When this was posted, I hurried to read it myself, not realizing you were also reading it, but I enjoyed experiencing it again :) I was first introduced to Sheckley's work in the Sci Fiction section of the SciFi/SyFy website, edited by Ellen Datlow. Protection was particularly memorable. The Monsters got me thinking that there are quite a few short stories told from the aliens' perspective, but rarely any novels.

There are indeed too few books from the aliens' perspective (though work like The Sparrow and Blindsight comes close, in introducing us to entirely different points of view), but surely we can work on that oversight in the years ahead!
