A young drummer perfectly recreates a solo that is almost 70 years old. What better compliment in this short-lived world for one of jazz's greatest drummers?
@@manuelpeters446 yes you have to go through that. That way, your body start integrating the movement and the phrases so you don't need to think about every note anymore.
@@manuelpeters446 The sticking you are using depends on the sound you want to have. At 0:32, the triplets are based on a 6 stroke roll wich is RLLRRL and at 0:45, i'm doing only single stroke roll
Fantastic very enjoyable keep up the great work thank you I got to carry Max’s snare drum walk and talk to him from his Cadillac into the count Basie theater in Red Bank NJ where he did the same solo in the mid 80s
Fantastic job my friend! Thank you for posting this. Will be sharing this with my applied lesson students at Lee University here in Cleveland (Chattanooga), TN. 😊🎶🥁👍
Too bad he didn't place a tracking line on the staff, I don't know exactly where you play to follow and learn this perfectly. i see Max R ontime life in Antwerpen( Belgium) the Muse anno 80' it was greate !!

Great feel - max roach made it look easy and so do you. That isn't easy.
Haha thank you for your message!
I can assure you that it wasn't as easy as it looks now, I put quite some practice into that haha
Max Roach made the drums talk!
Excellent, relaxed playing.
Thanks a lot! Being rexaled is key to be groovy
I love how clean and precise this is
Thanks man! I had to spend some time on those triplets rolls to have them finally clean haha
@@alfiolainidrums4988 that sounds tough. How do you practice them? Do you play them ridiculously slow with a metronome at first?
@@manuelpeters446 yes you have to go through that. That way, your body start integrating the movement and the phrases so you don't need to think about every note anymore.
@@alfiolainidrums4988 do triplet rolls have two rebounds?

Any tips for drummers going into post secondary? I have my audition for a school coming up in May and I’m a tad nervous
