I know that my good deeds & prayers is not enough to make me holy & be saved only by the GRACE & Mercy of God through the BLOOD OF JESUS. But I want to be close to God like a friend that's why I do my best to follow JESUS commandments to love one another, love my enemies & pray for those who hates me . If we do all these things we will be provided by God w/ His perfect PEACE.
The elders in the Antioch church demonstrated great wisdom in their approach. Yet another example of the power of the testimony as we come to this expression of God’s ways. When in doubt, seek wisdom from Holy Spirit🙏
Notice though that all 4 of these things that were immediately required of Gentile converts are found not in the Ten Commandments, but in the book of the Law, or Torah, so this chapter cannot be used to support the claim that the Law of God as given through Moses was nailed to the cross.
Sexual immorality would fall under not committing adultery. We know that sexual immorality can spread diseases and infections. Food sacrificed to idols would fall under not worshipping other gods. Probably not prepared safely in a way a Jew would prepare it. Abstaining from blood and eating strangled animals is basic health advice. Meat from strangled animals is not drained of blood, and it spoils. You'd likely get sick eating it. Keeping away from blood would prevent the spread of blood borne diseases amd parasites. They didn't have sophisticated hospitals and vaccines and microscopes then. All 4 of these things say to me that God cares about our physical health, too and He desires that we care for these bodies properly. You can live a good long life with your foreskin still attached. Not as long if you eat ill-prepared food and sleep around.
Excellent! Right to the point brother. I appreciate how you conveyed this subject. We will be discussing this chapter this coming Sunday. Thanks again!
Thank you for these short summery lessons that have helped me teach my jr class at church. The downloadable print out is my go to for the book of Acts.
Im a Gentile used to be Catholic now im born again i follow Jesus.. i observe the Sabbath on Saturday & I am doing my best not to eat pork, sea shells etc that in old testament God did not want us to eat .
It's not needed to obey the law of Moses yet we should learn from it and the old testament. We definitely have to obey the 27 books of the new testament though. I hope God helps you with this!
And that's OK. What's not OK is telling others that they're required to do likewise. We are under a New Covenant, totally separated from the Mosaic Covenant and accompanying Law. (Heb :13)
I’d suggest watching Robert Breaker videos, and stay in prayer in it. He explains great and shows examples of drawing simple things to help us and always provides chapters and verse. You don’t need to old law of Moses Galatians and some other books taught this directly, but Corinthians teaches we shouldn’t judge those who decide not to eat certain foods but those who do follow that shouldn’t teach others to because it’s not the truth and God says there is no point in following it and aims at it for there is a new covenant and we’re not under that anymore because Jesus is now the law that’s Jesus’ testimony that’s his gospel.
Many commentaries twist the wording of “requirements” or “ordinances” being “nailed” to the cross to mean that Christ's death did away with the law, so that the law couldn't be “against” believers any more. But it wasn't God's law that was against believers; it was the sins that they committed. The phrase "handwriting of ordinances" refers to the record of sins, or the indictment that required the penalty of death. The word "handwriting" is a technical term in Greek papyri that means "a memorandum of debt" or "a writing by hand". The idea that the law was nailed to the cross means that God forgave the debt of sins that humans owed to him after breaking God's laws. Christ died on the cross to pay the debt of sins on behalf of humans.
The John Mark he speaks of is the eventual writer of the gospel of Mark. He was not one of the 12 Apostles. St Paul eventually got over his anger with Mark and evidently forgave him. Mark became faithful and Paul sent for him to accompany him and Mark became his loyal attendant. When Mark wrote in his gospel of a young man grabbed by soldiers when Jesus was arrested and the young man slipped out of his garment and ran away naked: some people believe Mark was writing about himself?
To be like Christ is to practice His Sabbath (Hebrews 4:9-11), to eat sanctified food ( no blood, no strangled, no foods offered to idols, no pork, no lobster) like He did, to be physically circumcised like He was, to wear tzi tzi like He did. Acts 15:19-21 says that the gentiles turning to God were required to observe 4 Moses Laws as the rest will be heard in the synagogue every Sabbath for obedience to God’s Laws. These early gentile believers were gathering on Sabbath like Jesus did. They were instructed to no longer be sexually immoral, not eat strangled food, food offered to idols and blood. Revelations chapters 2 and 3 says that those who oractice sexual immorality and eat foods sacrificed to idols will face His wrath or their names will be removed from the Book of Life. Galatians 5:21 states that those who practice sexual immorality and idolatry will not inherit God’s kingdom. The yoke that is burdensome is the physical circumcision. Otherwise James would not have required the gentiles coming to God to observe 4 of them as a start. James 1:25 says that those who look intently into the perfect Law, the Law that gives freedom, and continues in it shall be blessed. Therefore Law of Moses is not burdensome. Abraham was circumcised at 99 years old 24 years later after God appeared to him thus circumcision was not a requirement for salvation but faith in God first. It’s the same for Acts 15 in that salvation is by faith through grace alone. Observation of Laws of Moses is an act of obedience to God’s Laws. Thus James said in James 2:17-26, faith without works is dead.
It’s insane how Acts 15 doesn’t even talk about the Sabbath for the gentiles yet so many Christians twist the verse to mean you don’t need to keep Sabbath. Why don’t they believe stealing is ok now since the verse doesn’t mention that as well?
You forgot to mention that it wasn't just circumcision issues that were being talked about in Acts 15 but also the dietary law as it was implied on verse 5 & 19. You should have given clarification whether to still adhere to Leviticus 11 or not.
John 7:18-19 The person who speaks on his own authority desires to receive honor for himself. The one who desires the honor of the One who sent him is a man of integrity, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Hasn’t Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you obeys the law. Why do you want to kill me?
No, notice that this council also clearly indicate that, aside of the initial 4 immediate requirements, the new Gentile converts would learn the rest of the Torah they needed to obey in synagogue every Sabbath, verse 21. Therefore, Acts 15 cannot be used to support the claim that the Torah (book of the Law) was abolished at the cross. All 4 requirements are from the Torah, not the Ten Commandments.
@@torahobservantsda OH MY GOD , THIS IS SUCH A LIE 😡 you’re telling these people that we got to follow the laws of the tour and not the 10 Commandments but God divorced Israel did you understand what I said God divorced Israel because they are not real Jews they are the synagogue of Satan .. the skin worship themselves, and they are made themselves god upon the Earth.
