- Ray explains exactly how to properly scratch rivets and also reveals which abrasion products he uses in his shop while the team completes the second of 2 nearly identical trucks in a row.
I am not a bodyman. But I enjoy watching someone do there job right. Hice Job
Well I certainly appreciate that, Buddy!
I have been in transport for 45 years. I think you do amazing work. Well done.
Thank you very much! I certainly appreciate it.
I enjoy watching your videos! I like how you explain your process with a passion "without arrogance". Watching this video help me with how you deal with the huck bolts. I've been following TwinStick Garage and watched him fight sanding his Smoking and the Bandit truck. Now he is working on his Peterbuilt called Little by Little. I'm going to pass your video on to him. Thank you and have a wonderful day. Peace
Well thank you very much, my friend! And thanks for subscribing as well!
You give very precise instruction and reasoning behind how you work. I’ve done paint prep in RV factories. I’d have a full day just putting on masking tape. I’ve also been a residential painting contractor. Never actually done the automotive based finishes, the painter I apprenticed under really was full of himself and would train me. I do notice you use single stage paints. And your black frame paint is in a hose line, so drum based.
That black paint is the same black I use for anything I paint black...including frames. When I'm going to shoot anything over a gallon of paint in one setting...I often use my 2.5 gallon pressure pot...which has 50 feet of air and fluid line with it. That's what you are seeing when I shoot chassis or other paint intensive things. I will still opt for a quart cup most times on cabs and hoods to minimize dirt exposure though. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for another great post! Man we gotta get more subscribers for this channel! Insane you don’t have 10x this many
I definitely appreciate your vote of confidence, my friend! I've had this channel up for 2 years now...and my first 50+ videos were only getting double digit views. I have known all along that this was going to be an endeavor... but I have always figured...What's it gonna hurt?... Ya know?... I'm doing the work regardless...Might as well film it as well and see what happens! Thanks a lot...and thanks for subscribing as well!
Thanks for the teaching
And thank you for your viewership!

Why, Thank you very much, my friend!
Great job as usual! Can't wait to see the W9 with the poor paint
We definitely have that in common! I'd love to have it done as well!. Right now, however...we're standing at base camp looking clear up that mountain into the clouds. THIS ONE IS A HANDFULL FOR SURE! Thanks a lot, my friend!
Great job. Love the discipline. Nice outcomes.👍
Hey thank you very much! I appreciate it.
Another great job
Thank you so much!
Ive had 2 of those easy keen washers (we wore the first one out) they are great machines. With the rotating head they will blow paint off anything
This one has worked great so far. It now looks like a completely different truck!
Awesome as usual 👍👍👍
Thank you so much , My friend!
Nice work!
Hey thanks a lot!
Great job guy's on getting the 2001 kenny W900 painted and looking great. I have a question, why don't ur guy's paint under the fenders?
I've never had a single owner ask about it...and it makes no difference to me...so I never end up doing it. Thanks a lot!
Nice gob.
Many many thanks
Nice work ! I noticed you don’t use the spray gun with the cup on the top ? I think it’s called gravity feed. Curious on your thoughts about sprayguns.
A quarter century ago...I started shooting paint originally using an old used Binks model 18 gun. That is a rock solid old school gun...but I eventually wore it completely out. I replaced it with another and also used an old Binks model 7 for heavier primers and thicker coatings. When I wore them out...I went to a Binks model 2001. It was decent...but I eventually gave gravity feed HVLP guns a try in the past as well. Not only were the cups way too small for the things I tend to shoot...but I found that the top mounted cup was always getting in the way when I was shooting chassis and other complicated things like oil and water drilling rig derricks. I abandoned that concept almost immediately. While I have has some success with a few DeVillbiss guns in the past as well...I have mostly stuck with the Binks brand. Nowadays, I use a Binks model 2100 for my siphon gun and a different style of Binks 2100 made specifically for pressure pot applications. They are affordable enough and fairly durable...plus I have a ton of extra parts for them. Thanks a lot, Buddy!
@@teams.t.e.a.m6214 hey thanks for the info .all makes sense to me . Really appreciate your time !
How do you like the easy kleen washer? They are built about 90 minutes from me just outside Sussex New Brunswick,Canada.
So far I like it. I've only put in a few sessions with it...but it seems to be working just fine. It's powerful...I know that. It'll blow you right off the top of a ladder if you aren't careful. One of my local customers has one that they have put a bunch of hours on and they say it's been reliable.
Do you use an airless sprayer to paint the frames?
No, I use a 2.5 gallon pressure pot.
What kind of paint do you use? Delfleet, imron, ?
A 2K urethane from PPGs light industrial coatings line called AUE 360 is what I shoot on almost everything. Here, that is what the white is. The blue is a Nason 2K urethane. Nason is owned by the same company...called Axalta...that also owns Imron. Their paint numbers almost always jive with each other.
Where and what is the auction called
The auction company is called Taylor & Martin. The next auction date that will feature a few of this outfits trucks will be on March 28th. It will be held in Colorado in the parking area of the Bandimere Drag Strip. This truck...as well as the last few we've done and the next one we'll do... should be there.
Did he paint right over epoxy primer without sanding 🤔
Not really sure what you mean by that. The particular epoxy primer I use allows you 3 days grace period before a resand is required. As long as I'm within that window...I don't have to sand it.
