Good Build 👍 I know how much time goes into it. Just finished remodeling/refurbishing my 1985 motorcycle cruiser. You've given me some ideas for a back end build on the 2000 Gold.Wing Trike I recently bought....
Well Done, Sir!!! It looks like it handles great around town. Have you had it out to the highway (or whatever they call them in England) yet? As soon as I sell two of my antique bikes, I'll be looking for a VW Trike. They're not as easy to find here in the U.S.
Thanks for your comments, and it does handle superb on the motorway /highway, cruise all day at 70mph and straight as a die, no shakes, no wobbles. Cheers, Bob
Amigo your project was very beautiful. I'm in Brazil and I'm 64 years old and I'm about to carry out a project to make my tricycle, which is a very old dream. I would like to know if you can provide me with the diagram of this front suspension that was oversized and the same as the front of the Boom tricycle. I wonder if you ask me to help with this front that you made.
Hi thanks for your kind words, I no longer have any drawings for the trike, they went when the trike was sold. Good luck with your build, and don't give up, atb,Bob
Excellent. Total dedication, I like it very much. I was in middle of building a volks Rod, but watching this I think I will go for a trike similar to yours. Looks more fun.
Having built a trike myself (with bike engine) I can certainly appreciate the work you put into this and I can say the end result was worth all your hard work. I would love to know who you bribed at DVLA to give it new status as like mine it doesn't have a new engine!
Hi Martin yes lots of hard work for almost 5 years, every day, all day. The engin was completely rebuild from new line bored crankcases, all new parts. I kept a build record of all the parts, wiring diagrams, drawings, stock components, frame manufacture Inc my weld certs. The folder was 3" thick and handed into DVLA . I was also surprised to get a "new vehicle ", reg. Thanks for your interest, cheers, Bob
Cheers Adrian, yes you are right, building the trike no problem, editing pictures and videos on a computer!!, not my scene, thanks again for the comments
@@MrBobmeehan2 it’s not easy, I used to do the same thing with Power Point presentations, that aside I love the trike and the build, bet it’s a great ride
Hi I expected a q plate, but when I decided to build a trike I spent 6 months researching and designing the trike I kept all the information in a a4 ring folder (build manual) Every part of the build was documented, photographs and all receipts for all new components. The specifications for all my hand made parts were logged along with specifications, all welding done by myself, all my welding certificates supplied. My build manual was 3 inches thick. When I took the trike for the IVA I took along all my documents, I had to take my tools and overalls in order to take apart various components of my trike at the request of the examination. The test took 8 hours, all the information was entered into the DVLA system. When the trike passed, I applied for registration at Swansea, I took the pass certificate and all my build documents, and left them with them. I was then asked to take the trike to my local DVLA registration center for inspection, (another trailer job) A few days later DVLA Swansea confirmed that my tri would be registered as a new vehicle. 63 plate, V5 ,manufacture, Meehan. Model, Wolf, I was as surprised as you probably were, The moral, keep all records of your build, Hope this answers your question, ATB Bob
Carn,t realy put a price on it, materials, and all new stock parts cost me about £7,000. My labour, 5 years work don,t bear thinking about. This was the only one ever built and registered by DVLA as a "New Vehicle", named Meehan Wolf.
hi,you are right, the sound does not come through on the vidio, those straight through cherry bomb exhausts sounded great from the crossover firing from the vw air cooled engine.
