Definitely want a packing vid, I am doing a 320km ride in June and am bricking it! I did my first ever 162km last Friday and I am doing 250km in a couple of weeks.
Enjoy, a double ton eh? A good thing about June is it won't be half as cold as it is now and the day's are super super long so you may not even have to ride in the dark. Having said that be sure to take a rain jacket whatever the forecast. I got some packing videos on my channel - you'll probably end up watching a million videos before then and now - and tbh there a million ways to skin a cat. Soak it up =)
“He caught me. I’m just going to take my top off”.
Aye, that’ll distract him. 🤣🤣 Brilliant editing 🤣 Another great film. I was busy slogging round Dirty Reiver while you were doing this.
Hahahah I did think what was I saying but left it in cos knew a few of you would pick that up haha. Awww mega well done on the Reiver, how was it?!!!
Brutal, as always. Loved it, but suffered after the 3rd feed. All good saddle time for APN. 😅
Unbelievable stuff Katie, a true inspiration to us all🚴♂️❤️
Welcome back to my favourite local roads! Your voice whilst approaching Sedbergh / the Howgills says it all. I adore it up there, and the reasons why I'm there so often. ❤
Saw it on Strava. Absolutely amazing 💪💪💪
That's a big ride! Well done. Great views and scenery, not all bad here in the UK 😄
Smashed it mate! Top riding.
Well done Katie, you are such an inspiration, I did nearly 130km down in Derbyshire over the weekend (three rides, on an e-bike) which is good for me. I so love yours enthusiasm for our wonderful, Northern scenery.
Yes Tobes is an encyclopedia of routes up that way. A well timed ride to be lucky with the weather, good views at top of Great Dun Fell.😍
Beauty ride indeed … so glad to see you in your happy place with some fine weather no less! Well done completing that awesome route! 🚴♂️🐑⛰️🌞
EXTREMELY INSPIRING!!! ... and a feat of physical endurance!!! Please keep up the amazing work both on and off the bike!!! Editing these videos takes A TON of time ... that's why we should all feel guilty enjoying them so much!!! :D Please keep on enjoying your life like this and taking us with you on such amazing rides!!! :)
Congratulations, Katie. I completed my local sportive, The Blackstairs cycling challenge 110km and 1400 meters of ascending, I loved every second of it.
Chapeau Katie! Great Dun Fell is brutal, I've cycled up it twice, but only cycled back down it once & that was on a different ride than either of the two rides that I cycled up it.
Saved on my Garmin for when I am back in shape able to ride this! Thank you for sharing.
I don't think there is anyone on Earth who loves sheepies and lambies more than you :)
Wow that is impressive, I live down the road from the Trough and I cannot imagine attempting anything like what you just did. Well done
Katie, you are an inspiration. Its incredible the accomplishments you've made. I'm constantly humbled by your abilities and determination. I said it on Strava too, but this was an absolute beast of an effort.
You are a mad lass.
Awwwww 🥹🥹🥹thank you so much!! That is so nice of you to say. Really appreciate it x
Chapeau KK. That's a super big hard solo ride.
Great to see you're still enjoying the Winspace! I hope to to be able to rid that distance this year, still getting in shape for the warmer weather.
Well done!
Very inspiring!
Need to do something like this myself sometime! 👍
I did the Hebridean way last August and it was a fantastic bikepacking experience. I did it solo over 5 days plus travelling, I alternated between wild camping and campsites. The views were fantastic, lots of wildlife (there were sheep also), lots of friendly people and even a few CO-OP's. Would recommend to anyone that wants to do multiday riding that loves to see the surroundings.
Amazing and inspiring!
Katie you are a machine! Awesome awesome awesome! You inspire me to get better at hills again thank you!
Love seeing when youve been on my local segments on strava. So inspiring (sorry!) And motivational rides and your videos are amazing. Your nuts too 😂 well done and keep on enjoying riding ❤
Like a whole lifetime condensed in just one day of riding, from dusk till after dawn 🌅
The distance, the elevation, the scenery, the views! Love these outings to the core. I'm proud of you!
But at the same time don't you ever think you've only got to slog it out in order to be praised or appreciated; You might as well relax and talk, we would relish that too, so very much indeed.
Make a safe comeback home and take all the rest you feel the need to!
😊🙂 👋 =]
Hey Katie
great job, thank you for sharing.
Kind regards from Germany
(had my cold 400k last weekend)
Guido
Oh wow that's what you call a bike ride. Congratulations fantastic effort KK.
I cycled the Hebridean way some years ago before it was a thing- it’s fantastic and the people are wonderful but if you need accommodation then I would book it upfront! Yes please to a 300Km packing video as planning on in June too xxx love this video and love your humility re at the start of the route when I thought it was only me who had Audax doubts xx
Hi Katie good video looks good wish l was there good view's thanks takecare
oh wow! I got to ride in the cotswold last year. it was stunning.
I love it up there and all those climbs, it's great to get up there when i go and meet my family especially as i live in the flat south coast in the New forest
some belting routes up in Scotland Katie, great vlog by the way and looked an epic day! Agree (although i am biased) that the Dales is tough to beat, there is something about it just feels right, probably because its home! Just for idea's not that your short of any im sure but there are some cracking bikepacking to be done around Iceland and also Scandinavia, the latter is just vast. Its like Scotland on steroids for its remoteness.
When you've gotta go you've gotta go!😁 Lovely part of the world for the bike, have to check it out some day 😊😊
Amazing vlog wow that climb ur so lucky skinny k x
wow, nice ride...keep safe
What a beautiful countryside: the "Mont Ventoux" of UK.
Way to go. 🎉❤
Shoot! Now aftr watching your descent, I decided to ride the 3 bridges near me. Live in Florida, not much for elevation here. Day off from work, I was going to wimp out and ride north and mostly a flat ride. Wind is from the north. So thanks, now I have to ride home with a 10mph headwind.😋
I'm a bit jealous! I loved riding in Florida the last time I visited! I live in Northern British Columbia (West Coast of Canada) and there isn't a flat section of road for hundreds of kilometers around me.
This province is 50% larger in area than Texas, and is 70% covered with mountains. It's 500 meters of climbing just to get out of my town, haha.
I did that 200km Audax last week (sorry to miss you) and you were right, the wind was monstrous! Not got to a 300km yet, but you inspire me to push on 😊
Awww would have loved to have done it but… that wind. Well done on it :) next time for sure 🥳🥳
It will take me 48 hours to recover from WATCHING this effort. Well done KK. 💪💪💪
That’s one long ride well done, not sure if you’ve done any before, but have you ever done a review on what bikes you ride 😊
wow bravo, even I would doubt myself doing that solo haha
congrats!
Remember working on a car show up there many years ago
Lots of sheepies! Bring lots of joy to you. Big temperature changes...
@@KatieKookaburra Started a ride today at 60F, finished at 85F. That's the way of the desert.
That looks like a great route, will have to plan a MTB off road version, but it'll probably have to be 2 or 3 day adventure 😂
I dragged myself up Great Dunn Fell a few weeks ago. Inspired by your channel. It was very windy and a very sketchy descent. In the middle of a 80 mile ride. Hardest thing I have ridden up, including Hardknott. Great effort to do that in a 300km audax.
Thanks so much John. Did you check the weather before?! I’m verging on obsessive checking weather up there before I go and always pick the best weather day :) don’t like them winds up there
@@KatieKookaburra it was calm at the bottom. All was going well. Then 40mph cross winds for the last km or so.
the good old days of watching your videos of you sitting in front of a garbage bin and eating! Love your videos!
Was -8C last weekend on a 300km audax in Northumberland, never ridden in such cold weather. Another very odd season. Can't wait for some warmth to arrive :D
Great day out knock ventoux.
The Hebridean way is lovely. Did it two years ago. Pretty flat on Uist. Harris is the best! 😊
Awww thanks Lisa. Yeah defo on the bucket list of rides to do :) how was the weather?
@@KatieKookaburra out there it can change so quickly. One minute raining, next glorious sunshine. Beautiful beaches and views..lots of sheep! Check out ferry crossings between N. Uist and Harris, and Barra to Eriskay. I think I got a hopper ticket. I did Barra to Butt of Lewis direction. You'll love it!
What a fantastic ride that is, hopefully back up Dun fell in June 😊
@@KatieKookaburra think I will be skipping the 300k when I do it though 😂👌
Amazing ride, you're so inspirational! One question though, where do you keep your gear when you take layers off?
Pocket - had the Cafe du Cycliste Audax jersey and it has LOADS OF BIG POCKETS!!!!
Katie: "I'm sorry if you saw me."
Random Man: "No problem Luv. It was probably the happiest I've been since Christmas day when I was 5-years old." 😬🥳🎉🎄
Well done lass, awesome effort, please please please let me know when and where you’ll be in Scotland - I would love to join you for a bike ride
You wouldn’t be doing the Grand Old Duke gravel event by any chance?
Epic ride Katie! Can I ask do you have a nutrition strategy on these big rides or do you just eat as and when you feel like it ? Would love to be able to do this type of ride
142 achievements😲😲😲 on Strava and an amazing 13mph average over 14 hours
Awwww thank you!!!! Really nice of you to notice that but yeah … big day out isn’t it?! Loved it :)
‘This next bits fairly steep’ she says… oh the 20% bit you mean? Yeh, I think we can describe that as ‘fairly’ steep! 😂
I had to laugh when you mentioned how changeable the weather is on GDF though, as I experienced that when I climbed it last September. Gloriously sunny on the way up and then biblical rain on the way back down! 🤦🏻♂️😂
Absolutely storming ride though, Katie. Chapeau🧢
I feel guilty. Given the crap Spring I'm still Zwifting in the garage. 🥴
Grinton Moor is a personal favourite. Lovely climb.
id like to see what you pack out for the 300km , I've done 100 its has to be very different as its truly all day
ayyy Katie! always Goddess 💃👸
Well done I am 63 trying to build up to a 100 kms
Yesss Blue skies, sun & a sheep choir ! 🐑🐑🐑🐑
Nothing wrong with a little self doubt, reckon many in the London Marathon, no matter how trained up, little bit of apprehension.
Well done Katie
Reward yourself with a couple of Cokes ! :) 🌙
🦉
@@KatieKookaburra Yes thanks. Month of May soon, hopefully those eternal dark rainy days can take a backseat for a while ! :) That 300K you smashed gonna put you in good stead for that Safari etc 🦓
Have a great time Katie ☀️
Living in the Yorkshire Dales, means that my daily rides are in the Yorkshire Dales. Of course to be honest, I think it will be hard to find a more fantastic place to ride anywhere in the world.
What a lovely place to ride, and what lovely walkers giving you encouragment. Great achievment. 👍
They were actually amazing and made me super happy. I love when people are just nice you know?! :)
Where would be the best place to get a bnb if I came and did this route katie. Well done BTW awesome riding this early in the season
The area looks like the old series "All Creatures Great and Small". 😅
Where do you store your layers when you’re not wearing them? I’m building up the miles but hate looking like I’m out for a week not a few hours! 😂
Haha well… normally I go more minimal and just take one extra layer than I expect to wear all day. But this ride… was wearing Cafe du Cycliste Audax jersey / hoody and it has the BEST pockets of ANY other jersey. Got jacket and base layer all in there
How do you carry all the layers and food? Do you just stuff them in pockets or do you have a rack/bike bags to keep them all for longer rides? Also which bike did you take the winspace or the tarmac?
Oooh so many qs… will answer in a vid. But layers in jersey pocket and small saddle bag :)
@KatieKookaburra Haha, sorry to bombard you. I love longer rides but it's always play off between the road or touring bike. Plus I wanted to know if you did the decent on rim brakes as I haven't upgraded my road to disc yet 😁
started in padiham which is a mile from me, now i have no excuse to have a go lol..............one day lol
I've been caught toileting (1). I usually stop it and pretend to be doing something else, like looking at my phone or gazing into the distance.
i need to ride great dun fell one day, hopefully this year when ma knee heals :)
Would love to welcome you to the Outer Hebrides if you decide to do the Hebridean Way -maybe join you for some of it
LOL THAT WAS TO FUNNY u can lie down on the ground to hide too lol
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏
Me and my wife will be in England, Scotland, and Ireland in September. What are the chances of getting to meet with you at a bike shop? If you do any speaking engagements.
Oooh not sure for September - group ride end of May if you can make that :)
@KatieKookaburra
Bummer...I'm doing a 400 mile cancer ride in May. That's my first organized group ride for me. I have been avoiding group rides until now.
Impressive, to say I have been riding since 1983, doing 300km made me wince at the thought. Attempting that my undercarriage would be done for weeks! 😂 Well done 👏
Great achievement, it intrests me, what you are eating for a 300k
Dated, sweets, juice, baguette, packet of crisps, and bananas :) that was literally everything haha
👍высоко катаешься
You're the reason why I fell inlove with this sport. Keep on inspiring 😊
Thank you so much!!!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂
