I use a polycarbonate called Soft lite on my greenhouses. It is made by Amerilux. If you fasten the roof panels on in the valleys you will find the wind doesn't cause as much problem. Just place your fastener in the middle of the valley. You will not have roof leakage doing it this way. The fasteners at the top and bottom of each panel should be in each valley. Go every other valley for any purlins between the peak and eve.
Thank you for making this video, it was just what I was looking for to build a garden shed/greenhouse combo. Your video has given me he confidence to do it myself now. Simple and effective!
Predrilling the sheets does not only save you time, it is absolutely necessary for polycarbonate sheets. You should be predrilling your holes slightly larger than your screws to allow for contraction and expansion. Great looking tiny greenhouse!
Absolutely, of all the tips I've been reading in recent days this is something I've read on numerous occasions. Another thing that is key is to ensure you place the fixings at the highest points of the corrugation. This is as water should, assuming you have a pitch about 5 degrees, never sit here and leaks will not be an issue. I'm currently looking at a polycarbonate roof for my conservatory, so not corrugated. However, having researched numerous brands I am unsure as to whether I should turn to Axiome for my polycarbonate sheets. I've found brilliant prices at www.roofingmegastore.co.uk/polycarbonate-roofing-sheet-axiome.html and have read many great things about Axiome polycarbonate. I would, however, appreciate your feedback!?
Sorry, I am in the US. I have no idea on pricing. It looks like it is UV protected since they say it has a 10 year life expectancy, but again, I have never heard of the brand.
This is a great sized greenhouse! I have a small allotment garden and I’ve been looking for this exact style. I am trying to repurpose wood and polycarbonate l have and will purchase what l need to complete it. Thanks for the inspiration!
I just came across this one, it's 3 years old. Nice job, I can't wait to see how it turned out lol. I really need to go all the way back and binge watch the others.
It's looking really good. You weren't kidding when you said your drill as falling apart. It sounding like it was making a strange electrical humming noise. Your kids are so cute. Great video :) Thanks for sharing.
Another great video. I have been thinking of using the polycarbonate for part of a chicken coop additions and a car port slash green house, but it isn't cheep. looks good. Going to check to see if you have a video on it complete. Blessings
You did a very good job, i have the panels around my carport (storage), not secured , good idea predrilling holes , I want to use the area for my plants, tks for the ideas maybe I can figure out the best way to get it done.
Just now seeing this video...Am planning to build a greenhouse similar to what you did. How has it worked for you over the years? How has the ventilation from not putting the purlins in on the sides worked out? Awesome video. THanks
I just about died "I was just thinking about how...I wish it was on sale". I was just looking at prices online before watching this video...get out of my head!
Hey I got a question for you, how warm will be inside in the winter? I want to build one like yours to protect my orange trees in Canada’s freezing winter, do you think this will work?
I had this done by a contractor and the panels from the roof keep blowing away in high winds.very dissappointed. I realize that he left all of them overhanging a lot,so the wind gets under them and blow them away. I think It needs to be cut to size and secured really well
Yes and probably too much. If I did it again I would choose a more diffused plastic. Clear plastic allows very harsh light rays through and creates a lot of heat and shadows. A more diffused light would give a better light for the plants.
Thank you for the video. How are the corners finished where the two wall panels meet? Did you use a bead of silicone or just left the panel ends touching?
What brand of sheeting did you buy suntuf plus is what's recommended for greenhouses here but it doesn't look like it's available for domestic use but they do have a product called suntuf clear I have no idea how it would work in a greenhouse
Lerrrrrv it! How that compare to the harbor freight setup? I feel like hf was annoying, and not super “durable”. And plus, you only need 3 clear sides?
Hi Doug n Ashley, Lol I’m watching most of your older videos all wrong!! I’ve already seen this greenhouse done inside n out and here I am watching you build it 😂. Hey whatever works, right? Lol. I love this little greenhouse btw. ❤
Solid video! Parenting tip- if your kids mispronounce words. Please repeat the word properly "oh you brought him over" they will thank you for it when they're older. Not trying to sound rude, but it will help your kids. You have quite the life, enjoy!
Thanks. We always correct them when they misspeak, except while recording a video, but rather afterwards as not to put them on the spot unnecessarily. We don't want to embarrass them, but we do correct them.
Hi, Nice job on the Greenhouse, Parenting tip - don't let your kids grow up to be nit-picking grammar fundamentalists like some of the commenters here. Not trying to be rude, but it will help your kids.
That's just how TH-cam was back then. We were all just figuring out how to edit and what worked and what didn't. You'll see a lot of new channels still making these mistakes still. But it was more common then. You have to start somewhere..
Not at all, I prefer the ones without obnoxious loud music drowning out the dialogue! If you have to have music in your DIY videos, just wear headphones :)
That looks great! Can't wait to see it finished with plants growing. Good job so far!
Yea, we hope it all works out! :) Thanks!
Going back to your old videos and enjoying them!
Same! Love them!
Nice tips on cutting: the tape to protect the material, stacking to cut them all at once, and fine tooth blade!

I like the plastic spacers , you two are doing a great job !!! Thanks for sharing .
Thanks for the compliment. We'll have more greenhouse videos coming soon.
Do they sell those plastic spacers with the polycarbonate panels? Belle is so precious. I loved caterpillars, too. I never see them in Florida.
Just ran across this treasure!!! Love seeing the kids at this age☺️
Looking good! I never did pre-drill. I let the screws do the cutting. I would use less translucent for roof, as it gets very hot in the summer time.
Don’t need it in the summer though, no?
You did a great job! The greenhouse came out beautiful. You have a beautiful family.
I just came across this one, it's 3 years old. Nice job, I can't wait to see how it turned out lol. I really need to go all the way back and binge watch the others.
I never knew that you built a greenhouse! How cool is that!
Thanks for sharing this!

Great video :) Thanks for sharing.
Yea, the drill has seen better days. lol. Thank you so much :) :)
Guys! It is coming together so fast! :) Great work Doug you're a real craftsman! (Your camera angles are so fun too!)
Yea, it's moving along quick. Thanks!! We wanted this video to have a lot of artsy, fun shots in it. I'm glad you liked it!! Thank you =)

It does cost more up front but it should last a long time. Thank you.
Thanks I’m ready to build something similar.
if it's not sealed up, i'm afraid it's not going to keep the cold out.
Making a squirrel enclosure to release my Buddy ASAP. Hopefully this’ll help us.🥰👍🏽
Very good 👍 job

Thank you =)
This is awesome. Whit you could have taken it to your new property
I just about died "I was just thinking about how...I wish it was on sale". I was just looking at prices online before watching this video...get out of my head!
Could you provide more information on the spacers that you used?
They sell em just below the sheet at the stores. Pre spaced etc. Home Depot had 5/$8 in there version yesterday

make sure they are fastened down well and remove any edges that overhang too much! the wind will just rip them off
Aluminum edging prevents that and acts at a drain ramp/gutter
Great how-to video, thanks. Sub’d & Bell’d
that looks great
good job and a storm door would probably work well for your door
Yea, we thought of using a storm door. We have to see if we can get a good deal on one. Thanks. :)
A question: With this clear roofing material, does it allow for all the necessary sun rays to pass through for good plant growth? Thanks.
Yes and probably too much. If I did it again I would choose a more diffused plastic. Clear plastic allows very harsh light rays through and creates a lot of heat and shadows. A more diffused light would give a better light for the plants.
Have you thought about using a Scotch-Brite pad or something of that nature to scuff up the panels, you might get better light diffusion
great job
Thank you.

Beautiful ty
try a habitat restore for the door
Nice work!! greatings from Danmark
Lerrrrrv it! How that compare to the harbor freight setup? I feel like hf was annoying, and not super “durable”. And plus, you only need 3 clear sides?
Great job. Has it worked as you envisioned? Can you post a picture of the completed project?
We didn't get to use the greenhouse much so it's hard to say how good it does.
very good
Wow, you guys look so young. I started watching your videos maybe last year or the year before. Good video thanks!
Nice job!
Hi Doug n Ashley,
Lol I’m watching most of your older videos all wrong!!
I’ve already seen this greenhouse done inside n out
and here I am watching you build it 😂.
Hey whatever works, right? Lol.
I love this little greenhouse btw. ❤
How many years are you expecting out of that plastic? Thanks.
The polycarbonate has a limited 20 year warranty. We are not sure how long it will actually last, but hopefully a long time.
Have these yellowed over time?
Is that the new 2 story Menards off Indianapolis Blvd? If so, I didn't know you guys lived that close to me!
It's the Menards in Kokomo. :)
Hi I am planning to build a 10X 6. did u use treated wood at the base ?
All the material looks a bit greenish, so its probably treated. Or maybe because its a "greenhouse". :)
where is the door?
Wooden greenhouses rot. I want to build mine on the patio but the patio tends to flood...….
Yep, that's why we used pressure-treated wood :)
Any leaks? I want to build a similar style. Thanks
No leaks
hi there. how about some videos on what your wife cooks for your family. frugal meals. love your videos and content. take care
Are you sure this is not PVC?
Yes, but there are PVC panels on the market that are similar. We like poly-carbonate better than PVC.
we are the pc sheet factory@@diyfferent
Very nice project. What kind of screws did you use especially for the roof to prevent leakage? Thanks. I'm enjoying your videos. New sub.
They are metal pole barn screws. They have a rubber washer gasket on them that squishes for a good seal. Thanks for subscribing!
Solid video!

Great video BUT VERY annoying music! WHY ?
That's just how TH-cam was back then. We were all just figuring out how to edit and what worked and what didn't. You'll see a lot of new channels still making these mistakes still. But it was more common then. You have to start somewhere..
There's no door
Not in this video, but we showed installing it here: th-cam.com/video/-dllQGfDDSw/w-d-xo.html
I have in installed polycarbonate roof in my pergola, it started leaking after 2 months. What a waste of money!!!
Music in a DIY video with people speaking, is an automatic fail.
Not at all, I prefer the ones without obnoxious loud music drowning out the dialogue! If you have to have music in your DIY videos, just wear headphones :)
Dude, please buy a truck.
Where is your door to get in?
We show it here: th-cam.com/video/-dllQGfDDSw/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=211
