My husband and I went to South Africa for a month in December mid-eighties. We landed there Christmas day with no visas (from Canada) - we didn't know we needed them. Visas were required because of the sanctions enacted by the international community because of apartheid. The authorities finally decided we were no threat and let us in. I was heartbroken and smitten by what I saw and went back in 1989 to volunteer and to do my bit against apartheid. Ended up on a wine farm which didn't seem to fit the bill at first but the owners of the farm decided to hire knapsackers and people like me to augment the farm pool. It was a resounding success - whites and blacks working together. The press came from 8 countries to do stories about us. I felt so proud to do my part. At the end of the day, we are all in this together on this earth, human beings. Nelson, you were one of our shining stars!

Charlene, it pulled at my heartstrings too. I wish we had a man like him leading us today. I was born in 1990 and pretty much grew up with Madiba's presence. Something broke when he passed.

As a South African abroad, this made me so proud. I know there are a lot that can and need to change in my country, but this kind of thing is a step in the right direction.
When he died, some expected carnage and war. Instead - this is what we experienced all over. As I listened to the radio while working, I wasn't very productive on that rainy day. Gestures and songs like this had me in tears.
Marketing or not, this is awesome and brought a tear to my eyes. The world will never see a gentleman like him again. (noted appearance by SA's latest Masterchef winner too....)
1:15 A look of innocence not knowing what their country went through and is still struggling to get out off... God bless South Africa... Much love from Kenya
My God...this pulled at my heart in various ways...there was a reverence that emanated from their voices...I felt the depth of the struggle, the pain became as real as the tears that would fall from my eyes...this was more than a tribute...this was a great blessing...indeed...
This has to be the best tribute that has ever been shown thus one that needs to be preserved forever thank you Woolworths and Soweto Choir and the whole crew behind this video what an Honor Oh am I glad I am a South African
Asimbonang' uMandela .. REST IN PEACE. You were one of a kind! May your soul rest in peace and thank you for everything you have done for mankind and blessing us with yourself! We are celebrating your life and wisdom and we are mourning on your departure. We miss you ....

Can't see for the tears in my eyes! I'm a proud Englishwoman and never been to South Africa, but WOW! Such emotion, power and love in that Flashmob. I can see that it's about the great Mandela, but can you provide a translation, or a link to where I can read one, please? Humbling. Thank you ❤️
This is so beautiful, very moving, not just because of what it represents, but there’s something very special about African gospel/music it’s so spirited and divine, coming from UK it’s like listening to the song of the soul. 💕

Last watched this so many times in 2019 - (last Rugby World cup championship) I'm now watching it again, and again. So much heart felt emotion. SA can be soooo proud of how they came out of apartheid. Hats off to this nation. ❤
The song is a rendition of Asimbonanga. It brought tears to my eyes. Powerfull voices for our beloved Madiba. May you rest in peace and your soul live on

I remember where I was when I first heard of his passing. I was working the night shift. At the time, I worked in an isolated area where I was the only operator. Thank God, because I had the privacy to cry and grieve for him without others staring. I said a prayer thanking God for him. He was heaven sent to save our country from bloodshed and war
WOW...thank you for sharing, a very beautiful tribute to Madiba, brought tears to my eyes...my prayers to South Africa, stay united, you are a nation of beautiful spirited people. R.I.P Madiba.
Very moving, even for this non-South African whose eyes well up. As if the wedding ceremony of the salt & pepper shakers from Monteshitto could ever have caused in the crowds the same level of respect and joy for a singular icon.
Wow this hit my soul & tears in my eye's, very beautiful, & I feel very proud of such a great man a LEGEND!! MR. NELSON MANDELA, he lives on in all good African people, I'm very proud of my ancestors that came from AFRICA, peace & love to all good people around the world 🌎 ❤️

Their voices are absolutely beautiful and so full of emotion. I love this whole thing. I can't imagine how beautiful it must have sounded in person.
As a South African abroad, this made me so proud. I know there are a lot that can and need to change in my country, but this kind of thing is a step in the right direction.
Justice for the indigenous people of the land.
We still listen to this 2020 Quarantine
