I bought the packout mount plate on sale at Northern tool for $19. A set of locking casters from Amazon for $20. Cut a 3/4 plywood base to match the shape of the plate and made my own dolly.

The drawers are incredibly expensive too though. I love the packout system but wish someone would compete better. The dolly I'd just get a furniture dolly with 1,000lb capacity for $20

@mancavertools you should have just got the packout handtruck, that atleast can be used as a regular dolly/ handtruck than just a packout wheeler

I assumed that was a lock bar too. I’m starting to wonder if they are purposefully leaving things for improvement so they can sell you another one two years later.

That's cool I agree with you way too much ; for the pack out dolly I think the box said I wish ryobi would have somthing like this soon.
I'd by there stuff more and hart has a kinda different pack out sytum for like eather 65 or 75 bucks.
But it's just to cheap for me to spend on it now the carry tool boxes for 20 bucks ain't bad and the handled rolling tool box I think is 30 - 50 now that's pretty good for the rolling tool box one lock made on the tool box and with a space for a padlocked anyways Dave sorry for rambling.
Later great video; and thanks for up loading and very jealous of the new truck looks great :)

You should make it so it could quickly lock in your new ford pickup bed. Like there are clamps that you slide into place and it locks in the back of your bed without needing clamps or straps.

The dolly should be heavier duty, and the casters should be plate style and six inch, without a king pin, for what's it for it should have 1000 lb capacity

  • @chrisbowman9439

The dolly is defective.....mine last 3 months. The wheels will bore out the caster opening, and eventually the wheel, will just fall off.,...do not recommend this product.... Milwaukee should recall these

So i thought 90 was too much too but I started looking a similarly priced and quality wheels and learned quickly that the at 15 bucks a piece for quality casters it was better to just buy the milwaukee. They are good casters and a good system and work flawlessly

The Packout Mounting Plate can often be bought for $20 to $30. It is 23.3" x 18.3". Harbor Freight has a furniture dolly (SKU: 56782) that is a solid top and is 24" x16" for $28. While you get a little over hang on the front and back, you could bolt the plate down to that and have a dolly for $48 to $58. OR, you could not buy the mounting plate and just drill some holes and bolt an existing Packout case to the top of the wood dolly.

It looks pretty good to me but other TH-camrs that review all the pack out stuff from Milwaukee have given it pretty iffy reviews. They said it's durability is questionable and other problems with that foot breaker whatever that thing is was annoying for some reason and had issues I don't remember exactly I saw the videos a week or so ago but it's not getting glowing reviews from most TH-camrs.

    • @ManCaverTools

@@ManCaverTools yeah I agree the foot pedal should have been multi-function, but I do like how smooth it rolls I like you want to put a lot of automotive tools in it and I bought the pack out quarter and half inch wrench and socket set from Milwaukee pack out and just that alone weighs 50 lb maybe more it's heavy that's all I know LOL then I've got my gear wrench combination standard and metric wrenches in a pack out as well as most of my Ryobi tools and battery packs are in multiple pack out tool boxes as well and I too like you and kind of annoyed when I have to tilt it back by hand to pull it out flip it around and get it out of where it is and get it to where I want it to be it's a pain in the butt especially because it's so heavy with all those wrenches and socket sets in it.

Thx for the video. I agree the dolly is expensive. But the argument could be said you get what you pay for. Those wheels look rugged. I think Milwaukee is very confident that those who are plugged in to the pack out system will buy without hesitation.
