Melee was rushed. *BADLY.* Sakurai was only given less than a year and a half to create this whole game from scratch. Man damn near killed himself over it. Pokefloats is a prime example of its development. The static backgrounds are hardly anything to look and and all the models are just straight ripped. It would've taken waaaay too much time to make custom model's for each one and give the all unique animations. Look at how they move. Goldeen is just straight as a board. The "float" and term "kanto skies" is just a setting so they can tell you their inanimate objects but its all an illusion. Their all basic movement on a static background. Hell, even big blue uses the car models ripped straight from Fzero X. The whole stage was probably made in just a few days but i dont blame them. The fact that melee still exists is nothing short of a miracle.

Oh man, looking back on this it isn't anywhere near as cool as I thought it was as a kid. You can tell it's a rushed stage, the Pokémon have barely any animation and their models look ripped out of Stadium, but it's still really nostalgic to me so I don't mind that.

This stage looks like a TH-cam video you’d find with like a million views and it’s in 240p with Free Bird playing in the background with android quality audio
Maybe instead of original poké floats from melee returning to Ultimate maybe we might get a updated version of poké floats that have new and different floating Pokémon called poké floats 2 similar to flat zone 2 but in my opinion this stage will not return to ultimate because how will this stage will work in battle field and omega forms

I love how of all the strater pokemon from gen 2 they choose chikorita it so small 😂 heck even cyndaquil shooting it flame out could have ben a better platform than chikorita or even totodile with it tail
They could have brought this stage back in Ultimate and re-skinned some of these pokemon with their Alolan/Galarian/Paldean regional variants to connect them to the modern pokemon games.
