I found “in hell I’ll be in company” one day while at work. I played it over and over again for weeks on end. It got to the point where clients would request it. A few months of this go by, and my colleagues pitch in and buy me a banjo for my 50th birthday. Now I’m learning to play. Thank you for the inspiration. And thank you for the Tab. I will start practicing immediately.
Crawdaddy! Thank you so much man, your tabs on banjohangout are great, this is incredible. TDS is the reason i picked up a banjo, your sound is seriously one of a kind. Saw you play last year in texas, Ill see you guys again in atlanta in January. Thanks again!
I can't say how thankful I am for this. You really had no obligation to do it, but took the time to do so. I now see why it was tricky to get by ear. Now let's fingerpick the hell out of it!
I saw y’all play in Colorado this past December! (2021) and just yesterday ordered my first banjo. You in particular were an inspiration for it, and the fact that you have these videos for your fans means the world to me man, thank you so so much! The next time y’all are in the Rockies, I’ll be there!
This is great! Keep it coming! I just recently purchased a banjo and it’s because of you guys. Just learned In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company. I appreciate you doing this and can’t wait to give it a try! Huge music inspiration man.
Thanks pal, I bought a banjo because I love the music you make so much. I'm Irish living in Denmark and already have my tickets to see you guys in June, All my 4 brothers are travelling from Ireland to see you guys 😊
Dude thank you so much for this! You are one of my favorite banjo players and I have been wanting to learn all of The Dead South's songs but since I'm a beginner I'm not so good at playing by ear. But with a video like this I'll get this song down in no time. I hope to see more of these and thanks again man! This really helps. 🤘 the music you guys make is some of my favorite of all time.
So happy to see you doing this Colton! Been following you and the band for a long time and ya'll are an amazing bunch:) can't wait to come see one of your shows!
Thank you for sharing Colton, you are the person that inspired me to purchase & learn the Banjo - after a brief dable with clawhammer I decided to concentrate on three finger Scruggs style as this suits me better - I have to say that I'm both impressed & amazed that you're playing this with a pick, your skill level is off the charts.
Colton....you are amazing for everything you do....but especially this. I will see you guys on Halloween in Toronto.....but please.....if you upload all your banjo songs over time....I promise to learn them all over time. Please come at us with more. You are the reason I bought a Banjo yesterday!!!!
Awesome video! When I saw you Olympia, WA I got you and the band a gallon of my finest Honeymead. I hope you all enjoyed it and if you want some more....have someone contact me... I can get you more when you come thru Seattle on Dec 5th. ~ Fin

Great tutorial. Love the band. I've seen you in KC twice and drove out to Colorado to see you guys at Red Rocks last week. Please come back to KC, preferably a better venue like #Knuckleheads.
You're an absolute hero for this. It blew me away when I found that you had tabbed out most songs back in the day, but now this? Bruh. Any chance we could get some guitar tutorials? I've been working on a few covers, but the guitar can be difficult to discern through the mix at times.
Truly awesome and inspiring, you've encouraged me to have a go at learning banjo (and go see your show in Brixton later in the week). I know its personal, but would you recommend buying an open or closed back banjo to learn on?

The sadness inside when you find out banjo Odyssey uses a pick.
Or the happiness….
My grandpa played 4-string banjo, and always used a pic. Nice to know he wasn’t a complete anomaly.
