So cool of you to make this video and explain it all as clearly as you do. Well done my friend. I refitted one about 5 years ago, but never knew about the solder blob. Nightmare, I thought I had bought a dud laser, it may even have been this video that saved the day, so thank you so much my friend, from Scotland too.
Thanks for the advice about knocking off the solder ball on the corner. You're 100 percent right. Tried 2 lasers and wouldn't read the disc. I did what you said and it immediately read the disc. Thank you.
I did the same thing a few years ago too, couldnt get my head around it, thought I,d damaged the laser unit, then I found out about removing the solder , worked perfect after that. Thank God for youtube and cool guys like the guy that made this.
I snipped the soldered traces off all together with a razor sharp mini snipper, when I replaced the laser on my Rotel RCD-971. No desoldering needed if you are careful.
Replaced this bloody thing and now it doesn't spin. Installed the old part and same. Head moves back and forth, it's just the spindle motor that now refuses to move. No its not blocked and never was
i replaced it lesser optic it works good in primary stage ,but after sometime uses it playes 5 to6 tracks properly, then it playes abnormaly like track distracks and skip the track.so guide me whats the problem.
hi i have arcam diva 72 t it has a kss 213b i fitted a working kss213c i had laying around and it does not read discs are they compatible or do i need to buy a 213 b cheers
Hola soy de Panamá. E comprado esos lents sony kss 213 c en ebay y me dicen que son originales y cuando llega a mis manos no tiene el sello sony en los lents me trabaja pero dura poco por no ser origuinal
Hola, vivo en España, también ando en busca de Sony originales y estoy lleno de dudas respecto a este tema. Si te fijas bien en el video, en el 1:58 el hombre desplaza la cubierta protectora del laser ... y se ve que el logotipo o sello de Sony no está por ningún lado. Yo creo que pasan varias cosas. Por un lado hay clones (algunos incluso tienen el logo de Sony pero con letras un poco más estilizadas) que intentan pasar por "Sony originales". Por otro lado, si te metes en alguna página web de Sony, los "optical pickups" no aparecen en su gama de productos, lo que me lleva a pensar que Sony propiamente dicha ya no los fabrica. Finalmente, se ven pickups con muy buena pinta, como el de este video, que sin embargo tampoco traen impreso el logo de Sony. Mi teoría es que actualmente lo que existe son varios fabricantes por todo el mundo que tienen la licencia de Sony para seguir manufacturando sus modelos, (unos con el anhelado sellito, la inmensa mayoría no) y que la única guía que tenemos los consumidores es el precio. Yo no confiaría en ningún pickup que costara menos de unos 15 dólares (en ebay los hay incluso por menos de 3 dólares, y el sentido común me indica que con ese precio tienen que ser una porquería). En fin, si tú sabes algo más te agradezco cualquier información.

Holas . Cuál es la medida del potenciómetro. Osea en cuantos ohmios esta graduado el lente láser. Disen q en 600 ohms ?

Yea it fits, ordered one last week, works perfect now, the new one doesn't have the lens dust cover though, but im not too worried about that.
