Also, now that I think about it, Raymond was also showing the opposite of Pride: Humility. Instead of acting proud that he was given a chance for an appeal, he acts shy and unsure due to knowing that his full redemption won't be completed until he gets his wings and halo. Showing both Virtues freed his soul.
If you read his appeal he really was a nice guy. Took the torture of an old lady and any others he could and prevented torture for a week. Sweet ending!

This was actually really good, and also a good reminder that animation isn't easy. Obviously it's not as polished but that's because the filmmakers don't have Pixar's budget, but even for them, that refinement that makes the animation so seamless doesn't just come together overnight.

Oh my! This was really good. I felt pity for the appellant and anger towards the guard. I was pleased that you did not try to hide faith behind generic cartooning. Whatever the faith is, its part of real life for many. It made me feel even more sympathetic towards the appellant. I was feeling a bit distressed at thinking that perhaps the ending would show that the sinners never get released from bondage yet you did the opposite! So clever! Very well made and just the right amount of humor and drama for a short film. Superb!

Funny enough I had a friend back in elementary and middle school who said I was going to hell because I didn't believe in God or Jesus, didn't matter how kind I was or how much I chose to be a volunteer. At some point, the concept of the Rapture came up in middle school during lunch. And our friend group discussed it. One of the questions was, if the ground beneath most of us fell and we were on the edge would the ones still standing help us up and risk falling. Her answer, she'd only help if I would stop being a Buddhist and then she'd save me. Needless to say I told her, if she was hanging and I had sure footing, I would still attempt to pull her up and risk falling, because I didn't think it was necessary to pledge loyalty to someone in exchange for someone's life. And that it didn't seem like we had the same values and morals and I ended the friendship there. On the flip side, I deepened my friendship with someone who also religious, but had jumped in during the hypothetical question and said, "Why wouldn't you? She's our friend. I'd try to help you up. I'm not strong but if heaven is pulling me up that makes it easier to pull you out. " Your genuine actions are what paves your future.
I think it’s a story on people becoming redeemable. People go through change. The devil did some very good deeds but the angel covered the paper with his finger,not even willing to read the appeal correctly as he speedily scrolls through the papers.
