    A point that Parvati brought up that I never really thought about at the time is how both Amanda and Cirie were put on the Heros tribe and Parv was on the Villains. They were all in the same alliance, made the same moves together in the game, yet they were called heros and she was called a villain.

    @YDM955 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Beautiful conversation with Parvati. About how some of the cast on Traitors couldn’t process the betrayal the same way, I think there’s another aspect to that. The game shows like Survivor and Big brother have normalized the idea to separate the game from real life and over the years liberated the contestants to lean into game personas that can be more compartmentalized. The housewives come from a frame where they need people to feel like the show is a portrayal of their real life and the character on the show is who they are in real life. They are motivated to blend the show with the real life and therefore it is harder to separate game characters from real life people. They don’t want people to have the idea that what the audience see is just acting and artificial. It’s harder from them to get out of that and that probably also contributed to Peter’s decision to remain a faithful

    • @1bwash
      @1bwash 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      But you don't have to play that way and it's not a character fault to take something personally. What happens is that Survivor/Big Brother obsessively talk about their games and themselves as players in the context of being masterminds, strategic geniuses, etc. and they not only buy their own hype, they think that everyone else is so naive. But wasn't it naive of Dan just to dismiss Phaedra's intelligence? He admitted he basically didn't even register that she was a lawyer and owned a successful business. He thought he would spring something on her and she, a lawyer, wouldn't be able to dismantle his argument. So it's not just about separating personal from gameplay because that's a lot of audacity to discredit someone like that.

      @YDM955 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@1bwash you can choose how you process your experience but at the end of the day it’s about what helps YOURSELF heal and I just don’t think holding grudges serves you any better or help you process that pain

    • @1bwash
      @1bwash 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@YDM955 I mean, the show just aired and they just saw how the finale played out. So if you're referring to an in-moment reaction as holding a grudge, then that's not you advising them on how to process and work through pain. That's selfish to phrase it that way because it's obviously more about the people who played like villains wanting to be let off the hook for it. For some people processing emotions looks like confrontation. It's not going to help someone like MJ feel better about being blindsided by just being quiet and saying "good game." It's also not a grudge to maintain you think someone is trash.

    • @YDM955
      @YDM955 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@1bwash the show was done shooting last year and you’re right it’s their own business but they aired it for the world to see and talk about or otherwise why are you here projecting your own personal emotions as if this were any of your own business?

    • @lindachastine7669
      @lindachastine7669 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@1bwashyou’re absolutely correct. Phaedra isn’t holding a grudge, she just prefers not to be cordial with a WM who disregarded her and singlehandedly ruined her game. Which to her pov meant taking away from her children- these people aren’t Jeff Bezos. Building wealth for her family as a single Black mother is her main goal and Dan and others who see everything as a damn game obviously don’t have much to loose in terms of generational prosperity. Phaedra is in atl, she doesn’t need to be cordial with an irrelevant BB player from yester year lol or another snake in the grass- there are plenty there. And when someone wants you to forgive them it usually means they just want their ego massaged and they want to “feel” like a good person. Just sit in your actions and stop expecting people to say the words “I forgive you”

    I don't think it's fair to criticize other players for viewing the experience from a different framework. And it's sort of hypocritical too. You want to admonish players for being "bitter" so that you're let off the hook. If it was truly "just a game" then you wouldn't be upset that a stranger is mad at you. That wasn't a relationship that existed prior and was ruined. And it's such a silly distinction to say "well I can do you dirty here because it's a game, but somehow the reunion is not a game and you're wrong for doing what I now perceive as dirty." As much as you want to say during the game you were playing by the rules, you're now mad at castmates for not agreeing to the post-show rules you made up! Why do players like Phaedra and MJ need to clap their hands for you and say "good game"? Are you giving them credit yourself for outlasting you? Not really, not to the degree you're scolding them for being bitter.

    The fawning concept definitely works and is a legitimate strategy, but that's sort of where Peppermint ran into trouble. If you're this big group with a sort of herd mentality, there are going to be people like Peppermint who come from very different walks of life and may not be able to (or may not even want to!) fawn in the way you want them to. I think that was what was so shocking and alienating to fans is I think we all knew you guys didn't actually believe she was a traitor, but someone had to go home first, so you were fine drumming up an argument against her. And so you can say it's just a game, but it hits a little close to home when it's someone like Peppermint who is probably facing barriers often in real life where she's not able to easily slip into that strategy of "what do people want me to be?"

      @@YDM955 At the end of the day with meta gaming, Dan and Parvati reputation and their well known flashy moves were always going to get them be targets 1-2 so despite them wanting to win, it felt like they just wanted to create good tv which they're both known for because it's such an uphill battle for both to get to the end ( people saying Dan winning 2x on BB didn't help)
      I need next season to cast either 2 winners or 2 non winners so that it's always equal footing, Dan is always going to be the target over Janelle
