded in a flash file located in the above programs directories at \FLASH\000017 path. Despite being a file without an extension, it is actually a .swf file that was created using a program called SWiSH Max. I guess you could still download it, drop that file inside it and export the embedded sound file.

Whats the difference between this LCARS and LCARS 47?
budddyboy100 LCARS is an acronym, it stands for "Library Computer Access and Retrieval System" and is the graphical display on the Star Trek consoles and displays. LCARS 47 is just a program trying to emulate that interface.
rusoaica you haven't really clarified - if LCARS 47 is a program emulating that interface, then what is yours? an OS?
FatNinjaWalrus no, the Terminal is also a program trying to emulate that interface. He basically asked "whats the difference between and ? There is a car object (LCARS), and different implementation of that object, like Volkswagen (LCARS 47, LCARS Terminal, LCARS x32, etc).

No, unfortunately not. Due to the lack of interest in the program and no other programmers to help, the project is now closed.

The website in the description also hosts the source codes project, so everyone with VB.NET programming skills can just pick up and continue it, and I have nothing against it.

Hi, Sinbad! The program requires some libraries to run, and most probable reasons for not running is the absence of a library, for example, Macromedia Flash. Second, the program was never finished, so, there are modules that work flawlessly, and modules that were still under development, or were buggy.
As for the site being down, yes, I am transferring it to a new host these days, and there seems to be some problems and delays. Hopefully, all will get back soon..

also, i'd like to suggest somehting, bieng able to have an LCARS design based on the 2409 setting, basicly the style of Star Trek Online with all the new ships STO has, would be great if my PC ran on LCARS and that i see a hestia class starship blueprint with all decks shown on the main engineering display.

I know. The project has been discontinued, due to lack of interest and help. I cannot program it myself alone, i have a life too.. it is an exe file, and the additional files it requires, packed in a winrar archive

Barrett Ross That file you downloaded is a Winrar archive file. You need to install either Winrar, 7Zip or any other program that can extract winrar archives. After you extract the files inside, you can start the program by running the file LcarsTerminal.exe
Abandoned like everything else i came across.
Yeah, well, I kept it going for a few years, for free, out of my own time, and not many people were interested in it, so, I've done my part.
Whoever complains about it being abandoned, are very much welcomed to continue it's development themselves, the source codes are available and i explicitly gave my permission to be used by anyone however they please.
