Because I started out in tailoring I have always used a gravity feed iron. A heavy duty semi-industrial iron.

I have the cordless that stays on for 30 minutes! It’s a newer Panasonic model. It is my go to iron for home and travel!

I'll have to see if those are available in Canada.

I have the panasonic cordless,. Hardest thing for me to get used to was not being to stand it upright (due to pointed ends on both ends) when pausing to rearrange fabric.

What water do you recommend for any steam iron?

I don't use water in my irons but usually you can use regular tap water. Check to see if the iron manufacturer recommends regular (tap) or distilled water.

I just got the Panasonic one, the water tank rattles like a piece is in there? I don’t use steam. Does yours do this?

Yes, I noticed that too so I think it's just the way it is made. I don't use steam either - maybe it doesn't rattle if there is water in it?

@@Chatterboxquilts thank you! I noticed it when I moved the iron side to side, I took the tank off and bingo coming from the tank

probably the weighted straw that draws in water. it need to stay wherever the water is regardless of orientation.

Thanks. It is very annoying when the iron shuts off.

Yes and it seems to be getting harder to find ones that don't shut off.

It sounds like you have something against steam. Am I missing something?

The eight minute shut off is a deal breaker for me.
