“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
“ ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”

The Holy Spirit is an invention of the monk Tertullian ( 190-215 A.D ) to stop a quarrel between the bishops of the time, trying to come to a conclusion that the Father was greater than the Son. It was a failure. The Eastern part of the Christians separated from the Western part of Christanity.

The Church fathers, from the 1st century to the 4th century, had 2 main concepts regarding the the Holy Spirit...producing quarrels amongst the Fathers of the Church.
There were no compromises or middle-ground during that period.
      Quickly ...
      1) the Holy Spirit was a ''gift'' for Mankind from GOD, the Creator
      2) part of the Creator' being ...
Tertullian was able to convince/appease the Fathers...
describing the Creator, his Son, and the Holy Spirit like the sun,
a single and undivided unit, radiating as ONE !
However, concerning the question about God, as the Creator and his Son,
by the 3rd century, no middle-ground was attained,
the Eastern Christian Church separated later, from the Western Christian Church.
In the Middle Ages, the Western Church separated again...
      ...one example, ''Mary''.
      Theology can be complicated.

    • @user-uo7fw5bo1o

4 pieces. The _stipes_ (pole), the _patibulum_ (transom), the _sedile_ proper (resting beam), and the _acuta crux_ (pointed torture-stake). Because the _acuta crux_ was mounted on the _sedile_ proper, the crucified one could not find rest unless he got himself around and slid down the _acuta crux._

10:52 "At the center of the stipes was often a crude wooden seat that offered minimal support." Yeah, no. According to the ancient texts and crude epigraphy known as graffiti this seat was a *spike* that was attached to the stipes by means of a strut. When the person sat on it for the first time it introduced *horrible* pain. But as the person was compelled to press up on his legs and let himself down to give his leg muscles a rest in an endless cycle the effect on the body would be scandalous and humiliating, but would also bring him into "paradise" (*) and effeminise him. One man so affected was probably named Alcimus and is memorialized by a graffito etched in a taberna in Pozzuoli just outside of Naples Italy.
(*) No, I'm not talking about Jesus and the good thief, Luke undoubtedly thought Jesus was referring to the afterlife so keep your mind out of the gutter concerning him, especially if you're a Christian!

@@user-uo7fw5bo1o Where did you read that? I didn't find any evidence of it. In fact, it doesn't make any sense.
Romans wanted people to live on the cross for as long as possible, to draw out the torture. That's why they added a seat to the cross. They wanted the condemned to stay alive for days.
A spike would've had the exact opposite effect -- it would've made the victim's death much quicker. It would run totally counter to the main goal of crucifixion.

I know that Biblical Holidays can bring controversy.
So much of what we Christians do is an amalgamation of Biblical commands & precepts (Sola Scriptura) + whatever Traditions are embedded in the particular Denominational perspective we were raised in.
There's not much point in fighting over them if they're secondary in nature - ie their observance DOESN'T violate an Essential Christian Biblical Truth. Ergo, we should heed
    St Augustines Dictum:

Just remember that in reality, unlike the films and classic paintings, Christ wasn't scrouged and crucified with his modesty preserved by a loincloth, he'd have been stripped completely naked; the customary Roman practice for those they condemned to death by crucifixion. Indeed, once stripped for scourging, it was normal for the condemned to remain totally naked for the remainder of the crucifixion process. Thus it is highly likely that, having been disrobed for his scourging, Christ bore his cross to Golgotha stark-naked save for the crown of thorns and the ragged length of red cloth the Roman soldiers had mockingly placed about his shoulders.
