Yeah I kind of decided I don’t care about the optimal path for this content, and more and more of what FFXIV offers as I’ve been around a while. And it’s way more interesting to figure it out myself.

I was tempted to buy the glam as soon as I got access to it but I'm glad I waited. Wish they would give 2-3 pieces/item each node, it's a pain farming for things and get only 1, it's eating much of my time since my OCD wants to get 100pc each items. Just in case i would need it later on. I know we have the granary for that but still want to do something while there.
It's true that it's a trap to spent the currency on stuff other than expending the island but if you sprint too far ahead you will be short on recources no matter what. Island Sanctuary is just meant to be slow. I tried to do it on a medium to fast pace at first but realized quickly that it makes no sense to do that for that kind of content.

I made this mistake of buying the minion as soon as I could. So being 4k down meant I've been stuck at lv 5 not being able to do ANY expansions and probably won't be for another day or two.
Also I was trying to find the mammot they said to go to for the granary and didn't see it anywhere...I knew that was going to be important but couldn't find it anywhere! Also been collecting stuff when Im out gathering cause I know its needed for upgrading as well
I am Rank 5 and cant expand past the second expansions (after getting the windmill/treehouse spot) as i used my tutorial stones on the chest piece glamour and now have to wait till my workshops produce more, they are running 24/7 with calculated profits so i should be able to expand tomorrow Its really a shame the game doesnt warn you when you get the options to use them for glamour and shit xD
I picked two granary and only had two workshop and still did fine. Got my third workshop now. I'm level 7 and upgraded everything I could including level 3 pasture and cropland. The two granary really helps bring in rare materials so I was able to make more high value items in workshop. So people who went two granary, don't feel like you made a mistake.
I am absolutely stuck at mk IV and cannot get it unlocked I feel like I'm missing something I made all the available building and tools but still no luck wish the mammets gave more direction on what to do
Presently waiting to activate Mk IV expansion too. It might just be a matter of raising Sanctuary Rank? Doing so unlocks new craftables - such as the mammets' tools for expanding. (Not sure if it's still an issue for you at this point, though, given it's been a few days since your comment.)
If you dont want to get into this trap as easily as others, get 2 workshops as quickly as possible, gather matz in larger amounts and KEEP THEM until you hit lvl 10. Follow up with any videos Cole puts out for detailed info on the IS. If you havent read my previous comment, The predicted demand is WEEKLY or "one season". So if you just started a season, you'll want to look at the current "popularity" for your current season to determine what you need to be making "now". The ideal combo for an item is "Very High popularity, Non-existent supply amount, and Skyrocketing for the demand increase. The corps all take 2 24 hour periods to grow and the animal leavings is a day by day basis. There MAY be a correlation between animal mood and what you get from leavings. I say this because my animals are all happy and I get approx. 7/10 leavings that are 2 items (1 regular and one rare) instead of 1 (1 regular OR 1 rare).
yeah, i bought the shorts and then upgraded the pasture so now at rank 5 I'm stuck because I cant make enough seafarers to clear more land and build more things
nice job, i get my self on the grind mode of rank up just i dont figure out the damwn blu token come only from the mummet factory... i love it xD i know is a pain but if get how to raise up using some little trick is not so bad. is atrociously time consuming for sure :D if one dont love to grind a shitload of material please avoid it for your personal sanity :D
I love it that SE creates content to be enjoyed in a relaxing way and FFXIV players find ways to torture themselves with the content. There's no saving FFXIV players from mad grinding whatever SE creates that's new:)
This is certainly for people who want to max it out quick, but some good advice is upgrade your workshops and granaries if you have them . It's easy island exp to get you to a better rank
Rly nice video, I also no life gathered until I hit rank 8, got the collect 3000 achievement way before then....and to add upgrading the work shop doesn't seem to effect too much if any? But upgrading the granary does make them bring more of the rare material back, first upgrade went from 2 to 3. Not much of a boost but 3 is what you need to upgrade to lvl3 so you can upgrade 2 stations a day.
Funny to see how hard people go on this, haha. I had a lot of fun with it, went balls to the walls with it on day 1, now that everything is up and running I take it slow. That hint about the granary missions was important though. I'll focus on the ones needed for upgrades for now.

@@ColeEvyx Ok so it is a YES to that statement. It is by season not by cycle. And something I thought of that im going to test is "creating demand". Basically, trying to not sell certain items that are on your next season, so the supply amount drops which, as we know, having less of the item seems to affect the payout from said item.

Honestly it’s not too bad, you get an extra thousand cowries for shipping 20 items, I bought the shirt and while there was a rough patch I’m back on track
It's not that bad actually, I did the same and got the third workshop on the second day. Plus if you get 2 grainary you can get 4 of the 3 rare material needed to upgrade the workshop to rank 3 as soon as possible.

I thought this would be just designing your own house and using the materials found on the island. But it's just another grind. I'm not happy with this patch, especially how the MSQ is gated to gear iLevel. I have the full Classic set but it's five points below the requirement and the only way to get the higher tier gear is to spam dungeons or craft it. Buying it with gil is out of the question as it's going for 2 million per piece on my server. I've enjoyed the game but the gating has ruined it for me. Thanks for the video though.

If you hover over the seeds in sow mode they tell you grow time. So far they all say 2 days .

The food to grow takes 2 earth days time, is different from the animal sections
damn, I spent 350 cowries sending my dudes out for a week thinking I'd need the ore. I wonder if I can swap for the cowries and lumber.

I'm level 5 on mine and nocited that some need those currency to do stuff and so I just stopped and waited to spend them

Do not expect ff14 players not to optimize their island sanctuary grind. There's gonna be better and more conclusi guides as the expansion continues.

they severely under supplied the sea cowries. BTW the predicted value is for the next season not the next day from what ive seen.

@@ColeEvyx Ok so it is a YES to that statement. It is by season not by cycle. And something I thought of that im going to test is "creating demand". Basically, trying to not sell certain items that are on your next season, so the supply amount drops which, as we know, having less of the item seems to affect the payout from said item.

It's not that bad actually, I did the same and got the third workshop on the second day. Plus if you get 2 grainary you can get 4 of the 3 rare material needed to upgrade the workshop to rank 3 as soon as possible.

You can also sell some leavings from your animals for cowries. Most sell for 12 a and the rare items from graineries sell for about 50 each 👍🏽

I opened sanctuary this morning, got to rank 5 in a few hours and chilled out....and I'm honestly surprised everyones this strategic and crazy about this already, this is meant to be a slow, leisure activity, no need to be going this hard imo.
I know there's a new hairstyle that comes from the island. How hard is it to get/how soon can you get it if you know? that's all i want but am not motivated to start tbh

I thought this would be just designing your own house and using the materials found on the island. But it's just another grind. I'm not happy with this patch, especially how the MSQ is gated to gear iLevel. I have the full Classic set but it's five points below the requirement and the only way to get the higher tier gear is to spam dungeons or craft it. Buying it with gil is out of the question as it's going for 2 million per piece on my server.
I've enjoyed the game but the gating has ruined it for me.
