Awesome video for several subtle reasons, thank you! Viewers please note Mr.Fix-A-Lot's not following direction in all cases is a huge improvement! I only wish I could have seen this video before I started mine. Here are some additional thoughts and notes I learned with my DIY of the same shower which I hope will add to Mr.FAL in helping others: 1. I purchased the MAAX Cyrene from Menards for ~$750, about half the price of similar units. The store display model was very attractive with its 3D wall panels and the door frame/glass combination seemed much more solid than the more expensive corner units on display. Installation made me realize the 3D wall panels seemed too thin and somewhat flimsy to support the 3D design with air voids behind wall. 2. I followed directions exactly, which was a mistake. Directions called for caulking and screwing the 2 assembled wall panels onto the base/pan before setting in place. This created a great deal of fitment, adjustment, and cured caulk failure (from flexing) problems for me, especially since my corner space was slightly off from 100% square and level. Wall framing was done to spec but required adjustments to make fit. 3. Directions also called for mounting the fixed glass panel into the door frame before lifting/placing the frame/glass into place on the shower. This made no sense and would be much more difficult, this is when I searched again and found Mr.FAL's just posted video. Thank you for showing it could be assembled the common sense way!! 4. Tips: In addition to floating base with foam, working some baby powder into spaces between base pan and the styrofoam filler under the pan completely eliminates all squeaking caused by the styrofoam (thank you other TH-camrs). I found wetting the preformed silicone fixed wall gasket with rubbing alcohol lubricated it enough to easily slide/wedge into place between the fixed glass and door frame. Also, applying door & window expandable foam to unsupported air gap areas behind the 3D wall panels added a great deal of a solid feel and eliminated flexing when those areas were leaned or pushed on. Thank you again, Mr. Fix-A-Lot for a very informative video. With a few 'modifications' the MAAX Cyrene shower can be a solid and beautiful low cost shower.
Thanks for your comment and suggestions. There is many things in these instructions that made it more complicated then it should have been. So thanks for your tips
Thanks for this great video! There's no way that I could have completed the installation without watching how you did it. Time after time I came back to watch sections of it. One note for others that are about to embark on this: don't forget to remove the protective films from the walls before caulking the gaps at the end!
Great job. I really like the extra steps you took in the beginning to glue the base down and caulk the screws. I too felt that it was needed to stop the squeak. That was bugging me. I am installs the exact same kit. Again great job and thinking ahead.
Thank you very much, I'm trying to get the exact same shower installed into my bathroom but I've never done it before. Watching you install that shower basically showed me that it's self-explanatory
Thank you for this video. I’ve had this kit in my garage for six months as I prep the rest of the space but time has come for the shower instal. The instructions from the manufacturer are very vague and I’ve been dreading this step but thanks to this video I feel much better. Also thanks to comments by Rick for additional tips.
@@giancarlogrado9749 I did not screw to the base. No way to access it for me as I had drywall on that wall. Seems solid without that step but i did use caulk to attach the wall to the base.
Recently purchased the sister to this model and boy am I glad I saw this video! I've read through the installation of the base and panels several times and the instructions made no sense to me. I will be following Mr. FAL's methods for sure and thanks to Rick Duncan for your comments Rick they are also very helpful.
Thanks for making this video my parents lost the manual so its nice to have something to go off of so I don't mess anything up installing the shower. Maax didn't have any manuals on their website so I went to check good ol you TH-cam 😂😂😂
My plumber roughed in the water/drain and mounted the base in permanently…before I knew the instructions called for the two walls to be screwed into the base… I’m glad I found your video, it seemed crazy to screw into the base at the bottom of the walls… and now I’m not..!! Thank You Sir..!
You saved our shower install. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The instructions were horrible and your video was invaluable to me. I am now a subscriber!
Great video!! Thank you so much, and you are correct the directions are pretty much trash when it came to many aspects of this install. I'm not incredibly experienced, but feel i can at least follow directions to get me where i need to be, and these directions made it very difficult and were not much help. With the help of your video, my friend and i got right with the program, but then stalled out on the doors, getting back to those this morning. Thanks again
According to the manual walls should be attached to the pan with screws and whole construction moved into the place, Looks like you did not have enough space to do it, so you install walls after pan was already in a place. I have the same situation. Ok, you attached top of walls to the 2x3 with screws, but what about the bottoms? The bid of silicone will seal it but not glued to the pan. I think to use fast grab or else adhesive to the panel behind the cab flat part of the wall and hope that will hold it strong. In general great video made by real installer with all kind of adjustment you need to be ready to do in real life conditions. Good luck brother in trade!
Excellent video! Thank you for pitting this together. All your advice and process putting the shower together made our shower install a success. The Cyrene Maax installation manual did not explain a lot of things and you covered every detail. Your video along with the tips in the comments section helped so much.

I searched for a video because I wanted to know how the framing was done to make sure there was wood in the wall behind all the blocking that goes on the drywall. Did you get lucky that there was something behind it or did you add blocking?
My shower started is leaking under the base 😢😢😢 i will be taking apart. I dont remember using glue and dont remember that being in the instructions, i wish i would have seen this video before installing
great job! if you have time, wondering why you didn't screw the sides to the base as per instructions? Also, to get at the 'angle' adjustments [behind rollers on door] do you close the door and access them from the outside? appreciate your thoughts. thanks.
I’m installing the same shower in my basement. I’m finishing my rough in framing. What constitutes a finished surface? Exposed studs? 1/4” or 1/2” drywall? Or 1/2” treated plywood? Thank you for sharing your videos.
After you put the curved frame in place, do you not screw it in before installing the glass walls? Completely skips that step in the instructions also.
@@MrFixALot Thank you for the quick response. Love this video. I have a larger gap at the bottom of the walls to the base, not sure why as I measured all the strapping. What's the best way to fill a large gap?
It's no problem. I would re-install the strapping. I know it's not what you want to hear. It's what I would do. If you can't for what ever reason. I would put some backer rod in that gap and use lexel.
The squeak comes from in between acrylic and styrofoam.. Not the floor The "fix" is you have to try and get some cornstarch or talcum power in between the 2 layers.. It's tricky.. pry apart and do your best to spread some powder in between... NO MORE SQUEAKS.. It works like a charm.
I'm sorry to hear that. I would first remove plate cover to access shower valve. Id see if the leak is in one of the connections at the valve. Most of the time it is. If it's not there, then I'd remove the flange to the shower head and see if it's leaking at the stem. If there is no Teflon it will leak. Lastly if you don't see the leak from those two areas, unfortunately the only way I can see to fix that is by removing it or cutting drywall on the back side of shower wall and accessing that way. Good luck.
Hi, I would like to know if you had a second drainage booklet manual with your instructions. If not, how much below the baseline of your bathroom did you cut your ABS pipe
Unfortunately I don't have the manual anymore and don't remember the measurements. What I would recommend is to dry fit everything, put it together and test it. Redo these steps until it's perfect. Then i would glue it.
Great video thank you so much, i do have one question, does the base of the shower walls sit on the lip of the shower (you used the lip to screw base into studs ) or on the pan itself? Maax instructions really does not show the lip on the shower base thank you in advance for responding
Thanks for the great video! *Question* I bought a similar model but the instructions have me screwing the walls to the base and then sliding all three pieces into the corner. Can I install the base first like normal people do, and avoid the bottom screws? Just glue the bottom of the walls to the base with silicon caulking? That stuff works great! Many thanks.
