Every aspect of this song is just PERFECT. The lyrics, the melody, the singing, the bass, the slide guitar, the organ, the strings, the drumming, the harmony on the last verse, even the Moog synthesizer. It all blends together into the perfect melting pot. Bravo Boys👌💞

You gotta listen to this song at least 6 times:
    1st: George’s lovely vocals
    2nd: George’s perfect lead guitar
3rd: John’s silent yet present rhythm guitar
4th: Paul’s insane bass (personal favorite)

Geoff Emerick wrote in his book that George felt Paul's bass line was too busy. George Martin told him it was brilliant and had to be left as it was. Paul felt it had to be perfect and ran a long bass guitar cord from the amp on the studio floor to the engineer's booth so he could sit and play with the engineers and listen to immediate playbacks.

"George had a smugness on his face when he came in with this one, and rightly so - he knew it was absolutely brilliant. And for the first time, John and Paul knew that George had risen to their level"."Paul started playing a bass line that was a little elaborate, and George told him, 'No, I want it simple.' Paul complied. There wasn't any disagreement about it, but I did think that such a thing would never happened in years past. George telling Paul how to play the bass? Unthinkable! But this was George's baby, and everybody knew it was an instant classic".
    Geoff Emerick

No matter how many times I hear it, that heavenly guitar solo transitioning into Lennon and McCartnet joining in those harmonies will never not send chills down my spine. What a profoundly good song and production. For any other band this would be their magnum opus. For The Beatles it was one of probably 50 life changing songs. These guys were on such a higher plane than anyone else.

    Lyrics :
Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how
Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how
You're asking me will my love grow
    I don't know, I don't know
You stick around, now it may show
    I don't know, I don't know
Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

Over a Labor Day gathering my niece asked her uncles what would be a great song to dance to at her upcoming wedding. One said a U2 song, another Billy Idol ... you get the picture. When it was my turn, I quickly and without hesitation said, Something. She replied, who sings that song? I said, The Beatles. At her wedding this past Saturday ... after dinner, some drinks and dancing, unexpectedly the DJ started a montage of all the songs her uncles bestowed upon her. One by one she called each uncle to the dance floor as their song started and grooved to the music for maybe a minute or so. When I realized I was last, I waited for Ringo's drum lead-in and the calling of my name. I proudly walked to my niece and we danced to the entire song :). An epic ending to the start of a great family tradition. Best Day Ever, Thanks George !! --- A&R M October 3rd, 2021 Providence, RI

Damn, I keep listening to this, because this mix just highlights how PERFECT this song is on every level.
-The lyrics are desperately heartfelt and poetic.
-The lead vocal is sweet and straightforward.
    -The background vocals are heavenly.
-The lead guitar is emotional and effective in a minimalist way.
-The bass line is basically a counterpoint masterpiece.
-The drumming is tasteful and understatedly powerful.
-The organ and string arrangement are brilliantly soulful.
I'm just saying, y'all. Nothing in rock music will ever top THiS. Nothing.
