There is a very simple way to remove paper that is stuck. Just remove the cartridge and then pull the stuck paper and reinsert the cartridge. I don't understand why he went thru all that.

some jams are so crimped up into the back of the printer and roller such that you cannot grab the paper to pull it out, and if you try to grab the paper it just keeps tearing. For typical jams, what you say works, but for some the printer must be disassembled, pain! Alternatively, I have sometimes used extra long needle nose pliers to carefully pick the paper jam out, 12" and 14" long needle nose pliers.
