There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

"We've gotten too invested in the philosophy of what an Everything Bagel is."
Turns out if you'd committed to that philosophical inquiry you'd have won like a dozen Oscars a couple of years later. Ah well.

Clearwater has a lovely aquarium that is one of the only reasons to go there, other than the ocean life, if you aren't a scientologist. It's the aquarium that housed Winter the dolphin (the one with the prosthetic tail) and is mostly focused on rehabbing animals and using the ones that can't be released for education. The place is long and winding, so when you're done you're very far away from your car, but they have a ferry you can take back to the lot. On our way back we saw at least half a dozen dolphins in the water. It was awesome

“We like to know for whom we are working,” he said
    *We are sure you do.*
“I mean that we need to know your name. Or names. In strict client confidentiality, of course. We have to write something down in our files.”
*You may think of us as… the Auditors.*
“Really? What is it you audit?”
    *Everything.*
“I think we need to know something about you.”
*We are the people with three million dollars.*
Downey took the point, although he didn’t like it. Three million dollars could buy a lot of no questions.

The premise of most horror movies would be less terrifying to find myself in than the gradual Scientology invasion described in this video

Fun fact, Wog is a US Navy term. Its for someone who hasn't crossed, typically, the equator but its a loose destination. The Wog Ceremy underway has a long history. A lot of tradition, hazing and a few deaths.

if you google wog, it's also a slur of people of color in other countries. other being non-US. those of us in the cult never knew this in the US. @foiltarmogoyf6203

      He didn't really have one.
Eventually LRH had his own version of Heinrich Himmler in David Miscavige; Miscavige started out as a teenage cameraman for the Church's propaganda arm or something like that, but got involved with the Schutzstaffel... errr... Guardian Office and was able to muscle his way into a leadership position there. In the fallout from "Operations" in the late 1970s, LRH had to distance himself from the Church and into that void stepped Miscavige. When LRH died in 86, it was easy for Miscavige to become the new paramount leader.

Please, both of you, publish, then. Blog, audioblog, podcast, epub book, whatever you can manage. I'm not being sarcastic, and you're certainly not obligated to, but i would be deeply interested to know what is incorrect, and i think we'd all be better off having more testimony from people intimately knowledgeable about the horrors of the cult in fighting them. Especially if there are verifiable things you can provide whilst staying safe.

Guys just found your show I love it but curious how much time you research the person's you're covering? Meanwhile I'd like to hear more about Hollywood Monsters or legends My hobby is Special FX or building kits of creatures such as the Martian from War Of The World's or my all time favorite movie Planet Of The Apes (originals) but hey thanks for all the education with this fascinating show

This podcast is about historical figures, but they did do episodes on Harvey Weinstein, Hitchcock, John Landis, if you want to hear episodes about metaphorical Hollywood monsters.
