    I know a little bit about this car. Comes from my home town and been here for years. The elderly man who owned simply didn’t use it - it did virtually nothing and sat in his garage, unused, hence the mileage. Sadly, he passed away a few weeks ago and his family have decided to sell it through Matthewson’s. I have no vested interest whatsoever but thought it might be helpful to add the little I know about it - and, yes, the detective work about it being loaned to pal to use at a wedding is spot-on.

    I wanted an Arnage for a few years. I bought a Flying Spur eventually, mainly because they are AWD and a more modern car. The costs are roughly £1200 for servicing each year plus £600 for road tax, although you can keep it off the road in winter. Insurance for me is £400. Don't worry about the cost of fuel, its relatively insignificant. Mine is 12-cylinder and 6 litres, but on a 200 mile trip will average 25mpg. Doing 2500 miles per year at 20mpg is 125 gallons and at £7 that is £875.

    This is my directors car, sadly he has recently passed away. He owned baxketh ltd in Hartlepool for almost 50 years, he was essentially a scrap man and always used our works service van for his everyday use. The Bentley was bought by Michael especially for the low mileage (13000) back in about 2006, and he built a garage especially for it, and it was kept in it at all times. He would bring it out on a sunny day to do a bit of posing, my partner has used it a few times to do a family wedding of ours and a couple of proms for the kids, then back she went into the garage only to come out again to be tested and cleaned. This car is absolutely correct with the mileage, I have a copy of all mileage from the dvla if anyone wants a copy to verify anything. To be trueful the service book could be in one of Michaels "I'll put this in a safe place" place and we could possibly come across it when I clean his office up.

    I live in NYC and a few years back saw a 2005 Arnage T for sale for $25,000!!!! USD! I called the woman, she was 80 years old. It only had 20,000 miles on it! And it was serviced every few months anyway... Mint!! I told her I was coming out with the cash.... I show up, it's gone! She says she had spoken to someone and thought it was me.... He was there an hour before me... Lost it.. Now, since here is the Colonies, there is a lack of new and used cars and prices have gone up around 30% for used, the Arnage's I have seen are up to $50k from the mid $30's to 40's with high mileage. Oh well, Now looking at a Final Series, 2009 Black on Black with 27,000 miles on. The guy wants $57,000USD... What do we think of that? Should I or shouldn't I? That is the question. Love these cars. Best Bentley ver built as far as I am concerned. And better than 99% of everything else out there. I want to pull the trigger...

    • @ChrisPriceCars
      @ChrisPriceCars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly, I'm a bit surprised the auctioneers don't run an MoT history check themselves, it only takes 30 seconds and shows the mileage is correct and runs all the way back to 2006. A quick call to Bentley Manchester may reveal at least some early history although getting access to non online service history records tends to be very difficult these days due to GDPR. I'd imagine it was Bentley serviced for at least the first few years as very few new Bentley buyers don't get them serviced at the main dealer. The last change of keeper was March 2009.

      Parking shouldn't be an issue. A friend of mine had an 80's Silver Spur, so quite similar. I had a Granada limousine and used it as my daily town car for the comfort. I suspect the mpg on a motorway will be similar to the limousine's town economy. Also had 3.0 S-Type which could do 30mpg - the sort of mpg I'm used to. In fact, I find that quite economical given my car history of never anything smaller than 2.8 / V6.

    This is a very genuinely nice luxurious car but what I cannot understand is that people who have seemingly loads of money, invest it in one of these cars & then park it up in a garage & hardly drive it, it seems to me such a waste of money & time as cars like this should be driven & not sitting dormant in a garage!
    The mileage looks correct to me judging by the MOT history but as the golden rule applies: never buy without service history & I hope the service book/history & any handbook/documentation are soon found for this car so that prospective buyers can have a look through to check how well this car has been maintained.
