    Thank you your update on the Y pipe. New Subscriber. I just purchased a White 2007 4Runner with the 4.7 V8 with 99,890 miles. I'm watching every one of your videos pertaining to your 4Runner and giving you a thumbs up on all. Please keep up the great videos. I live in The Woodland. Best.

      It definitely gave it a better intake flow, sound and a little more spunk. You can’t really notice a substantial power gain but it does have a little more on the top end.

    Thanks for posting the vid, watched before making the purchase and damn it pairs nicely with my gibson catback and K&N air intake on my 04 v6. Sounds great and i can feel the difference, hoping after a few weeks to a month ill notice a slight boost in my mpgs. Had a leak in the stock y-pipe and figured may as well replace it.

Also what state are you in where you able to pass inspection I really want to do this becouse I have a leak somewhere and I think this would fix it but don’t want to do it if it won’t pass inspection? Love the vid, my dude. Looking at doing a y-pipe as well, because our '06 exhaust is getting a little leaky from rot. We've also got the lovely cracked exhaust manifold, so we'll probably be going with Doug Thorley's. It doesn't look like the rust on your 4th gen is too bad, are you in the south?
    Edit: I just noticed your Texas plates... yep that explains it haha. We're in Massachusetts so everything's rusted to shit here.

    I like the look of your AFE CAI in place of the air box/ resonator. I bought the AFE dry filter for my 03 Sport V6 a few years back. It’s easy to clean and seems to be working ok. Performance and mileage haven’t changed though.
    I doubt the CAI has any real world benefits to our trucks useful power band but I like the look and the resonator box is obnoxiously huge (although it does quiet the intake noise considerably). I always thought the 4.0 looks much better with the intake manifold exposed and probably would run cooler in the heat.
    Can you pass smog test with the Y-pipe/dual cat delete? No issues with the O2 sensors & ECM sans cats? The mpg gain is impressive if accurate but for me personally not acceptable if the truck pollutes more. I try to be an environmentally responsible 4wheeler.
    Liked & subbed. Your videos are well filmed, well narrated and very entertaining.

    Throttle body spacer does nothing. Only intake runner spacer will make a difference on the 1grfe . Also ability to tune , such as the software or UCON URD sells

    • @airsoftmechanic

      lukestoyz The throttle body spacer helps keep the low end torque. I’ve heard about the manifold spacer but didn’t hear much about it. Curious to see what the results are from another owner’s perspective

      @lukestoyz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Airsoft Mechanic checkout extremetruckperformance.com/ for the 1grfe. The plenum spacer Will help move your torque down lower in the power curve. The reason the TB spacer doesn’t work properly is because your motor has a butterfly valve inside the plastic intake plenum to choose between short and long fuel runners going into the motor. Disrupting any swirling effect of the TB spacer. I have ran this spacer on both naturally aspirated and supercharged trucks. It seemed more noticeable on the stock truck with exhaust

      Airsoft Mechanic I’m assuming you’re referring to the fuel economy readout from the OEM dashboard system and not by calculating it on your own. My dash mpg readout has never read that high. Do you do a lot of highway driving? Even when I take long trips, best I get is about 19mpg.
      Btw, Carfax has a free app to track your maintenance and even calculate mpg that works pretty well. It’s called myCARFAX.

  • @tommys2979

    "Improving" exhaust flow on an engine that is still stock is pretty pointless. Increasing horsepower doesnt increase mpg...hp is gained on an exhaust by letting more gas out at more rpm. When youre running higher rpm to acheive that hp. Guess what youre not getting better fuel mileage...unless youre screaming at peak rpm everywhere you drive or your engine has been modified to where it NEEDS more exhaust flow for higher valve duration, head work, more discplacement etc etc then its stupid to "improve" your exhaust flow on a stock vehicle. Unless you have solid data that this stuff made improvements without even tuning your ecu and that it just isnt in your head it sounds like a stupid way to waste 500 bucks to me...dont let fancy marketing get to you man. You could have cut the 2 rear cats out and put pieces of pipe there for over 10 times cheaper if you wanted to make it soundy raspier for some reason
