    Ty Danielle for Czar's video update. Heartbreaking to see that beautiful boy injured, but prayers are still going up for him 🙏 and all of you at PDR 🤎 Let's hope for a positive with the next X ray images. He is a beautiful stallion and if all that still works for him down the road, that is a positive.

    OMG, such a gorgeous boy! I got my first horse at age 12, his name was Mr. Treasure Tone, full brother to Michael Landon’s pinto on Bonanza! He too had a trailer accident and severed tendons in his front right fetlock and corona. We too decided not to put him down and he fully recovered enough to ride. However his fetlock though healed would never bend again. It didn’t slow him down one bit, not even a limp. God bless you for being ruled by your heart.🙏♥️💕🌈🌹🌺

    Hot and cold packs, far infrared light, cold laser, vitamin c and collagen will help healing. Best wishes for a good quality of life for him.

    Good for you ! He wasn’t ready . We know our horses better than any stranger … no matter how educated they are . Vets aren’t GOD , and given the chance most of them will heal . We just healed up a major flesh wound , on a yearling colt . All the way to the bone , bone damage . Missed tendons , praise God . He barely has a scar . Memorial Day injury , October was the last bandage change. It can be done with patience and perseverance ! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Totally understand your decision. We went through a medical emergency where the vets said the same to me. Through sheer determination by my youngest son, myself and our beloved horse, McGee, we got him through the trauma. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut. You are in my prayers always. I love how his horse family sticks near by. Shows us how strong herd dynamics can be.

    So tough to handle a joint injury, especially the hock, but certainly worth a try. Czar is truly worth that effort. Could be a good thing that he puts some weight on it at times. If he was in a sling it could work against him mentally and physically. Thank you for sharing his story. Not an easy thing to do. Prayers always.

    • @debt4717
      @debt4717 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't like slings, either. In my 60+ years, I've seen some remarkable recoveries from splinted leg injuries, most were also recommended by a vet to be put down. Back in the 70's, Dad's stud horse, Pilot, fell down an embankment by the Cheyenne river in western SoDak. He had a really bad pastern fracture. After much discussion, it was decided that he'd try to be saved. It took a long time to heal, but he did and went on to sire many more foals. Dad never rode him again, but he was super gentle for a stud, and us kids used to put the little cousins on him and lead them around.

  • @elizabethjanik510
    @elizabethjanik510 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your Boy has a very long road of recovery to be able to come back from that type of injury. He may never be rideable again, but he'll still be a good breeding Stallion. You can Love on him as much as you can, that's always the best medicine.

  • @territn8871
    @territn8871 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Bless his heart❤. I would have done the same thing you did. I think vets sometimes think "put him down" too hastily sometimes. Made me think of the movie "Dreamer" where a race horse broke a leg and everyone was ready to put him down right then. Thankfully his trainer said "no", bought the horse from owners, and took him home. Through blood, sweat, and tears, and constant care like you're doing, the horse fully recovered and still had a racing career. If you had access to water therapy a little later, that might be helpful. It was so sweet when he hollered for his friends and they came running to him!❤ He's so beautiful! I'm so glad you listened to your ❤ and not to the vets!

    It's encouraging to see Czar putting weight on that leg. Praying he makes a good recovery and you can still breed him. With buckskin being such a popular color. Have you considered getting a buckskin mare? Or a couple with dun factor in their bloodlines? I know Jerry has it in some of his mares. I am very impressed with his knowledge of his bloodlines.

    I have loved horses since I was a little girl and would love to own/lease a horse one day, but stuff like this, the random injuries and accidents, really scare me. Horses have an uncanny knack for self-destruction. Hoping his leg heals just fine. He''ll still make a beloved family horse.

    Thank you for update! Mmmm.... I too am surprised they immediately said put him down. For damage to the ligaments and/or tendons, I would have also added treatments with red light therapy. I have a red light that's specifically for healing, I've used it and feel it works, it's affordable and easy to use. The red light stimulates the cells, thus generating healing & repair. Also massage and warmth encourages healing, cell growth.

    I LOVE how Henson supported that injury...I've done a ton of horse rescues , with creative injuries. That's close to what I'd have tried to do...Good job guy's...I get the case's that everyone give up on. My one was a grandson of Secretariat. Beautiful chestnut, my vet said he'd be dead in 2 days..sold him 3 years later as a barrel racer. He didn't give up, and neither did I...if no one told you about Spirulina. Add that to your list for helping injuries heal half the time. The trace minerals in it are key..just add a bit in the feed daily..especially for bone injuries...I'm a retired vet tech...I've used that successfully over the years... Glad you didn't give up ❤️

    Prayers ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️ The upcoming x-rays will be interesting to see. I’m thankful you gave him a little time to heal, he is such a great horse. Yes, a three legged horse cannot be used for anything except stud, which is why I think vets recommend euthanasia so quickly. But he is a valuable one…for his confirmation, his color, his mind and especially his temperament. Some colts out of him will be priceless. I’m so sorry this has happened to him, but I’m so happy you’re giving him a chance to heal. It will be a long, slow process, but I sincerely wish him and you the best. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤

    Hydrotherapy may help him as well. I don't understand why every vet said to put him down. Yes, it's a major injury, but from what I could see, no bones were broken, so why give up so easily? They could of at least offered some sort of insight or reached out to the New Bolton Center or just...something. Heck, even if they'd phoned Guelph Vet (which did surgery on Ian Millar's Big Ben several times), they could of been given alot of helpful insight and advice. So glad you kept the faith in this handsome stallion! Six days later and he's putting weight on that leg and the vets wanted him put down. Time to find some new vets.

    Absolutely the right decision not to put him down - others may disagree, but a lot of owners are driven by veterinary costs - but even some fractures can be healed, and a precious life saved.
    Okay, his performance days in an arena are probably behind him, but he can still perform passing on his incredible genes..
    So pleasing that you kept the faith, true love will always win..

    Danielle, I always say "no regrets," and you will have none giving Czar a chance to live. Maybe he can continue to be a breeding stallion. A lot of people - especially business people - would have given up. Cheers to you and Henson for holding on.

      Unfortunately the vets take the easy way out because of huge cost involved

    Looks like a football injury. Glad you did not put him down. It will take time. He will be back on the football team. I guarantee it.

    He doesn't seem to be suffering. I don't blame you guys for trying and giving him a chance as long as he has the will to go on.
