I love the hesitant, halting, piano intro, followed by the easy groove when the band kicks in. Norah is one of my favourite pianists-so bluesy and soulful, but at the same time, light and whimsical. It gives her playing an almost ethereal quality that always makes me feel good.
The first song that I heard from you was, the long day is over, that's when I was going through the most grueling days of my divorce and you helped me out without even knowing it.
This song was played everywhere. So stylish and the melody was matched with the nights during weekend in autumn and winter when I was listening in one of the biggest big cities.
It doesn't get better more than this. It was difficult years for me but this song was like a light in my heart. 17-18 years has passed this song still bless my heart so much. 5 Grammy awards
I was only 3 when this song came out but I remember hearing it as a child. It used to me so sad. Nothing’s really changed there. Anytime I’m reminded of this song, I can’t help but listen to it 5 times.
I come back to this video every now and again, I'm absolutely in love with this version of the song. What I wouldn't give to be a member of that crowd back in 2002... ❤️
I would have loved to see her in person at the House of Blues. I own the DVD of this concert so it's the next best thing. I did see her perform live at an outdoor amphitheater which was so nice. Love Norah Jones. Wish she would go back to this style of music.
Really nice! A bit of a cheerful turn on the song. A little distant to the lyrics, but perfect for the ears! And Norah's so natural, she actually looks like a person hahaha most famous musicians (specially in the last dacades) have this persona all the time, they have to "perform", to be a character. But she actively denied it, since the release of this song on radio, when she refused to give it a more commercial spin. This kind of naturality might be common in jazz, but her band is, simply put, pop jazz. And pop is the most performatic genre. It shows that she embraces her beliefs and herself and her song, no matter what the world might think. It's beautiful!
I waited 'til I saw the sun I don't know why I didn't come I left you by the house of fun I don't know why I didn't come I don't know why I didn't come When I saw the break of day I wished that I could fly away Instead of kneeling in the sand Catching teardrops in my hand My heart is drenched in wine But you'll be on my mind Forever Out across the endless sea I would die in ecstasy But I'll be a bag of bones Driving down the road alone My heart is drenched in wine But you'll be on my mind Forever Something has to make you run I don't know why I didn't come I feel as empty as a drum I don't know why I didn't come I don't know why I didn't come I don't know why I didn't come

She is every bit the same kind of person as her playing style infers.

I waited 'til I saw the sun
I don't know why I didn't come
I left you by the house of fun
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come
When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand
Catching teardrops in my hand
My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever
Out across the endless sea
I would die in ecstasy
But I'll be a bag of bones
Driving down the road alone
My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever
Something has to make you run
I don't know why I didn't come
I feel as empty as a drum
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come
Thanks guy
