I want one for sure. We're in the process of buying a house so talking it up as a furniture piece is probably best chance of convincing the wife. It is a good looking and sounding unit.
okay okay okay, this is doing my nut in, you've played the little lick at 6:05 in a bunch of recent videos and it's driving me crazy. i know that song, i know how to play it, i've heard that so many times on TV, movies, commercials, i've heard it sampled in other songs, i've heard it on the radio, i've heard it in the background in stores and coffee shops. WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING RYAN?!?!!??

Got mine last week, just did two gigs with it, Indie, Pop, Rock...sounded great and very loud. Took my pedals great too even without running the time based effects through the FX loop.
Obviously the light weight is a massive bonus too. My Hamstead artist RT60 is redundant at the moment.
There's nothing quite like a nice round tight bottom end.
Just seen your review (Aug-24) and have to say you've done a great job in showing the 'clean' side of this amp as, like you, I'm essentially a clean player playing American and Rockabilly, but as you've pointed out it can certainly do the overdriven side if you want it to. Great review. It would be great to hear it with a Gretsch but I'm Sur eit would be good.

I've been kinda interested in the combo. Never had a blackstar amp but from what I've seen they all sound awesome. See a lot needing repair tho. Not this model (yet) but a lot of their older amps. So it makes me a little reluctant. Kinda been interested in the vht handwired ods clone thing too. By all appearances seems like one heck of a value.
Really looking forward to trying the combo version.

On an ad on reverb confirms the reverb is digital.
I’m thinking about buying one, still have to check it out personally in a store. The features sound awesome (weight, headphone jack, watt reduction etc.), I’m just afraid that it’s a big step backwards tonewise, because I love the sound of my Engl Screamer.

I have this amp and noticed two things that I am questioning: When powering up, does it take like 2-3 seconds for the Blackstar light to come on? Also, my fan doesnt automatically come on. Wondering if it is temperature activated?
Yes I’ve got , light comes on after a couple of seconds ‘ I gig every week ‘not noticed the fan coming on ??
I see the head has a cooling fan, heat dissipation is usually overlooked by most manufacturers and the boards and tubes have a shorter Life.

I love mine but why would they go to the trouble to add a light in the cab for the logo that he head cannot power? 🤦🏼♂️ total oversight
Been thinking of getting a proper pedal platform amp to start jamming and maybe gigging with (a Spider and Amp Sims aren't gonna help in the real world). I need an amp that covers Beatles to Amon Amarth and I kinda want something with tubes. Sound like this might do the job. I'll probably get one of the combos to save some money though.

Too big. But nice and good sounding. A wife approved amplifier is sure a good thing, but the volume would not be compatible with familly life. Garage is the place. Underground nuke shelter/wine cellar even better.
Nowadays players are so into the 'pedal platform' idea they no longer use the dirt/distortion/ channel (if available) of their amps.
Me to. But i recently redicovered the high-gain channel on my combo and it didn't sound bad... after some time time and tweaking.
Many people didn't realize their amps got a nice tube overdrive built-in. Perhaps the Fender 'tradition' of Gain/More gain channel sound atrocity is the culprit for this...
Volume totally compatible designed with both the bedroom and stage in mind. Don’t take my sorts for it dig a little deeper….

In a few years, if that long, you'll be wondering where all those pretty little amps went. If you remember them at all. You'll think, they made a bunch of them so how come they don't turn up on the used market? And the answer will be, because they all died prematurely because of their disposable construction.
But as a focal point in a room, be sure you have throw pillows that compliment, and not clash, with the neutral color scheme of the amp. But beware that you maintain a juxtaposing color, and textural theme for the rest of the room so the amp pops, and doesn't get buried by the ambient surroundings. Always remember that any great decorating starts with the walls and moves in. So start there, with your eyes on the prize, your new focal point, the amp. And always use coasters (whimsical) when using your Blackstar end table.
