  • This summer, contractor Granite Construction completed built a roundabout at the busy SR 9/Bickford Avenue intersection in Snohomish in just five days! This process normally takes months as most of the time traffic is not completely blocked/detoured away from the work, meaning crews have to work around that.
To accomplish this, we closed SR 9 in Snohomish and crews worked around-the-clock to not only build the roundabout but shift how traffic uses the busy intersection of SR 9 and Bickford Avenue. The project will help traffic flow in a fast-growing area while also decreasing chances for serious collisions.
During the closure crews demolished the old road, added new guardrail and signs, and re-configured the intersection with the roundabout in the middle. Now traffic can continue in any direction without needing to stop for extended periods of times to wait for breaks in traffic.
A big thank you to the city of Snohomish and its residents for their patience during this project!
