We didn't really have to do anything for the digital switchover since we were already on cable to begin with. I definitely remember the push to get all the antenna users onto a digital signal before the big day, though. It's like one of the few things I actually remember from 2009, alongside Obama's inauguration, watching E3 coverage on G4, and Michael Jackson dying.
I remember listening to the channel 6 nightlight on 87.7(5) FM. I actually liked to listen to certain programs in the car, so I was a little bit sad to see that go
Yeah, that was when over the air tv station channel 6 was actually on 87.75 fm before the June 2009 transition, and you could actually pick the station up, now you can't anymore.
We had a channel 6 WATE here in Knoxville, TN that was also on 87.7 FM. Back in 1980's when we still had mono TV's with one speaker only, I used to rig my FM turner's mpx separation control potentiometer to where I could adjust it to pick up 87.7 in stereo, especially on Monday nights at 8 p.m. when MacGyver was on.
87.5 was never stereo, mts stereo could not work on fm radio, only on tvs with stereo capability, the 87.5 audio was the same frequency as used on for ch6 on old tvs.
Yep. We just had two stations go nightlight tonight, and for the next 30 days, their analog signal will alternate between this video and a Spanish version (with English subtitles).
Looking at the dtvanswers TH-cam channel, is the channel literally only used for the whole analog to digital transition? Because, I don't see any video's newer then about April or so of 2009.🤔
@NYYankeesFan YT is that just the last anyone knew of or did I go back in time? Plus, with what you said about that it should play on other analog stations, yeah, it's too bad that they shut down the stations when they did. When they were shutting the analog stations down, I really didn't get my head around what the idea was or really grasp what the idea was, and I largely missed watching this on the analog stations. Plus, I think by the time I really got an antenna, it was really only a few weeks before just about all full power stations got shut off.
this has chapters, a feature from 2020 on a video from 2009, i guess people still had trouble setting up a digital tv yet have a device with youtube and wifi
@juhakatila you are in a PAL formatted country. scart is used in mostly in countries where PAL is used , not in NTSC countries the closest thing to scart is S-video since NTSC tvs do not have scart sockets.

@juhakatila yes HDMI is replacing these connectors. However, new tvs and equipment will still be equipped with these older connectors at least for the time being.
Well, this is kinda what replaced the programming on over the air in the USA for a few weeks following the june 12th 2009 government mandated deadline.

I think that was the original date for when the government originally wanted to mandate the idea of the switch, but not everyone was ready, so, they pushed it back to june 12th for the U.S.
