This concert was seen by 72,000 people in the stadium and 1.9 billion on TV. I was one of them, 14 years old and watching with my parents in our living room in Minnesota. Queen wasn't even supposed to be a major act, but from the moment Freddie pranced onto the stage (you can see the band's timer ticking in the video, they were on a STRICT schedule!) he started a one-on-one relationship with everyone watching either at the venue or across the planet. With all the improv and audience participation, they stepped off that stage TO THE SECOND when they were supposed to and made it look effortless. It's been said that LiveAid was the perfect audience for Freddie Mercury...the whole world! Thank God this was recorded and people who hadn't even been born can appreciate it. RIP
Beautiful, I'm old, I'm going to be 68 years old. I'm very glad that you're listening to the music of my youth today (the 70s-80s). We, our generation, made our own good music. It's a big problem with you
Oh man, 37 years later and even though he's left us, Freddie Mercury still plasters the biggest smiles on our faces! 😁😆😁 And Sarah, have no doubt, your smile reaches all the way from your adopted country All The Way to the USA. Thank you for such a wonderful, happy time 🌹💞👼😊
I was 12 when Freddie Mercury formed Queen. The Music that was coming out week after week was amazing. lt was a new song on the radio and a new band non stop. For those of you who are listening to performers of today's time, I want you to notice one thing when listening to the old Rock & Roll, no one is wearing hearing devices, they know the songs by heart. Not one mistake is made. No one is lip sinking the words!
He was incapable of performing in any manner than, "full out", as we say in the ballet world. Freddie gives leaves it ALL on the stage along with heart!
What makes this performance even more impressive is that Freddie was diagnosed with laryngitis the week before the concert and was advised by his doctor to cancel the performance. Freddie ignored the advice and went on to make history.
If you have the ear for it, you can hear it in his voice. What's beautiful though is that it isn't a negative. He knows his voice so well that he adjusts what he does and still delivers the best live performance. He's the greatest example of an artist knowing their instrument and using it to its fullest extent.
Freddie und Queen sind und bleiben die Besten❗💕 Unvergleichlich und unerreicht ❗🙏 Da sind wieder alte Erinnerungen aufgekommen❗🤗 Danke, für das schöne Video ❗👏🙏🌹
Sarah, to put Queen's great perfromance here in context: "Live Aid was a benefit concert held on Saturday 13 July 1985, as well as a music-based fundraising initiative. The original event was organised by Bob Geldof [of Boomtown Rats] and Midge Ure [of Ultravox] to raise further funds for relief of the 1983-1985 famine in Ethiopia, a movement that started with the release of the successful charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in December 1984...Live Aid was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, UK, attended by about 72,000 people [where it was introduced by Prince Charles and Lady Diana] and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, US, attended by 89,484 people. On the same day, concerts inspired by the initiative were held in other countries, such as the Soviet Union, Canada, Japan, Yugoslavia, Austria, Australia and West Germany. It was one of the largest satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time; an estimated audience of 1.9 billion, in 150 nations, watched the live broadcast, nearly 40 percent of the world population." Performers included Elton John, Paul McCartney of the Beatles, B.B. King, Joan Baez, The Four Tops, The Who, Phil Collins, Sting, REO Speedwagon, Crosby, Stills & Nash, U2, Bryan Adams, Black Sabbath, The Beach Boys, Dire Straits, Boomtown Rats, Spandau Ballet, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Albert Collins, Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Santana, Madonna, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Kenny Loggins, The Cars, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Duran Duran, Dione Warwick, Patti Labelle, Hall & Oates, Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Bo Diddley, Rick Springfield, Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan.
Ahh, 1985, the year I graduated from high school, I was in the musical Godspell, and the music of Queen. I can not imagine the overwhelming emotion of being there live, just incredible. Thank you for sharing your reaction Sarah ❤️
The legendary David Bowie (one of my favourite singers)who had to perform next after Queen was heard by a reporter to say "how the fuck am I supposed to follow that"
I actually heard that Freddie saw David backstage, and b/c it was hot, David had a fan trained on him.. and Freddie said "Oh, David -- is that the only fan you have??" -- lol
There was an encore several hours later, just Freddie with Brian. It was "IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED", a beautiful poignant song. They also performed this song Live at Wembley 1986. It would be another good song to review. I enjoyed your reaction. I hope you continue, there is so much more to discover from the Rainbow in 1974 through Barcelona with Montserrat Caballe, and the final albums and videos from The Miracle, Innuendo and Made in Heaven
My favorite song is "SomeBody to Love" I prefer the the video rather than the live version. What is awesome about this Live Aid version is how the crowd sings and is totally involved with Freddy Mercury
I will listen to Freddie and Queen until the day I die. They are spectacular. Freddie's performances were always magical. I still miss you sweet Freddie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It is just so awesome a No Queen crowd knows all the songs and all the words. It proves all crowds are QUEEN crowds. This concert was said to be the best live rock concert ever. I still believe it. ❤
Love your energy.. 🙂And all of every second from this concert! And Freddie - legend? Oh yes!! Have not seen anyone better in my 53 years of life. He was just more like an angel, perfect singing and that body language!
72,0000 people at Wembley, another 100,000 in Philadelphia, and 1,2 billion watching on TV globally. The Olympics have 3 satellites...Live Aid had 13. I wasn't a Queen fan at all, but after that day..I was lol! The world for Africa! I remember it was very hot that day in Wembley Stadium July 13th 1985 but it was worth it, best day in my life! 👏👏🇳🇱
A really good reaction, one of the best i see. I saw this concert on TV, in France. And between Wembley, the other site of this concert, Philadelphia, and ALL the viewers on TV, there was a communion, but i can say, i was here. Without be here. But i saw that in live... And this is one of my best memory.... Sorry for the mistake in english, i'm a poor older french. 💛
Ok Sarah please please please react to " Somebody to love " live from montreal in Canada by Queen its an epic Performance but if you dont know the song listen to the studio version first but dont react to the studio version its has to be the live version from Montreal
@@SarahDengler " I'm gonna wait because youll be blown away by this version Freddie just owns the stage and the band backing vocals on this song and version are incredible 😘
Freddie had that massive audience in the palm of his hand! Great reaction, as always, Sarah!! I've been behind on my video watching, so sorry it took so long for me to get to this one! If you have the chance please add Queen performing "White Queen" at the Hammersmith Odeon to your ever growing list!! Take care,

This was a concert for charity. Most of the performers “phoned it in”. Queen gave it their all and it showed.

Freddie had such a presence, that magic coupled with his singing & the awesome music of Queen make them The band of the 80's.
no of the 80's a bad of all time!!!

I was one or many taking fund-raising calls at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto during the concert.
I don't know where you've copied that from but Bob Geldof's band was Boomtown Rats, not U2 (Midge was Ultravox).
@@trishbelfield2864 Thanks, I edited it.

Great reaction to a great band.btw Freddy Mercury is Indian
Do you think if most of the world knew that it would be different? I don’t know.
No, he had Persian ancestors and they emigrated to India
And his doctor advised him not to perform because he had a throat infection
I was still a young lad then.I'm an old git now lol.
