You hit the nail on the head when you say that this track represents you going up against all odds, and overcoming it. The bramble levels are just that - just the two Kongs traversing a massive bramble hedge where literally one wrong move will hurt them, not to mention all the enemies trying to get them. The track feels like it's telling you "it's gonna be fine. Take a deep breath, and just do what you gotta do. Trust that it'll be enough to get you through, and go"
It’s like the musical version of what it feels like to walk a tightrope high in the sky or something. Amazingly beautiful and calm, but once you start moving, any misstep could be your last.
Video games are often a combination of traditional/digital art, writing, music, AND cinematography all in one (to varying degrees depending on the game). I will never understand why people outside of gaming don't take them seriously as an art form. My own parents think they're just a pointless waste of time with no real value, and its always bothered me.
Your reflections about this franchise are crazily epic! And the best part is that it's actually true! This channel makes me have even more respect for the DKC games than I already have!
Always loved that soundtrack. This may be your best video yet. Very well thought out and a great way of thinking about the level. Keep up the good no great work
Could this video be your opus? You summarized the spectrum of emotions and interpretations this song and stage encapsulates in such a solid way, I doubt there's a need for anyone else to cover this topic. I can concur with the sentiments shared, so I'd probably just be repeating, but I feel it can't be lauded enough so heck, maybe one day!
One of the most beautiful piece of video game music. This Forest Interlude and The opening theme to Super Mario World just make you feel something special. Something you can’t describe you can only feel.
I'm wondering... ever since dk2 first released why a hacker has'nt given Donkey Kong as a playable character? Always found it weird hes only playable in 1 of the 3 games
Sorry if you maybe mention this in the video, but this level provides so much tension alone through even just the background visuals. The background makes the level seem so much more tense than it actually is. Whereas other levels just have skies or forests or large open environments- this level just makes you feel like you’re enveloped by thorny barbs- even when the level itself offers some breathing room at times. Then you add in some music that while chill, often takes forever to resolve, teetering the same notes over and over while being modulated, and the whole thing just winds up being sensory overload. You’re kind of just in awe of the whole thing. You’re simultaneously high in the sky with only the breeze, but in danger of merely touching pretty much anything.
All this can also be said of Bramble Scramble and the bramble section of Animal Antics, though Designing For did videos on those levels. Screech’s Sprint, meanwhile, plays it for a short time, but it has Bad Bird Rag to communicate the urgency of the race through most of the level.
My head canon was actually aided by another video of yours. What exactly is this level and how in the world are there brambles in the sky, above an island? Considering that the true ending shows "the Kore", I'm assuming that's either an ancient being or maybe something of an artifact. Either way the level feels like a test, not necessarily to impede you but to test you (on timing). K.Rool has beefed himself since last Diddy beat him as the speedster type, and DK was captured by being too relaxed. I believe that the Bramble are a by product of something that K.Rool found, which probably gave him the ability to not only create/or take over (never really explained but then again maybe that why he needed DK's banana's to fuel the Kore), but Rule Crocodile Isle. This "being" in the Kore has to abide by K.Rools plans but didn't say anything about lending a hand with tests (the lost world levels and the golden barrels to access them)
The music I think is calm like that because the levels themselves are among the most difficult in the game. One wrong move and you are falling into the spikes. Floors, ceilings, walls. They are everywhere. And it makes for the toughest most precise platforming challenges in the game. And don't get me started on the wind section with Squawks in the true final level.
My comment is going to be obvious and perhaps a bit redundant but I think humanity is the best way to describe this song. You know it's good without anyone telling you but what does it mean? Well anything. And that's not to be confused with something that means nothing because it tries to be everything but an everything that anybody can feel. A universal. That's humanity. 👏
I prefer Bramble Scramble Dkc2 even though it's an overall challenge for the kongs and Squawks. Also it's a crime that Stickerbush Symphony is not extendable on the Nintendo music app along side Aquatic Ambiance.
I also prefer Forest Interlude, but there’s no denying the impact and beauty of Stickerbrush Symphony. I wouldnt call it overrated at all, it is an amazing song in its own right and truly is one of the most emptionally important songs for many people.

Well said, it really is a very personal level and piece of music

Love your channel bro! Well explained and easy to watch!
Thanks so much!!

this might be your best video, the music really is so beautiful

Absolutely agree🙏🏻
Great video, thank you for celebrating this masterpiece
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting :)

Perfectly said!!

Almost brought a tear to my eye with this vid
🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love this track with this level. It flows so well with it. Sometimes I would just stand there just so I could listen to the music lol.
Absolutely!
My favorite song ever! Great video :D
Thank you!!
If I could have only one Super Nintendo game, it would be Donkey Kong Country 2. It's just that good. Even after 100%ing (or is that 102%?) it twice.
Completely fair!
It's a bummer the original checkpoint video is gone but at least there are some new ones for now
Exactly
Beautiful
Thank you🙏🏻

I love that theory! Thanks for the comment
Damn, how do you make these videos so fast?
Lots of spare time😂

Absolutely!!
Unpopular opinion, Stickerbush symphony is fantastic in all realms, but the Super smash bros version is under rated beyond belief
Fair!!
I Agree.
That Violin
Yup hearing every instrument have a turn in the beginning is flat out gorgeous, you can hear how much fun the musicians are having.
Another classic!!
Thank you! :)
This is just what I needed

Right!! It's so odd that it isn't extendable.
Do you know the game beeny, it captures the vibe of dkc really well
I do not! I'll have to look into it
@TheJustintendo I hope you enjoy it
🥰
6:12 Swamps of Krem Quay, not in the depths of Crocodile Cauldron.
Yeah I misspoke
never played the first 3 games ..... i rly got to right ?
Yes!
Great video but major mistake - the song is titled 'StickerBRUSH Symphony', not 'StickerBUSH Symphony'.
It's actually not! It's Bush according to Nintendo.
Most overrated song in DKC2. Forest Interlude is the definitive soundtrack in this game.
I absolutely love Forest Interlude, but I do prefer Stickerbush Symphony.
I remember when I was a little kid and thought my opinion was the end all be all. But then I grew up and decided to join reality. Good luck lil fella.
I also prefer Forest Interlude, but there’s no denying the impact and beauty of Stickerbrush Symphony.

I mean, Forest Interlude WAS David Wise's personal favorite track in the game for a reason!
