Its good but not as good as Bob Holly. Bob constantly got good height and rotation, and when he'd do it it would look so stiff. He made The Dropkick a convincing Signature.
      Okada's is pretty and nice
Hardcore Holly's is devastating. He springs up, kicks you dead in the face or neck and backflips over on his stomach. A man that size shouldn't be able to do those things.

Nate Emond you're totally right. It's meant to look like a fight and should be rough around the edges and not look like a well rehearsed choreographed act. My favourite match was Bret vs Austin at WM13 no flips no ridiculous high spots it just looked like two guys trying beat the hell out of each other and great story telling. That to me is a 5* match and what a wrestling match is supposed to look like.

    • @Jukeboksi

Take almost any line of business or game, and you quickly realize you don't win by just trying to force a win. You make the BEST DECISIONS YOU CAN, which hopefully lead you to a win. GOOD DECISIONS lead to money/wins through perseverence and hard work. Competition is more able and fierce than ever, and wrestling should portray this as well.
Now how does this relate to matches? I think we are seeing more and more of this mindset in the wrestlers themselves, and the psychology of how they build a MATCH, therefore a STORY, to pull more and more people into a SHOW. There are so many alternatives if you want to watch fights, or people acting fighting, even within the wrestling spectrum. But you cannot deny the effect dropping focus on realism has had on fans AND on workers and their excitement over the business of wrestling. The tide might turn at some point, of course.
I mean, nobody's talking about wrestling booms anymore, since wrestling has just gotten big, and I think it's gonna stay that way globally.

Zach Johnson and we know tv shows and films aren’t real. But they don’t insult us during the show or film by doing dumbass stuff. If there was a scene in a film and it was an intense high stakes film, then the characters stopped selling and doing over the top OBVIOUSLY fake it takes you out of the moment and you shut off and don’t take the rest seriously. So in wrestling they wrestle blow dolls, don’t sell moves that should hurt and start doing nonsensical moves for the sake of it, it takes you out of the moment and the night is ruined. When you se a magic show you know they aren’t sawing the woman in half but if they don’t sell it as dangerous it doesn’t come across well does it?

And that is why I have a problem with Jim Cornette as a human being.
Did Omega do stupid shit to get his name out there? Yes. Has the wrestling business gotten harder thanks to social media exposing the "real world" of professional wrestling? Yes. But has Kenny Omega moved further away from the "crimes" Jim Cornette has charged him with? Yes.
Yes, I admit, Omega can be a bit too animated and has weird facial expressions and it's not always for me, but he did what he did to get name recognition into the world.
Now that he wrestles a bit more serious and tries to have good matches with virtually anyone, Jim still wishes death upon him. Kenny Omega could shave his head, stop shaking like the Ultimate Warrior, quit the pointing hands and be like John Cena and Cornette would still hate him because in Jim's world, "it doesn't matter what he does now, it's what hes done in the past." Theres no road to redemption in Cornettes world. And it's really sad.

Kenny's generation didn't destroy kayfabe.......you guys did. And then the newer generation had to re-shape pro-wrestling and kill themselves cuz the guys two generations before them ruined the business and MADE SURE that any generation after them would know the business. People will say "Oh, Cornette is stuck in the past." But his criticism of the match was pretty fair. It was long. There was a shit ton of big moves that got kicked out of. Lot of cooperation that was obvious. The cringe-inducing Dragon Superplex didn't look like two guys fighting. The backdrop through the table was probably the most impressive spot. Really looked like a brutal wipeout. Match didn't really pick up till the end. Lot of rehashed shit from earlier Omega and Okada matches. Nothing too wild or crazy there. Probably not even a top 10(or 20) NJPW match.

That's fine, just don't call it a "6 Star Match" because I'm sorry, it's not. Some people will just have a totally different view of what pro wrestling is. Outside of Solo Sikoa and “the Samoan spike,” Okada’s “Rainmaker” finisher has to be the worst finisher ever. It’s a friggin lariat! And I get comments about the setup to the damn clothes line. Well Rhea Ripley uses that same setup for a head butt, a drop kick, and a super kick and none of those are her finishers

This is still Jim's closest thing to a compliment! Also, his spotfest argument or overselling argument is weightless. He likes this match and I think he would of gave it 4.5/5 .

People are such crybabies. Jim Cornette is a wrestling history guy, he has great wealth of knowledge and plenty of experience in the business... But he's also a man in his 60s who grew up in the days when wrestling was treated with a LOT more respect, and he saw things change.
It's a guy with opinions, and they're based on him living through something most of his listeners are decades removed from. Stop crying about it, you don't have to agree with him. He doesn't need a bunch of 12 year olds on the internet who only like wrestling from Japan to agree with him. And it doesn't change the fact, all opinions are valid and informed by individual experiences.
If you disagree that much, start your own wrestling podcast and see how much YOU have to say before you run out of things to talk about.

Jim: The whole match looked too cooperative. 90% OF ALL WRESTLING LOOKS COOPERATIVE CORNETTE! JESUS, who would lay on the ground while you play to the crowd, climb the ropes, and leap from them with an elbow drop? Who would let you place them atop a turnbuckle, drape their arm over you and body drop them from the top rope? Then Jim bitches about the punches. Who cares about the punches?! I want to see the story unfold, the moves and athleticism. Jim, stop with the stasis and time freeze man...the 80's are gone. YOUR BOYS exposed and ruined the old business. These guys are just trying to do what they love in the new landscape.

When u go watch a movie, I doubt youd like to see green screens popping up or bloopers being left in. You go in knowing it's fake wanting to believe/ invest yourself. Yes everyone knows it's fake. We can all be reminded after. While it's going on, the point is to make you believe it's real. Now I don't agree with everything he says but I do side with him that it should be treated and presented as real just like a movie presents you a product that wants you to believe it's real and invest yourself with the characters and action.
