    Channing said it "Stop coddling these players". Caitlin Clark has to mature to the level of the WNBA. Caitlin is not an elite player. She is an elite shooter. Now she is playing against and with elite players. Stop complaining and earn your stripes. So people want more fouls called, that should include Caitlin pushoff move during her jump shot.
    Time will tell. Trust the process and allow the transition take its course.

    Great commentary Ryan and Chan but I have to say, a huge point of backlash that Harrison Butker is receiving is based on the precedent set from the league’s treatment of Colin Kaepernick. Regardless of what people say about him wanting back into the league, at the time of his bravery, he was a top 5/10 QB, that led a team to the Super Bowl and ultimately lost his job. Whereas Butker is allowed to speak his divisive messaging and keep his job. I’m also no fool in realizing that Kaep chose to take his stance during games whereas Butker’s display was away from the game.

    • @melindaostergren8115
      @melindaostergren8115 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Thank you for your comment. I’m going to have to think about it more. First, I believe that CK’s protests cost him so much is because, as a Black man he was actively protesting police brutality in a way that disrupted the comfort of a largely white audience. Saying truth to power often generates a response from power to the riff raffle who dare to make white folk uncomfortable. It didn’t help that TFG inserted himself into the commentary in his usual opportunistic way.
      If CK had been at Mahomes’ level the cynic in me believes that some way would have been found to smooth things over. The token (imo) responses wouldn’t have worked in the same way.
      Regarding the kicker: he’s a conservative Catholic at a conservative Catholic school spouting the expected conservative dogma. Absent social media no one would know. Personally I’m completely disgusted by his beliefs; as a woman I spent my career fighting against these sorts of views. It was exhausting and ongoing yet I succeeded. I’ve sometimes wondered just how much easier it would have been as a man. And I’m a highly privileged white woman. His comments made me sick because I had to fight against his kinds of sexist views for 4 decades.
      And, relatively speaking, I had an easy path compared to my Black friends. Repeatedly, “ I got my job because I’m a woman.”
      All of THEM only got their jobs because they weren’t white and so of course they couldn’t possibly be competent. It always fascinated me that I was disparaged due to gender, but THEY were disparaged because of race and regardless of gender. And I was in generally “progressive “ job sites.
      My experiences were tiring and tiresome but they were nothing compared to my friends who didn’t fit into the US classification.

He told women graduating from college that what they should be thinking of is becoming homemakers. Then, he proceeded to justify his statement by talking about his wife. Totally disrespectful to women who have their own dreams and ambitions. It's also alienating women who may be LGBTQ or unable to have kids. All of these women have worked hard four years or more to get closer to their dreams. It's not cool for any man to tell a woman what her dreams should be. I said what I said.

    I agree with everything Ryan said, except that we are free to be whoever or whatever we want to be. A huge part of being Christian is to be obedient and faithful to the Word of God. We all have a calling, we just have to be willing to accept our call from God and live according to the lessons and principles that he established in the Word. That does not mean we can just do what we want and simply say we are made in his image. Otherwise, great and insightful conversation.

    Not pro abortion but pro women! Abortion is wrong but refusing medical health to a woman who has had a miscarriage because you think she had an abortion is also wrong. This debate has gotten out of hand. It should been a simple abortion is murder, however it didn’t go that way so now that it is…STOP trying to penalize women for what men did!

    While I completely agree with your assessment of Buckner’s speech, how does this mindset compare to Collin Kapernick’s views on racial injustice? How do we justify his alienation from the game he loves to Buckner being embraced by it? It gives me pause knowing we’ll never see equality as it should this side of heaven.

    Nepotism is not okay. It is when you work good but to get all that just because you know or are related to someone sucks because someone else deserved that spot. Especially in sports it's all ticket sales.
