Shepherd King Duology 🗣️🗣️ its gothic, its romantic, it has found family, unique magic system and world building, excellent underlying themes and IMPECCABLE atmosphere. AND it makes sense as a duology, with book 2 building off of what’s set up in book 1. Pls read it
I came to ensure this recommendation was here 👍❤️ I think Elliot would really appreciate the cool magic system and the way it affects the politics and relationships. The humour, mystery and the balance of plot and romance was perfect (for me) and (I think) to Elliot's taste 😁 xxx
Can you please let me know who the author is? Thank you!! 😊

Rachel Gillig is the author and I loved that duology so I've pre- ordered her new book
so happy six of crows was mentioned🥹 one of my favorite duologies is the rime chronincles by mindee arnett and i never see it talked about!
I loved the first of The Sunken Archive, Letter to the Luminous Deep. It’s like cozy academia, mystery, romance, and fantasy all told through letters that make you adore every character. Never pre-ordered a book before until I found out the sequel comes out in May!
I love Luna Bear photo bombing (or should I call that video bombing) this video. 😀
You’re probably my fav booktuber. Thank you for your recs
Loved the Shepherd King duology!
All The Stars and Teeth is one of my favourite fantasy duologies! The world is so interesting and I adore the characters - I wish it got the same hype as Belladonna! The Sands of Arawiya is a fantasy duology that more people need to read!
Enjoyed Vicious your right it does feel like a stand alone. It seems like in the past authors weren't afraid to leave some of the story untold. So that we could fill in the blanks and make the story our own in some sense.
THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING ALL THE STARS AND TEETH!!! Belladonna got so much hype but this is my OG love
I am at the 25 minute mark and surprised you haven't mentioned the Sheppard King duology. Its a nice gothic setting with an interesting and clearly defined magic system. I could not put the second book down.
I read the Shepard King duology two weeks ago, and it was the first series I read in the first person in over a decade. Once I got past that though, I enjoyed it!
The Everless duology by Sara Holland. I think it's super underrated! I loved the atmosphere the author created because it made me feel like I was in the story with the characters. I really liked the magic system and the romance, and the relationship between the protagonist and antagonist is really interesting and well done.
I’m currently finishing up the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and then I’m going to move onto the Strange the Dreamer duology next. I’ve been in such a fantasy/sci-fi mood and I’ve been devouring trilogies that are on my TBR since the start of the year and I’m having a great time after a months long depressive episode(feeling much better now!)
Serpent Gates duology is one of my faves!! I love how it discusses language and its different takes on common fantasy races (orcs and elves specifically). It's so good! Please check it out!!
Thank you for your perfect timing.
Saved me from doom scrolling and great to start the day with ya! ✌🏼😊
A duology I really like but never hear anyone talk about is The Merciful Crow and The Faithless Hawk by Margaret Owen. A unique magic system based on birds.
I loved that dulogy. Margaret Owen is a great writer. I read her State of Sorrow books too.
Finished foul days from one of your videos. Definitely a great story and something I probably might not have picked up.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed What Moves the Dead since I don't usually read horror. There's actually going to be a 3rd book in the series called What Stalks the Deep releasing later this year!
I read The Bridge Kingdom because of you, and till today is one of my favorite fantasy books. I didn't like the second duology that much, but the first one is amazing!!
A duology that I had a good time with and don't hear about much is The Scarlet Alchmist + The Blood Orchid.
😮
The Monsters of Verity duology by Victoria Schwab/V. E. Schwab. I read it years ago and really enjoyed it. Honestly should probably give it a reread soon.
Also loved the Daughter of the Pirate King duology. ( I know this technically has a 3rd book, but that book is a standalone spinoff set after the events of the actual duology and follows different characters).
Of course The Crowns of Nyaxia series as well. So far the Nightborn Duet is complete and the Shadowborn Duet will be completed this summer. So excited to see how the second duet ends.
I did try to read The Bridge Kingdom, but the set up for book 2 was just too contrived and "in your face" for me personally. Other than that I was enjoying it, but that just kind of killed my interest in the series.
-Wraith Kings duology by Grace Draven.
-Monk and Robot duology
-Teixcalaan duology
I quite enjoyed The Queen's Rising, a YA fantasy duology by Rebecca Ross.
Old, but good recommendation is: Sean Russell - Moontide and Magic Rise Duology. He's got two more duologies published (one is a sequel to Moontide) but I haven't read those yet. Oh, and Greg Keyes' Chosen of the Changeling Duology (The Waterborn and The Blackgod).
A good one is the Rime Chronicles series by Mindee Arnett
I love this duology too 😊
I think it's YA but I LOVE the sunbearer duology by Aiden Thomas
I feel like this video is calling me out about not finishing Raybearer duology 😅 I loved Raybearer and I own the second book but I feel that I have too high expectations for the sequel but I can't help it when the first book was 5 stars for me.
Recently discovered Elliot's videos and am appreciating how she is good at describing books and their plots.
BUT does she mostly always focus on YA and romantasy?
If you end up enjoying A River Enchanted, then I hope you consider continuing the Elements of Cadence duology. I’ve only read the first book in the Blood of Stars duology (Spin the Dawn) by Elizabeth Lim but I’m hoping to get to the second book this year. I really enjoyed the first book so I’m hoping the duology as a whole is good.
-Emily📚
Esther Friesner New York series - Urban Fantasy and fun. Kelth Hradtman Gumshoe serirs , Charles de Lint Jack of Kinrowan - retell. Roger Zelazny Madwand, Dilvish the Damned. - fantasy series.
This is so random, but have you ever explained to Luna what you’re doing when you just talk in an empty room?( make these videos) I swear my cat fully understands English, so I just started explaining stuff to her like she’s a person and her behavior has changed 🤣
I haven't read yet but a lot of people say that the duology companion of the kiss of deception trilogy is better than the trilogy
How to know what to read: look at the comments and look for the people "so shook and amazed she hasn't mentioned the Sheppard King duology"
Strange the Dreamer sounds really interesting, but is it recommended for someone who really did not care for Daughter of Smoke and Bone?
I’d like the answer to this too. I keep hearing great things about Laini Taylot but daughter of smoke and bone was a miss for me
I'd recommend the Monk & Robot duology 📚
I love all the stars and teeth 🥹 I didn’t LOVE the second one, but it was decent enough
