Hi guys...we started watching your videos in the last month or so. We really enjoy following you around. Actually we are very envious of your "vision". We hope to do this in the near future! :)

There are tours of the Akumal Art work every Monday. Great way to walk and learn about Akumal.

Thanks Glen - at the time we were there it was pretty locked down with C19. Definitely will give it a shot on our return someday.

Another great video..question for you where did you rent your car and if you don't mine me asking the cost?...its something we were not considering we were going to use local transport when we come but with covid we are thinking we may need a car for grocery runs etc...Viv

We got a ride with some friends to Cancun International since they were leaving and decided to rent a car from there and return it there and fly to our next destination on Feb 1st. WE rented from Alamo and I think after Tax & Tip it was around $850 for a month. You could do better using Expedia for car rentals. Definitely get all the insurance.

Hey guys, how did the car rental thing work out? Who did you end up renting from and were you able to decline all of the insurances, including the SLI?

So sorry for the late reply Sue - we ended up with Alamo via through Rentalcars.com. I think it ended up being around $860 with collision insurance. We are currently back in Merida and on our way to Valladolid tomorrow. We have basically followed many of your suggestions and added some other stops that were recommended to us as we traveled. We will be back in PM in about a week and would love to get together with you then ❤️

The Akumal Monkey Sanctuary rehabilitates and homes injured animals, animals from hoarders as well as animals that have been neglected. Your anger over the entrance fee was a bit ignorant and over the top. Yelling Mucho dinero at the gate attended was ridiculous. Stopped watching at that point.

Very sorry you were offended and that was not our intention. The guard agreed with us. If we understood what their mission is and how well the rehabilitation program works we would have gone in. We are big supporters of sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers. As we stated we are not fans of zoos. Again I apologize if you were offended and please give us a chance in the future to gain your respect back. You will see we are humanistic travelers and want what’s good for all mankind and all living beings ❤️

@@Spontaneous2day Thank you for your response.
I understand your position on zoos and agree.
The fee is high but it is an incredible experience. Their focus is on rehabilitation and conservation.
In addition, They are really hurting financially right now due to the impact of Covid on tourism.
They not only rescue monkeys, but other wild animals as well. They also serve as one of the only veterinary services in the area.
I would hate to see someone choose to forgo a visit based on your video.

@@annmariejarka9091 Hi Ann - I guess what we didn't convey properly was that it was too expensive for "us". If I remember correctly it was like $55 US a person. We weren't ready to spend $110 blindly. That said, with the added information you have supplied us I would not hesitate experiencing this and as a matter of fact, we are returning to this area in about a week or so, after we wrap up our Ruins tour, and I think we will go back there and not only support the project but if they allow us, shoot a mini documentary on their mission in hopes that our video will help promote them in the manner that it should be projected in. Maybe we can help shine a light on their mission and take away any doubts from future people that are on the fence like we were :-)

@@Spontaneous2day it is a lot of money go spend spontaneously, but we’ll worth it. The fee is really a donation. If you gave a chance, check them out on Instagram. They have done stunning photos and videos
Look forward to watching your video if you make one. ❤️
