This is exactly what Celebrity needed. Celebrity is a class cruise ship line and it should have High Class forward thinking ships to go with the status.. I say about time!
In July 2014 My wife and I went on The Celebrity Equinox on an Eastern Med Cruise departing from Istambul. It was an amazing experience in a magnificent ship where we were royalty treated. The crew, the food at the restaurants and everything else is really fantastic. Nothing to complain. We had a balcony cabin which we enjoyed. We are looking forward to go again with them on a Caribbean itinerary. Mainly the Eastern Caribbean with the Reflection. Glad to know about the Celebrity Edge. A real Premium company. And worth.
My favorite cruise line ever...Meridian back in the 80's...Millenium class...Solstice class...Xpedition in the Galapagos...All great each in his time and place !

Just booked this ship for April 2019. Took a Sky Suite. Having experienced the Haven on NCL, I am looking forward to trying The Retreat. I note the (current) lack of slides, rope course and climbing wall. Hope that stands up. Bravo to X for innovation.
I absolutely love this design and cannot wait until it launches, just watchingnthis video makes me feel like we are truly entering a different age of cruising. This ship just looks so futuristic in not only the way it looks but in terms of the activites on-board but yet still seems to manage to maintain the integrity of what a cruise holiday as you can see the ocean from almost everywhere. I can truly say i am extremely excited for this ship and i hope i get to sail on her one day
I want to see public areas. Lounges. You're showing deluxe staterooms and suites and suite perk areas, but where are the common areas where you find most passengers? How many dance floors does this ship have? How many lounges? Where are the usual Celebrity signatures like the martini bar and Michael's club? What are the teen and children areas like? The magic carpet thing is not something I'd use much and I'm not getting a suite or hanging out in suite areas, so what's beyond this for people interested in other areas of the ship. I look forward for reveals of these more common areas.
True, the majority of us can't afford to get those beautiful suites. While it is nice to see them, it would be great to show at least a glimpse of all stateroom types :)
Go to celebrity's website and search for all cruises on Edge. You can select any stateroom and they'll show you the layout. The balcony cabins are the most impressive (other than suites) because of the rolling glass doors and the push button sealable glass on the balcony.
Also, on the Edge's 7 night cruises, you can get a small suite for as low as $2499 per person. Not horrible when you take into account you also get free included wifi, gratuities, free premium drink package, and $300 onboard spend. Might be out of some people's budget but for the new Suite-only pool area and lounge, i think it's totally worth it.
I would love to get married and have a honeymoon in a suite! There is a very exclusive feel to the suite venue that is better than I have seen on any cruise ship to date. I am already married, but we will reward ourselves with a suite in the future, mark my word!
They've done it again! Departing on my 6th cruise with Celebrity in JUSSST a couple weeks and I couldn't think of travelling with any other cruise line. Okay, may consider Royal Caribbean, given they're family, but none of those "other" lines. ;) Being cheeky. ;) While everyone travels for different reasons, Celebrity has finally changed the cruise experience from vacation to also include travel. For too long the industry has been occasionally dismissed, in some cases, for good reason. Now, they've fused the two worlds, letting go of the everyday, merging vacation and travel.
We are currently offering two itineraries sailing out of Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale, FL: •Eastern Caribbean: San Juan, Puerto Rico; Tortola, British Virgin Islands (a first for Celebrity from south Florida), and Philipsburg, St. Maarten •Western Caribbean: Key West, Florida; Costa Maya, Mexico; Cozumel, Mexico; and George Town, Grand Cayman. We have not yet announced additional itineraries, but we look forward to sharing this news soon.
Good Western itinerary as I'm more accustomed to the Western. And THANK YOU for not adding Belize as a port. Never EVER liked Belize. Been to that port 5 times but only bothered to visit twice. Stayed on the ship the other three ! After the second time, didn't see a need to tender for 45 minutes to visit a flea market!

This looks the "Deal!" Out of my price range no doubt. Celebrity was my last cruise and I'd not cruise with anyone else as their standards are extremely high, with fantastic staff. I'll keep dreamin'!

It looks as if my iPhone transformed into a ship, which seems bittersweet. I'm blown away by the design detail, while worried if it will still feel like a ship-at-sea.
One of the biggest influences for Edge was our desire to bring the destination closer to the guest than ever before - starting right onboard. Every detail of the ship is designed to be outward-facing.
We are big Celebrity fans having cruised them many times in Europe and the Pacific. Looking forward to a Baltic cruise on Silhouette again in July this year. This ship looks amazing. Will it be doing the Med in 2018? My only concern is prices may go up too far on Edge???

How awkward for both the room guests and those riding the Magic carpet But I'm sure both voyeurs and exhibitionists will LOVE IT!!!!!1 ;-)
We have quite a few cruises under our belt and are always surprised at the longevity of some of their employees......20 years and more......that says a lot about a company. Hard being away from their families for months but they make new families on board
Some aspects of the ship are quite nice. Not sure that magic carpet will work as planned and will end up being changed after a few years of operation. Just having it on only one side of the ship is little screwy. I like the general idea of the magic carpet but not how it was done. Many of the design features in ship are ones I have thought up myself. Both rewarding and maddening seeing them done by others, as it confirms your ideas but is maddening because some one beat you to it.
I love the Celebrity cruise line. Looked into booking this in the future , the Celebrity Edge itinerary total sucks. First time cruisers it might be good. I will wait until they change the itinerary.
Depends on which class you book. Celebrity believes in "experiences", with different classes representing a different experience. With this ship, if you book a suite, it will probably be up there with some of the top cruise accommodations available. Or even Aqua Class.
By normal you mean steerage passengers? Looks like we are heading to the days of Titanic. Where passengers are separated from each other by class. And will be relegated to only certain parts of the ship and dictated by how much one can pay.
So if I have a Veranda Stateroom on the starboard side of this ship, am I going to have that damn Magic Carpet stopping by and blocking my view every 15 minutes all day and night???

Celebrity Cruises Locked before stepping aboard? There's no magic in a platform that doesn't move while you're on it. Not at least having the magic carpet slowly move up and down a bit while dining or whatever kinda takes away from the magic carpet experience don't you think? It's just a relocating platform with really no magic. I can see having it stationary for certain occasions but I would love occasions where it moves up and down. Dinner in the sky is a perfect example. Please reconsider as not all your customers will be afraid like the above poster. 😉

Am wondering how many of these "revolutionary" amenities will bear additional user costs. Recently sailed with Celebrity and found the myriad of extra costs annoying. Ex. the private cabanas on the Solstice were never once used as they were over priced. Shame on Celebrity for trying to gouge its guests once on board.
LOL, and so true. Every time we've sailed the average age was about 70. But you can't beat the quality of the service that you get on this cruise line, always a special on drink packages where we got them free. We love the Reflection.

Oh Lisa ! I understand what you are saying. For us, this will be a Back-to-Back on the Edge, (January 27 & February 03,) and this will be our first X cruise(s). Catherine and I have also been on many other cruises. WE find that the Airlines limit packing formal wear. I guarantee WE will NOT be stuffy. After a year of looking at this ad , I'm looking for an updated video from Celebrity(?) Did I miss it ?
Ehhh... yeah it’s extremely formal... most nights you won’t be allowed in the restaurants if you’re not wearing a suit. Very relaxing if you’re used to it tho.
Ah...I just found this, so maybe you're just talking about formal night. I was talking about all other nights: Smart Casual attire can be enjoyed every other night of your cruise. Women should feel comfortable wearing: Skirt, pants or jeans with a casual top Men should feel comfortable wearing: Pants or jeans with a short sleeve sport shirt.
That's all cool but what is there to do for the younger generation? It looks like it will only attract older people due to no sport facilities like basketball courts for example.
Celebrity's clientele is mainly 40's-early 60's. They focus on travelers who are well traveled, discerning, and usually"foodies". Celebrity is not like Carnival which focuses more on a party crowd that is younger (early 30's to late 30's average). Celebrity puts a bit more emphasis on comfort, food, and service and less on discotecas, bars, and outside adventure stuff. If you want that, book Carnival or NCL. I'd say Celebrity is closer to Princess. Almost like a cross between Princess and Crystal. Somewhere in the middle. If you want a crowd that is older (like late 60's to mid 70's) go with HAL or Silverseas.
Nice ship for sure but too many UPPITY people would be on this cruise and the fakness would nauseate me ....give me Royal Caribbean or Disney FUN FUN FUN FUN and real people!!!
Roberto Quesad because celebrity is not an interactive entertainment cruise line That is what carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian cruise line are You see the water slides, rock walls, basketball court, ice skating rinks, and IMAX theaters But these cruise lines like Princess, Oceanic, and Celebrity are, you see the best food, the best accommodations, the best WiFi, the best service.
I went on Celebrity Infinity and to say my experience was bad is an understatement. Most of the advertised features didn't happen like movies under the stars. People at the costumer service desk were also extremely rude, and clearly unwilling to help us with problems. Celebrity may have designed a new modern ship but even that can't cover up the horrible costumer service.

People work hard to get what they want in luxury, they save to enjoy top notch accommodations with service. Was recently on Norwegian Cruise, couldn't wait to get off and head home. Nickle and dimed to death, staff hardly smiled, tepid food and crowded like an ant hill, never again! I'll stick with class over mass!
Little bit critisism too. I dont see the point to go to travel with my livingroom actually. You dont change your surroundings at most of the time in this then. For my opinion all interior should be less livingroom like but more marine theme. Maybe even more dreamy stuff. Stuff that taks you out from your everdy comfort. Besides than that all this is for relax relax relax. How much you actually can relax at the end? Seems little pointless all thing. And of course where is the elderly people? Is here some age limit? Anyways looks like there not so much new ecxept bit more interior design and tht all is done many time in our houses these days. Some stuff are very nice. But something is missing. It looks more like floating homes and not ship anymore. Who likes to pay for your livingroom? I really doubt that younger people choose this over the plane travel.

Hi Kim, Just to clarify, “The Retreat” is the only space exclusively for Suite Class guests. All other areas on board are accessible to all guests.

Am wondering how many of these "revolutionary" amenities will bear additional user costs. Recently sailed with Celebrity and found the myriad of extra costs annoying. Ex. the private cabanas on the Solstice were never once used as they were over priced. Shame on Celebrity for trying to gouge its guests once on board.

LOL, and so true. Every time we've sailed the average age was about 70. But you can't beat the quality of the service that you get on this cruise line, always a special on drink packages where we got them free. We love the Reflection.

Why is everyone wearing Suits on this example??? Please tell me this a relaxing company and not a "stuffy" cruise company. This will will be our first Celebrity Cruise, but I don't want to dress up all the time.
Oh Lisa ! I understand what you are saying. For us, this will be a Back-to-Back on the Edge, (January 27 & February 03,) and this will be our first X cruise(s).
Catherine and I have also been on many other cruises. WE find that the Airlines limit packing formal wear. I guarantee WE will NOT be stuffy.

Smart Casual attire can be enjoyed every other night of your cruise.
Women should feel comfortable wearing:
Skirt, pants or jeans with a casual top
Men should feel comfortable wearing:
Pants or jeans with a short sleeve sport shirt.
That's all cool but what is there to do for the younger generation? It looks like it will only attract older people due to no sport facilities like basketball courts for example.
Celebrity's clientele is mainly 40's-early 60's. They focus on travelers who are well traveled, discerning, and usually"foodies". Celebrity is not like Carnival which focuses more on a party crowd that is younger (early 30's to late 30's average). Celebrity puts a bit more emphasis on comfort, food, and service and less on discotecas, bars, and outside adventure stuff. If you want that, book Carnival or NCL. I'd say Celebrity is closer to Princess. Almost like a cross between Princess and Crystal. Somewhere in the middle. If you want a crowd that is older (like late 60's to mid 70's) go with HAL or Silverseas.
Nice ship for sure but too many UPPITY people would be on this cruise and the fakness would nauseate me ....give me Royal Caribbean or Disney FUN FUN FUN FUN and real people!!!

That is what carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian cruise line are
You see the water slides, rock walls, basketball court, ice skating rinks, and IMAX theaters
But these cruise lines like
Princess, Oceanic, and Celebrity are, you see the best food, the best accommodations, the best WiFi, the best service.
I went on Celebrity Infinity and to say my experience was bad is an understatement. Most of the advertised features didn't happen like movies under the stars. People at the costumer service desk were also extremely rude, and clearly unwilling to help us with problems. Celebrity may have designed a new modern ship but even that can't cover up the horrible costumer service.

silly people and wasting their money
People work hard to get what they want in luxury, they save to enjoy top notch accommodations with service. Was recently on Norwegian Cruise, couldn't wait to get off and head home. Nickle and dimed to death, staff hardly smiled, tepid food and crowded like an ant hill, never again! I'll stick with class over mass!

Little bit critisism too. I dont see the point to go to travel with my livingroom actually. You dont change your surroundings at most of the time in this then. For my opinion all interior should be less livingroom like but more marine theme. Maybe even more dreamy stuff. Stuff that taks you out from your everdy comfort. Besides than that all this is for relax relax relax. How much you actually can relax at the end? Seems little pointless all thing. And of course where is the elderly people? Is here some age limit? Anyways looks like there not so much new ecxept bit more interior design and tht all is done many time in our houses these days. Some stuff are very nice. But something is missing. It looks more like floating homes and not ship anymore. Who likes to pay for your livingroom? I really doubt that younger people choose this over the plane travel.
