    Ductless mini-split systems already have integrated voltage monitoring. Installing a surge protector to the disconnect is all that was needed.

    Thanks for showing me the ICM493 I was not familiar with the product until today. I would've loved seeing the buck boost transformer being wired up. I use the buck/boost on a regular for well pumps most of the voltage on the southwest coast of FL is 208. Thanks for the video.

    I like how it’s a contactor and transformer if you had to replace them. Giving the life span of common surge protectors there deffinately going to outlast most. Simple and to the point

    I was looking at these, but am also looking at the whole house surge protection at the pole, and inside the main panel (about 150' away from pole). Would the ICM device be needed with whole house protection?

      Whole-home SPD doesn’t protect you against brownouts, under/over voltage which is common in the summer and prevalent in some areas…. Thats what the voltage monitor portion does on the icm493

    You made that video idiot proof. I wish I had the patience to break things down and go into that much detail when explaining new applications to my crews. Great video man!

    Sometimes you can call the power company to correct the voltage and if it’s on their equipment, you don’t pay anything but they can’t always do that and you do need that buck n boost sometimes.

    Great video. Need recommendation on what buck boost transformer to use. Line voltage is 252V, power company says no adjustment needed, so i need a buck boost. Mini split condenser is 230V, with max 240v - getting faults due to voltage. Buck boost you recommended is 240 to 220.

    • @TexasEngineer
      @TexasEngineer 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In North American the voltage is 240v +-5% and 252 volts is 5% over so it is within tolerance for North America. Your 230V, max 240 volts does not seem to be a North American unit. You need to investigate if your unit is compatible for North America usage from the manufacturer.

  • @TexasEngineer
    @TexasEngineer 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The power company’s voltage range is +- 5%. Higher than 5%, contact your power company to fix your voltage. They can put a recored on your power and pinpoint voltage issues. Sometimes a neighboring industry has large power demands at certain times. Only a recorder can find that information. I am setting to -+6% to prevent false over/under voltage faults.

      @@TaddyDigest Ask your power company for the Power Quality Department to get hep. You better have an accurate volt meter because they will pull their’s out and measure your voltage and you don’t want to be caught with a bad meter.

    If it were to lose 4 mov and I were to set it for 1 if that gets taken out will the unit continue to run unprotected. When set up on last mov would I set it for manuel reset so I know to replace it as there is no more protection?

    Is there a mini split made that can replace the traditional unit you see near the floor in a bonus room? The orientation of the vent is down vs up. Is there a solution to this to use the same location? TIA Tad!

    why choose a system that requires a new board after the surge protection is activated? ... wouldn't it be smarter to select the Ditek DTK Kool Guard which can reset itself after a surge event? (same price I think, for either)

    I am installing IMC 493 it arrived today. Good news I found a technician that was able to troubleshoot the circuit board and replaced it wala ductless is up and running total cost $ 645.00 I burchased the board $365.00.I saved $7,000.00
