That warm synth at the beginning was everything.
It's not a synth, it's several tracks of clarinet layered on top of one another and filtered. No synths, all clarinet. :)
This may be sacrilegious, but I prefer this to the original. Perhaps it is just musical natural selection, evolving this piece to a form more adapted to contemporary society. I love this, I listen to it a lot - thanks.

Synthesizers make everything easy. Reich works with real instruments. It makes a big difference.
Steve Reich redefined music in so many ways. This is an awesome remake!

Not to my knowledge. I emailed his publisher who said he’d forward it, but never got a response ☹️ Hopefully I’ll get to talk to him about it someday.

Amazing work!! I’d like to learn more about your approach to arranging and performing this, if possible! I’m a clarinetist and music technology minor looking to incorporate a live looping scenario like this into my college graduation project. If you wouldn’t mind sharing some info, could I contact you? Just curious, did you memorize the parts you are playing live or are your reading them off a screen on the device?
Everything is memorized, but in the 3rd movement I use a color coded system of organization on the Push to keep track of where I am. I’m planning to do a behind the scenes video on this at some point so I can show everybody how it works 😀
