Sorry Chelsea I love TFD and I’ve been watching you since having my first job maybe 5 years ago. I think the Financial Confessions is undoubtedly one of the most helpful insightful and real piece of content on this platform and I hope you and the team reevaluate retiring it. We do understand wanting to discuss other content and I’m sure we’ll love that too but the kind of real life examples and relatability that comes from The financial confessions is extremely helpful to us common folk
hard agree. i may have not lived as a common folk, but it genuinely helped me emphasize and understand the problem solving between keeping these entry minimum wage jobs vs seeking other opportunities and when it's time to discuss financial decisions with your partner like schooling or labor distribution.
I really hope you bring back Financial Confessions soon tho!! There were a lot of great nuggets of info in that podcast. I also feel like the pop culture hot takes content is becoming totally oversaturated on TH-cam, tik tok, etc so it’s hard to feel like any of those videos or episodes are adding anything
Love that you said we need to stay engaged. Watching the CEOs parading on tv this morning gloating about having no regulation should be eye opening to anyone watching.
What are some practical ways we can stay engaged? All I'm getting now are near constant emails from democrat politicians telling me to "fight" by contributing to their personal 2026 election campaigns. After donating so much to political campaigns just a few months ago I don't really have appetite for that. It just seems like trump is going to do whatever trump is going to do for the next two years no matter how much I donate to Elizabeth Warren, and Warren will likely get reelected without my meager contributions. Any practical advice is welcomed. I do have a standing monthly donation to Emily's list, which I figure can be used in the nearer term for special elections and things, idk.
A while back, I read a listicle that was something along the lines of "things bridesmaids should not say to the bride." One item on the list was expressing budget concerns. Even back then, I had a sense that something was wrong with stigmatizing a bridesmaid for expressing VALID budget concerns. A bridesmaid's budget concern is a very valid concern, so expressing it should not be stigmatized.
Yeah, I feel like bridesmaids should only have to purchase and alter the dress they'll be wearing, and volunteer their time to help the bride plan the wedding, do DIY's etc. If you truly can't afford the dress, just gracefully decline the offer to be a bridesmaid. All these international trips (especially the ones where the bride expects the maids to cover everything for her including airfare) are just gross to me. Unless you're all millionaires, it's too much. People have been brainwashed to believe that these luxuries are necessary for a good wedding. First it was the tv shows like say yes to the dress where consultants would grimace if the budget was less than $5k, and now it's social media. This level of spending is just not normal for the middle class.
@@rachelmaddowswife8713 I even think that whenever the bride wants someone else to wear something specific (instead of any formal wear, that's normal for a wedding), specific hair/make-upe etc., she should pay for it. I would not even dream of having my friends pay lots of money for dresses that they only wear once - only to look nice on ONE photo that I probably don't even hang on my wall. Not worth it, my friends could wear whatever they liked. My friend group photo may not be as pinterest-worthy but so what? And expecting your friends to pay a holiday for you is just crazy.
21:21 this is the message…..filter your news, getting your finances in order and limit some of your social media consumption. We deserve to have some happiness in this life and being constantly engaged in the circus isn’t good for any of us. Be well everyone.
Excellent and vital point about local politics. The majority of our day-to-day living conditions - education, housing, transport, etc. - are determined by state legislatures and city councils, and not by Congress or the Presidency. We must all get more involved in learning more about local politics (not that national politics don't matter - they obviously do for immigration and foreign policy - but state/local policies determine a big portion of our economic circumstances).
I’m a member and I would love a glorious return of TFC. Even if they have to be delayed for general release as a perk one month or whatever, I would love for that to return to your roster
If I’m in your wedding party and I’m paying for my own dress and travel. I’m not buying you a present; my presence is your present. My labour is your present
My fiancé and I are having a pretty lowkey wedding, no big bachelor/ette trips or parties, and we feel exactly this way because we know a significant portion of our guests are going to have to take time off and/or travel just for the actual wedding day (in the city we live in, not even some destination wedding). We don’t live in a romantic/buddy-comedy world - all of our guests have other obligations and it’s just an honor to us that they even make the effort to be there.
In the UK the bride will usually cover the cost of the bridesmaid dresses which is why we don't tend to ask every woman we've ever met to be in our bridal parties. We don't usually have an open bar though so swings and roundabouts. No one wants to see what happens to British people at an open bar...
We didn't do bridesmaids or groomsmen, but we did have a few close friends/family serve as our helpers (take photos, set-up, run the music). We thanked them by treating them to bachelor/bachelorette activities. I honestly, can't believe that the couple doesn't pay for those events and instead requires their wedding party cover the costs.
City hall for the wedding, basement multi-use room room in our apartment building for the reception that we decorated ourselves. Local small vendors for finger food. Few bills, low stress.
I think even being up front about what you’re comfortable spending money wise can be really helpful in friendships, even friends you don’t see very often. I live far away from a lot of friends and I’ve found that when they come to visit, it’s really important to discuss finances and how much we are comfortable with eating out vs cooking at home and what we expect to spend when we do eat out. We’ve all been at different points in our careers and even earning in different currencies, so times when we’ve tried to assume what is and isn’t affordable for others has just led to unnecessary stress on what should be a fun catchup trip
Retiring the Financial Confessions which featured a lot of real fascinating people in order to churn out more pop culture originated stuff is a shame. I've listened to the Gilmore girls episode, and I prefer to hear from the nurse or a lawyer than some two media ladies bantering about a TV show. Who even cares.

American notions of splitting the check in half are just crazy to me. Each person pays for what they ordered. Period. This is the normal way to do this.
@@scottbuck1572everywhere between friends, I’ve been on dates with men from a wide variety of countries and I’ve never been asked to split the check so 🙃

The obligations were to walk the aisle with me, dress formally in the colour scheme, and smile in photos. The optional things were attending any pre-wedding celebrations/events, etc. I explicitly wrote that I don’t want them spending money on my day and I don’t want gifts - the best gift would be for them to accept the title and walk the aisle. It was really important to me that my friends don’t spend excessively whatsoever for my day
Retiring financial confessions for episodes behind a paywall is a bit bonkers. Do TH-camrs consider the fact that folks dont want to subscribe to multiple members only channels like youre a streaming service 🤔
@Arionlappy there are many youtubers who have zero content behind a paywall. That's one slippery slope I just cant justify going down. Streaming services are one thing, but youtube content is where it's laughably nickel and dimey and it's never going to happen for me.

So as sad as I am that things get put behind paywalls, I have to think that this person's business feels like they need that model to be successful.
I actually prefer to schedule coffee dates as a woman dating, because most men really aren’t worth your TIME - their vibe or looks don’t match up with what you’re looking for and who wants to waste a few hours just for a free meal. You can get plenty of info about their manners, how they treat staff, what kind of coffee shop they chose, are they willing to travel to a shop near you, etc just based on a coffee date alone. You also can easily escape awkward conversation bc coffee takes 10-15 min minimum, you can drop an excuse and leave. You can even bring your dog to a coffee date and run errands/be productive afterwards!
As a man, yep: this is so true. First dates need to be low commitment for everyone so if the vibes are just not there, nobody is feeling like they didn't have their energy matched, regardless of gender
This is my philosophy as well! I have a pretty staunch rule of scheduling coffee or a weekday lunch for a first date. I don’t want to tie up my evening or weekend time for someone I may not like! If I’m particularly interested in someone or I know them IRL, I might suggest happy hour at a restaurant bar because it’s still early enough for other plans and if things are going well you two can make the game time decision to stay for dinner.
I found out that one of my trainers for my flight attendant training class has a side business as being a life coach. She was in her mid-20s at the time. Her social media posts gave major MLM vibes.
I realize you prefer to give more content to your members, but in this economy not all of us can afford to pay those few extra dollars a month. As one of those people I will really miss The Financial Confessions, I loved that podcast
So glad to hear you are doing better and feeling better❤ As far as the wedding topic goes I couldn't reallly relate for a long time because I'm single and most of my family/friends eloped or had small welcoming weddings. However, last year someone who I considered to be my friend but NOW understand she saw me as an acquaintance....showed me what the heck you guys been talking about. People and wedding culture has become pure delusional craziness. I don't understand asking people to pay per plate now or for drinks. If I'm having to come out of pocket a minimum $3000 to attend...why do I have to pay for my food and cocktail after surviving Ohare airport to get to rural KY? I would rather attend a potluck church wedding with punch vs a $150 per plate (guest pays) with cash bar wedding. These weddings are becoming the infamous "birthday dinners" where someone who had a salad with water stuck paying for broke Becky😂 I apologize for not understanding weddings have become the new hustle.
No I totally get it! No one wants to hear it but if you can’t afford it, you can’t afford it. I now feel so embarassed to ask for that type of money, let alone buying a friend a coffee. Weddings take a lot of planning [if theyre huge] so plan to not have the guests foot the bill.
greatly interested in your kpop k-culture finance takes! as a kpop fan of 7yrs+ and an east asian studies major in college (and as an east asian), looking forward to it!
American living abroad in France for almost a decade now. I have so much to say financially and in general if you ever make a video 😂 (and a group of expat friends with tons of stories too)
Great comments on city politics. People need to realize that they can have the biggest impact on local and municipal (city) politics, with much less ability to impact policy at higher levels (state/province or at the federal level). The stuff that affects your life in the most material ways is mostly decided at the municipal level. Get involved in your local Strong Towns group and actually make a difference!
Regarding Article couch, the cushion covers are removable, washable at home, dry flat. I’m very happy with the quality of all of our furniture from them, yay Vancouver BC 😊
Very sad to hear about the Financial Confessions being retired. Real people and their real stories are far more interesting than fictional characters from 20 years ago. I hope your company reconsiders, TH-cam is increasingly getting very irritating to use wirh so many creators either using a members paywall or moving their content off TH-cam entirely to another subscription website
6:04 I thought the whole point of a date is to set aside time to get to know each other regardless of the activity. Why complicate something as simple as quality time.
I recently went on a first date with someone I hadn't even met in person yet, and we just sat in his car chatting. Why people make such a big deal about dates, I don't get. I'm 37 and haven't gone on a date in a restaurant in many many years. Isn't it about the company?
I think it’s a non issue as well. If someone is fine with a coffee or walk date.. cool… If a person prefers a restaurant or activity date that is also cool. There is no hierarchy, just do whatever you want as an individual.
Regarding apathy for politics, I watch a TH-camr (Philip DeFranco) who has summarized this perfectly with a shirt he's made: "You might not f*ck with politics, but politics will f*ck with you" (shirt available both with censhorship and without, lol).
Ooh. Hot take. A walk is not a date. What about a hike? Do the words matter? I mean not a great first date if it's isolated and a stranger, but setting that aside! But if for example it's a mutual friend, dates are a great excuse to try things you both are interested in, like hiking trails, but not motivated to do on your own. And since you tend to hike in the afternoon, if it goes well, you can invite to dinner, and if not, easy out. The best early dates IMO are things that bith people would like to do anyeays, and the company is excuse, and provide natural opportunities to extend or bow out. Also going for a walk at lunch is a great way to get to know someone without the pressure. I guess maybe that's not a date per se. It's an opportunity to get to know a person better to see if both have any romantic interest, but not a date, sure. But I will chalk this one up to New Yorker issues. No I don't care this much. But comments are good for the algorithm, and this seemed like a harmless thing to ramble about. :-)
A picnic could be a great alternative here. You can even have both people bring things to contribute. You can set up an eat in one of the more populated areas of the park then do a bit of trail walking before/after eating. It’s low pressure, low cost, but feels a bit more like an “event” rather than a commute or exercise session
If it's a first date with someone I've never met, I wouldn't feel comfortable going into the woods alone with them. But for a second or third date, or a date with someone you already know, a hike could be great!
I like the idea of a walk as a pre-date, getting to know someone to see if I want to date them. I love to walk and meet friends all the time for walks but want more from someone as a date like the picnic idea above.
I would love to see the K-Drama/K-Pop podcast deep dive. I've been watching K-Dramas for a couple of years now, so much so that I've been learning Korean for 2 years so I could understand K-Dramas without subtitles. And while I'm not a K-Pop "girlie" I do love BTS lol.
Speaking about the first question on dating: I'd probably, as a woman, try to be careful about openness on my finances. Too many men want to take advantage of women and would try to exploit this situation. Maybe I'd say I'm just extremely frugal for ethical reason, as a challenge, or whatever, and come clean later when I know the person better.
I think it's essential to emphasize the importance of diversification and risk management. Many people are scared of the stock market because they don't understand it
I was skeptical at first, but investing in the stock market has been a game-changer for me. I've been able to pay of my credit card and start building wealth
Love your take on the savings account! Personally I keep $5k in a high yield savings (since that amount usually covers anything that would need to be paid out within 3-5 business days), and the rest in index funds (which are able to be paid out from my checking in about 4-5 business days). I also like to keep about $1k extra in my checking so there isn’t a timing issue between paychecks and bills.
Re: local politics & the NYC mayoral election, there's an exciting candidate on the left named Zohran Mamdani who seems to be gaining momentum. Running on freezing rent, universal childcare, free buses, and a really cool idea about city-owned grocery stores to lower food prices. Would definitely recommend checking out his campaign!
I'm always flabbergasted that people expect their wedding party to spend thousands of dollars. It's just not a thing here in the Netherlands and Germany. And I don't mean this to be American bashing. I just don't understand it
I blame social media! And I don't get it either. Paying for a dress, maaaybe (though that's already not something I like). But a whole holiday? No way! When did the bachelorette party become a bachelorette trip?
Weddings are getting put pf control expense wise. As for the voter disengagement, i laso feel people in the middle “moderates” have lost most representation and feel unrepresented. Hopefully we will return some type of balance at some point in the future. Love your insightful comments!
If you're looking for ways to engage in local city/state politics, I can't recommend Strong Towns enough. Strong Towns is a bottom-up, grassroots, pro-neighbour organisation that specialises in helping citizens get engaged in their cities and advocate for abundant housing, local/incremental development, zoning code reform, complete streets, and healthy community. They have a number of TH-cam videos you can check out, three different podcasts, and a website with loads of good articles. If you're feeling especially invigorated by current events, Strong Towns can help equip you to begin a Local Conversation in your town, so you can connect with other neighbours!
LOL What is it about people who go to burning man and have life coaches?!?!? I've noticed that tendency too, it's wild. Definitely on my red flag list lol
Maybe Americans need to adopt the European way of things a bit more.... a walk date is considered very normal here. A date is there to get to know someone, why does there need to be food for that? Somethign active is always fun. And get this: absolutely free.
Wow, clicked on this video and walked away with reminder how to survive this shit show you dear neighbours are throwing our way 😂❤ you are correct, constant distracting circus trying to make people look the other way 😢 let’s hope we all survive this
Definitely hear you with the Trump circus. They are already starting with nonsense stuff like renaming the gulf of mexico. It's just to keep in the new and to keep people riled up. its a waste of bandwidth.
I completely miss the connection between a windfall of cash and a life coach. There is a lot of scam in the life coach space and there is some good too. Tread carefully. I would have my money figured out via financial advisor support for sure.
Okay I get being dissapointed about the Financial Confessions, folks, it was one of my favourite podcasts and I also found it very helpful. Is the pop culture thing my vibe? No. But y'all are being rude - this channel owes you nothing and can choose to explore a direction that suits their interests. You can respect what they did and find other content moving forward and that's okay.
I was that easy going easily pleased woman who went on coffee dates. I don't think I ever ended up with men who were all that bothered about me. Single now. Forever
I think a lot of the reasons why people have turned the news off is because it's painful to see that sweet potato in power. I don't even live in the US, but I mentally and emotionally cannot handle what's happening and for my mental health I have to take a step back from social media. It's also so scary to know that people voted for him to be president again.
Please reevaluate the decision to retire the financial confessions. I really looked forward to these podcast episodes, they were incredibly informative.
This is literally so unimportant, but when you put the microphone right in the pit of your throat, it really impacts the sound of the video. But regardless this content was amazing and I love your channel so much.

@borkbork4124 exactly...it has become a hustle because people can't afford what they are planning
Loving your answer about the bridesmaid. 5-10k is absurd.
Even 500 would be absurd in my eyes. Only expense all guests including bridal party should ever have is transport and hotel if necessary.
Wishing you a wonderful 2025 Chelsea!! Thanks for the updates
I love your take on life coaches. There is this guy named Wes Watson who is getting a lot of heat for his coaching services and tall tales.
greatly interested in your kpop k-culture finance takes! as a kpop fan of 7yrs+ and an east asian studies major in college (and as an east asian), looking forward to it!
Adaxum’s focus on real-world applications makes it a standout project. Joined the presale today!
So excited for more TFD x Princess Weekes!!
The contrast between KPop culture and Korean society are immense. I will be fascinated to see your views
Projects like Adaxum are rare. Locked in my position today, and I’m feeling great about it.
Toxic Wedding Culture? Of course, as a South Asian, I have absolutely no exposure to this topic lol
We need your lipstick shade! So pretty ❤
6:04 I thought the whole point of a date is to set aside time to get to know each other regardless of the activity. Why complicate something as simple as quality time.
Buy higher quality items and less of them, and take care of them well. Don't buy on credit, buy in bulk for often used products.
Got into the Adaxum presale after reading their whitepaper. The future looks promising!
This year is the year I’ve decided to finally take control of my finances! 2025 baby
Adaxum’s presale bonuses made it an easy decision for me. Locked in my position early!
Spending that much money on a wedding that isn’t even your own is insane
I think Chelsea emphasized it’s the effort and creativity for a FIRST date/impression.
I like the idea of a walk as a pre-date, getting to know someone to see if I want to date them. I love to walk and meet friends all the time for walks but want more from someone as a date like the picnic idea above.
Yeah just a walk as a date is a little weird: like what, just wander around for like 2 hours? Even if the conversation is good, that's odd
You're a really good talker with lots of insight
I would love to see the K-Drama/K-Pop podcast deep dive. I've been watching K-Dramas for a couple of years now, so much so that I've been learning Korean for 2 years so I could understand K-Dramas without subtitles. And while I'm not a K-Pop "girlie" I do love BTS lol.
If you’re serious about DeFi, Adaxum should be on your radar. Joined the presale for the best deal!
Many people are scared of the stock market because they don't understand it
I agree with you..education is key I've been sharing resources and articles with my friend's to help them learn more about investing
@@Aliyu-v9vI'm so glad i started investing in the stock market...it's helped me pay off my mortgage faster and build a safety net
I completely agree! Investing has allowed me to tackle my debt and start saving for retirement. It's amazing how much of a difference it can make
I was skeptical at first, but investing in the stock market has been a game-changer for me. I've been able to pay of my credit card and start building wealth
I'm so grateful for the financial freedom that investing has given me. I no longer stress about making ends meet or paying off my mortgage
leaving the country during the inauguration - valid
LOL I'm living for the life coach hate! Anyone who is a self-described life coach or empath just runnnn!
To keep an eye on politics I watch Belle of the Ranch here n TH-cam. Well researched, thoughtful, and not click baity.
I'm always flabbergasted that people expect their wedding party to spend thousands of dollars. It's just not a thing here in the Netherlands and Germany.
And I don't mean this to be American bashing. I just don't understand it
We don't understand it in America either😂 I've seen so much bad and crazy...that I promised myself to be a great host when I get married.
I blame social media!
And I don't get it either. Paying for a dress, maaaybe (though that's already not something I like). But a whole holiday? No way! When did the bachelorette party become a bachelorette trip?
now i gotta learn how to clean my article upholster couch. just watched a video from them and they said to spot clean
Your hair is super cute!!
"Affordable and Special" - I think that's a great combination :)
ADX could be one of those slow burners that deliver over time. Secured my tokens early.
7:01 no to life coaches or energy healers 😂
I’m an energy healer that works in trade so not all of us are bad 😂
Adaxum is a portfolio must.
Pinterest is a great place to see ideas on how to store pot lids, etc - many DIY. 🙂
Weddings are getting put pf control expense wise. As for the voter disengagement, i laso feel people in the middle “moderates” have lost most representation and feel unrepresented. Hopefully we will return some type of balance at some point in the future. Love your insightful comments!
Adaxum’s innovative approach to E-commerce integration is a game-changer. Joined the presale today!
Chelsea, run for president.
Türkçe altyazı seçeneği ekler misiniz lütfen 😊
I cant wait to hear you guys financially breakdown kpop.
Adaxum tokens are flying fast!
...you may want to look into staying in France, Trump pardoned an entire militia 😅
The Adaxum presale has been smooth and straightforward. Grabbed my ADX tokens with no hassle!
Half the people that go on Financial Audit with Caleb Hammer are "life coaches" and they are a mess!
Got my position locked in during the Adaxum presale. This project is a no-brainer!
Maybe Americans need to adopt the European way of things a bit more.... a walk date is considered very normal here. A date is there to get to know someone, why does there need to be food for that? Somethign active is always fun. And get this: absolutely free.
Wow, clicked on this video and walked away with reminder how to survive this shit show you dear neighbours are throwing our way 😂❤ you are correct, constant distracting circus trying to make people look the other way 😢 let’s hope we all survive this
I miss financial confessions
Got me some ADX tokens. Adaxum gonna earn me some cash
Windfalll woman needs to get a financial advisor WHO IS FIDUCIARY TO HER.
The potential for Adaxum in the E-commerce space is massive. Glad I got in during the presale!
Adaxum’s focus on real-world solutions sets it apart. Secured my position during the presale.
ADX tokens are the future of E-commerce and DeFi. Glad I got in on the presale early for 2025 gains!
Adaxum might be worth a closer look if you’re into projects with real-world applications.
Rug Pull is theme of 2025
How many millions do I need to drop to become a member? I am a poor socialist in a very expensive city.
This is literally so unimportant, but when you put the microphone right in the pit of your throat, it really impacts the sound of the video. But regardless this content was amazing and I love your channel so much.
Adaxum seems like a solid project, though I’m keeping my expectations in check.
It is easier to be nihilistic and blasé. Being engaged is hard work.
Just locked in my ADX tokens during the presale-excited to see how Adaxum evolves.
$10k to be “part of your dream day” sorry dear the fact that you are even asking is insulting
That's how much I payed for my whole own wedding.
Lmao whatever world that bride lives in, it is NOT the one I reside in. Either she has champagne taste or she exists in a bracket I have never witnessed before.
