I pray to God our father to give this man many more years to live. His work in discovering, preserving, and teaching others about our culture & history is something we should be thankful of, and something parents and church leaders are to share with our youth, cause a nation that forgets its culture has no identity. Here in the US, most younger Fijian has adopted this western lifestyle and emulate this hip hop artist gangster attitude instead of great statesman as Ratu Sukuna or Ratu Mara, which as a result made them more rebellious in society. I hope he could tour the US someday soon, and share his knowledge with the next generation here about the beauty of our culture. Vinaka Paul Qereti for your tremendous work, and I wish you long life.GB

I agree northern shark, hope he lives a long healthy life and still have an amazing memory to educate us on things Fijian especially language. There has never been anyone else in Fiji with the knowledge he has from every part of our great Islands. 🏝 I used to also watch him on late night Fiji TV whenever i went home. I also remember him when i first started working @ govt bldgs in Suva about 45yrs ago and as a young fella, he had just started working in the bldg nxt door and think he was American. I cant remember him speaking then but its amazing how hes picked up the lingo and every dialect. Im also proud of keeping up with the lingo even tho im a kailoma, most of my family have been away in OZ for over 40yrs and married to an aussie. He also reminds me of some of my long passed kaivalagi/kailoma relos here in OZ when they spoke fluent fijian that amazed people . My materal American ancestor David Whippy was 18 when he landed in Fiji in the 1800s on his own and became one of the first kaivalangis to speak fijian whereby he became Ratu Seru Cakobaus interpreter or matanivanua. Here in OZ, where wev got the biggest population of Fijians out of Fiji, especially SYD, theres a strong Pacific and rugby culture, so the kids dont have to emulate the hiphop afro/american culture as much. Although, i know some kids and adults brought up here have varied proficiency of the Fijian language. But lets face it, some dialects might disappear but with approx 600,000 speakers, the Fijian language will never be lost ! Vinaka 🥥🌴🇫🇯🇦🇺🇫🇯
