That's because the characters, Trent Malloy and Carlos Sandoval were on "Walker, Texas Ranger" in Season 5 and 6 before they got this show. It's a spin-off, but sadly was cancelled due to budget concerns.

Trent and Carlos should've returned to Walker, Texas Ranger teaming up with Cordell, James, Sydney, & Gage for the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons
