This was a great rivalry. In the early 80's there were 3 dominant teams,(76ers, Celtics,Lakers),of which any one was the only team that could defeat the other two on a consistent basis. It was normally the home team that won.

In two separate interviews I heard Larry Bird say one of the very best players he ever played against was Andrew Toney .Being from the area and watching all their games had Toney not had the feet injury he easily would have been a Hall of Fame player as he was great and could do it all,I loved Andrew Toney he could flat out play ......the Boston Strangular

Dr,J had 27 Pts. by halftime & itlooked easy.The 2nd half he hardly shot & endedup w/ 35! Must5 see 4 J fans

Out of all the great playoff runs from the Dr. J years, this was the first time i seen the Sixers playing so confidently on both ends of the court and not letting the Lakers get the upper hand. After all the frustration it was finally such relief to see the Sixers have that one year where they were absolutely the best.
