We are South Indians and we are very eager to know the location of Temples of 10 Goddesses of Dhasha Mahavidhya. Because all these Temples are located in North India only. There are 2 more stories related to Devi dhumavati ,
1st is that once there was two aghoris or demons who did penance for devi Kali and when she was impressed they asked her to give them a boon that , whenever they would be in trouble she would come to protect them , so kali agreed, so when these aghoris were started doing bad deeds lord Shiva appeared to save his devotees and kill those 2 aghoris and then aghori pray to the mother to save them and then a fight happens between both Shiva and Parvati as they both were Vachan badh and were keeping the promise to their devotees and in that fight then Parvati engulfed Mahadev and turned into dhumavati and then she was calmed my lord Vishnu as the world got imbalanced due to the absence of lord Shiva and also because of this form of the mother .
Another story is that when Devi Sati burned herself in the Prajapati Daksha's yagya then from the smoke of her burning body appeared Maa Dhumavati.

I will try to make in details, and hota hai ye sab par asharams m nahi (at least not any ashram that I know of) but under specific gurus yes. Such tantrics exists, coming to the Himalayas in summers and going to the coasts (east and southeast) of India.
