It has to do with us coming out of slavery , owning homes, land, etc and they being free having accomplished nothing! Read the speech of House of Representatives in 1863(?), Edward G Morrell spelled it out beautifully; they are jealous!!

If "Zeke/Isiah Thomas directly or indirectly undertands, the faded constitutional belief by some constitional scholars, using this excuse of 3/5 a person, being saying, The U.S. Constitution does not relegate blacks to “three-fifths of a person” status. Article I, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states: “Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons.
He apparently did not, or cared to research that, excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.” The “other Persons” were slaves. So his, "FOUNDING FATHERS", wanted to bring US under ONE UNBRELLA , is historical purposed ignorance of him, NOT A LEAST STUDY (Article I, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution).
So driving the Arawak's, for the British call them indians, not the indians themselves, driving them out of God inhertited land by weapontry, the british, spain, the Arabs, and Cuba assisting with enslavement of Africans, therefore, NO CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATION ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL THE CIVIL RIGHT ERA..(400 year).. THEN HE SHOULDN'T BE INVITED TO COMMENT UPON HISTORY HE APPARENTLY HIS NOT UNDERSTOOD OF.. Luv em as a man, father, etc..BALL PLAYER...Please research Zeke...DON'T OFFER LOGIC, FOR LOGIC DOES NOT REPLACE............HUMAN TRUTH, OF MAN'S INHUMANITY TO THE ARAWAKS, AND ENSLAVED ARICANS...

Roland S.Martin brings a genius level skill set in Mass Communications and Theology and Political Science to remain an outstanding truth telling journalist of excellence. We are fortunate to have his voice and the fact that he doesn't suffer foolishness. Sports professionals and sports entertainment professionals should be required to site sources with their opinions.
As to agendas, perhaps broadcasters should be required to report who funds the speech of Mr. Whitlock and Mr. Thomas. If civil rights laws and founding documents are the USA'S CONTRACT WITH AMERICA, contract compliance has never risen above 25%.

It’s a beautiful song and much more melodic than the current national anthem. I’d be happy to have that as our “official” anthem.
EDIT: I do think many white people may just not know this song, or know it as the Black national anthem. Hopefully once aware of this, some of them will be positive about it, and it’s a song that we can all sing as Americans. It’s an American song.

The stupid shit Rolan Martin has coming from his mouth is stupid! The Constitution was written for ALL men PERIOD. The BNA is a "feel good" song that has the same effect as a gospel song... inspiration of HOPE.
The ONLY people who rely upon Hope are people who can not control the conditions affecting their physical and psychological environments.
Niether, the "black" community or the "African American" community, can control the conditions affecting their physical or psychological environments.
Without such control of conditions, no nation can be created within the concept called America.

Personally I’m just tired of all the bullsh!t gestures we are given when we start asking for reform and justice. So in reality they could have kept that playing the Black National Anthem at games bullsh!t that’s not what we asked for and push that energy into contributing to some substantive changes.
