    I love love love the CAL!! Everything about crocheting garments Is making so much sense to me now! I can't wait for pt.2 of the cal cardigan!! Something funny, I clicked on the link to pt.2 in the video description box and it said private video! I was like oh no! I won't be able to make the second part lol then I realized that the 1st video was uploaded 4 days ago lol Thank you sooo much Clare! You're awesome! Have a blessed day! 💕💕

    I finished my cardigan today, it only took me one week. I used three 100g balls of the main colour, and two 50g balls of contrasting colours (although saying that I never used it all). The measurement I used was size 65cm. Thanks from me in the UK for such brilliant tutorials.

    Am definitely doing this! If only all patterns I like had one of your tutorials to follow. I saw a really lovely Bolero sweater with high collar by Linda Skuja on Ravelry, just what I was looking for only to find that clicking through to the web page had instructions a beginner crocheter like myself had absolutely no hope in hell of following! Frustrating much! Anyhoo, what I'm trying to say is how much I appreciate you taking the time to make these videos so that newbies like me can follow along xx

      +bobwilson123 great idea! Thanx. Will do. The pattern I mentioned earlier had a very small diagram and some vague instructions such a " make the sleeves" with a picture of a sleeve shape but no pattern or diagram! I'm sure one day I'll get it but my brain just opened the door in my head and stepped out for a while muttering curses as it went! Thank you so much for your answer, advice and support xx

    Thank you so much Claire for all the wonderful tutorials you make . I have learned so much since I started watching your videos :) I'm a visual learner so I would be lost without you lol. I have a tutorial request if you would be willing to .. it's a free pattern from redheart yarns. It's seems to be pretty easy but the sleeves have me so confused and I really need a visual to figure it out. The pattern is called "Crochet snuggle up throw with sleeves" , .. If you can't do a tutorial on this pattern any and all tips will be appreciated so much:)

    Thank you so much for the video. More than any other sweater videos your was the easiest for me to follow. I've only been crocheting for a month or so but I was able to follow you perfectly. Just a thought you might want to use the bra measurement as well as the inches or centimeters. Going just off the measurements I wasn't sure I had the right size bit when you mentioned your bra size (38) I was much closer to getting it right. Thank you again

    love the cardigan clare what difference does it make if i do increase as a two dc chain 1 two dc instead of dc ch1 dc...does it make the garment different? coz i noticed its done in both ways..,thx

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kristina Bostoghanashvili Hello, what it will do is add more stitches if you do the 2dc, ch 1, 2dc - each increase you do like that will have 2 extra stitches and it will make your piece of crochet increase faster

  • @natasjja99

    loved the video will definitely try however even when I make a baby sweater I have a problem and I noticed it on your video too. if you look at the left side (on left as you look at video) it is smaller than the right side. How do you fix this? Ive made baby sweaters and just thrown them in the corner because I cant fix this problem what do you recommend

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +natasjja99 Hello it should be the same size, if you are taking about the sleeves then make sure you count the stitches on your first row of the sleeve, then make sure you do the same on the second sleeve :)

    Thanks Claire; that was a, very-easy-to-understand, tutorial...I have enough Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable to do this pattern...Do you think that type yarn would work for this pattern?...Also, I want to make it without the buttons, but, still have the band...What do you think?...

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Denise N, Fortney Yes I think it will look great with the unforgettable, It will make a smaller neckline than the red heart with love, so you may need to go up a size, but once you get the first row complete it will be good to go
      Yes I think the no buttons is a great idea :) Just do a sc instead of the ch 1 I do on the button band

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, to get that look you need to add increases. I would do them gradually and evenly around
      Say, 4-5 in a row then the next row none and repeater alternating till you get the width you want
      hope this helps

      @CrochetwithClare  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +matknit321 You read my mind, I was thinking the other day if this could be made in all hdc, I think it is defiantly doable because we are just using measurements instead of exact amounts or rows, It will be warmer to because it has smaller stitches, Just be careful that your crochet isnt too tight or it will be stiff :) PLEASE let me know how it turns out

    could I use a sport weight yarn if so r there different thickness of yarn in sport weight? what size is this for and my daughter is chesty so what size do u suggest (size large shirt)??

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, the pattern is written for both dk weight and worsted weight so you could use either one. you could use sport weight, you would still use your daughter's measurements to gain the correct size. sport weight yarn is a bit thinner than dk weight but thicker than fingering. hope that helps. there are sizing instructions in the written pattern as well as the video.

    Is there a way using this pattern as im over the moon about it to make my sleeves flair out a it at the lower part rather than having the rib type look like fairy sleeves or the boho look havent ever crocheted clothes only toys so need good step by step blonde style explanation please;)))Thank you so much for your pattern adore it

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello ! Hahaha yes that is the type of explanation that i need too :)
      What you can do to make it flair out - I have never tested this but it should work) at the beginning of each round, make an increase (2 stitches in each stitch) if you use a stitch marker to mark the end of each round it will make it much easier to remember
      Depending on the look you are going for, you can start the increases when you reach elbow length or you can start at the underarm for a more flair. i can not wait to hear how this will turn out
      Hope this helps you

    Thanks so much for doing this. do you think it would look alright long. I was looking for a sweater that I could make just below the knees. With a hood. and if I decide to try to do this with caron simply soft. do you think it would work or should I say stay with the yarn you did it with ? thanks again !

    Hi :) I love your channel! I was just wondering if there is any way to make this beautiful cardigan in a chunky weight yarn? I have a huge amount of that weight in my yarn stash and was hoping to get rid of it!Keep up the great work!

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could use the chunky weight with a size J/6mm or k/6.5mm hook. you would still be using your measurements so it should turn out the size you need. your starting chains would be different so you make have to go with a different size,

      +Janay Taylor you go until you have the armhole depth measurement (the red arrow measurement) this will make it the size it needs to be before you join for the armholes. you can find the written pattern here to follow along with.www.bobwilson123.org/wearables.html

    I finished mine last night, but it's way too big in the neck and chest :( I decreased my sleeves a bit, so those were ok and the length was good. I don't what I did with the neck. I used the second size up from the smallest. My original size fell into that range, but just over the minimum. I'm wondering if it does that, it's better to go smaller? I did lose 7 pounds since finishing the yoke, lol...it was just enough to throw it off, I guess. It looks really good otherwise, but I won't be able to wear it. I'm frustrated, but I'm not giving up. I just have to start over with a smaller neck measurement. I think I'll try making the v neck cardi using the smallest size, then go back to this one. Clare, is the starting chain a multiple of 2? Thanks!

    • @Pamela_Marie
      @Pamela_Marie 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Pamela Binder Also, I used the Red Heart with Love yarn with the I hook, and it's a heavy cardi! I'm thinking the weight may have also stretched it a bit. I'm not a loose crocheter (too tight most of the time), so even though the yoke seemed to fit ok at first, the weight of the rest of the cardi stretched it out a bit. Going to use Super Saver next, see how that works out.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it could be that the weight of the cardi stretched out the neck some. you could do a border around the neck and decrease it a bit to tighten it up as described by the end of the pattern and see if that helps.www.bobwilson123.org/wearables.html

    • @Pamela_Marie
      @Pamela_Marie 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Clare! I plan to make another one and adjust the neck. I have successfully completed the v-neck cardigan! I put a picture on your Facebook page not sure if you were able to see it. I've started two more at the same time :-) making them a little smaller than I normally would because I am losing weight. I will be able to wear them a lot longer :-)

    Hi Clare - if I were to make this cardigan in a solid colour, with your hooded cowl to match, how much yarn do you think I'd need? I see someone below commented on how much they used in different colours. Do you think that five of the Red Heart Soft would do it? The skeins are huge!

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, I would say 3-4 x 7 oz skeins - are the Red Heart soft ones 100 grams or 200 grams ?

    • @nicolanewington1798
      @nicolanewington1798 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      200g, I think.

    • @nicolanewington1798
      @nicolanewington1798 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should have said Red Heart with Love. And they are 7oz/198g.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it all depends on the size you are making. larger cardis would take more yarn and smaller ones less, plus what you would need for a cowl. red heart with love have the same 7 ounces the super saver has but it is a thicker yarn so it will have less yards than super saver. if you are using with love depending on the size you are making i would suggest around 8 in total to start. if you have some leftover then you could use that to make the cowl

    Hello, I would L❤ve to make one of these cardigans for my adult daughter as a surprise gift for Christmas. The problem is, I don't have any of her shirts to use and compare to create the right size for her. She normally wears a 3X. The length shouldn't be any problem. I can simply use myself to measure the length and then add a few inches since she likes to wear her sweaters and such a bit long. Do you have any idea or suggestions on how I can create one of these beautiful cardigans in a 3X? Thank you kindly, and have a wonderful day! 🌞

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello
      You could go to the store and take measurements off a shirt :)
      There is also this site that i use - www.womenssizechart.com/
      I am not sure if you will be able to get the arm hole depth measurement though, I can ask my subscribers if they are the same size and measure them selves

    I chain 86. Dc into the 4th Chain from the hook. And follow the pattern but I end up with 3 extra chains at the end 😬😬 I've done it 2x now

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      have you followed the instructions for the size you are doing. you could be making your dc's into the chains for other sizes and that is why you may be ending up with extra chains. an easy thing to do is highlight the directions for the size you are doing. so if you are doing the size where you chain 86 then you would make a dc into the 4th chain from the hook, you will then be making a dc into the next 12 stitches, dc, ch1, dc, dc into next 12 stitches, dc ch 1 dc into next chain, dc into next 28 chains, dc, ch1, dc into next, dc into the next 12, dc, ch1, dc and then dc into the last 12. try that and see if that helps.

      Hello, yes I would check your first row to the measurement that you need to fit your neck (or the person you are making it for)
      Because you are using thicker yarn and a bigger hook, you will need to drop down a few sizes in the neck
      The rest of the pattern is the same, like crochet for your arm measurement etc
