Have you tried using a Gelli Plate with Distress Oxide Inks and collage? It’s such a fun way to create unique textures! 🌟 Let me know which technique you’re excited to try or any questions you have! 👇 And don’t forget to subscribe for more creative tutorials! 😊
Yup, the "beach fences" stencil is my favorite too. They really add dimension and crank up the imagination in a piece. I was glad to see you pull that out after it's vacation. That middle dark area really has some great ghost colors in it - bluish, greenish, burnt-sienna-ish, haha. I think this is one of your best pieces.
Love this one Trina! Enjoy seeing the gelli plate transfer and collage in this work. Lots of fun textures, marks and colors. Especially love the fence-like mark way off in the distance, gives the painting a lot of depth. 🤩😍🤩
Thank you Trina, lots going on in this one, and l enjoyed watching the process. Love when you put the mat on, we call it a "mount" in the UK 😁 See you at the next.....Alioban ❤
Interesting. I must admit this wasn’t my favourite, and it kind of just felt like blocks of colour until you created that “fence” texture using the stencil. That somehow changed it from blocks to an abstract horizontal’ish landscape. It’s amazing how a few lines do that. Did love the abstract tree/leaf transfer. And the piece of collage above now looks like a land bridge over a very … 🤔 can’t think of the word. Not industrial, but if farmland was industrial 🤷♀️ Maybe blue steel gravel & coal fields?
Hey Trina. Do you have the Graphite Kuretake colours? I used the glueing crumpled tissue paper onto watercolour paper with matte medium technique to make a very textured rocky cliff shape, used some beeswax over the top of the tissue for a resist, then used my Graphite Grey, Green, Brown colours & some Raw Sienna over the top of the tissue paper & omg 😱 It looks amazing! You’d love the texture, especially where the wax is sitting & the watercolour has dried in tiny droplets. And the colours look gorgeous! Especially with the Graphite Grey & Green. Started another painting using them & the scraping technique & on rough paper, the grey & blue granulate beautifully in the sky. And the green & grey scrape created the prettiest rock face. Wish I could copy them to try some different techniques & do the sky of the first one without ruining it. Only problem with glueing the tissue is that the paper curls up a bit. And you have to wait for drying (sigh). Next project is going to be using this layered Gelli print technique of yours, to create a painting of the Holtsós region of Iceland. I’m hoping wax resists will create the way the water rivulets branch out like tree branches. Have learned so much from watching you in such a short time. Thank you 😊
That sounds so interesting! I don’t have the Kuretake graphite colors…yet. I’ve seen them and been tempted to buy them. Love how you’re experimenting and creating your own techniques. Hopefully soon we can share our work in the community. Thanks Allison. 🥰
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina You’ll definitely love them! Nice earthy colours but still have colour in them. And I was very surprised to see the granulating & colour separation on the rough watercolour paper. Looked gorgeous as clouds
@@avlwnc13 I like the textures and layers I can create using the distress oxides on a gelli plate with paper masks. I use them in other ways as well but this is my favorite. Thanks for watching. 😍
Love the distress oxides! Especially the tea dye and walnut stain as it appears on the back side of MEP. I’ve noticed that Hobby Lobby has discontinued Tim Holtz line. I think I did find it at Michael’s but it was pricey. I know it can be ordered but is TH about to go away? Love the bridge like structure created with the MEP piece!❤
YES! The oxide inks are super fun. I agree that collage piece looks like a bridge. I can still find TH at Michael’s. I haven’t heard that the line is being discontinued. 🫤Have a good weekend! 😍

Thank you! I really like the dark area. Thinking I might play with that idea of dark vs light, hard vs soft. 🤔 I love that stencil sooooo much! 😍

Thanks so much Alison. ‘Mount’ makes sense as well. Cheers! 😍

Thank you! It did get a bit blocky but I liked it in the end. 😍

Thanks for such a creative video. I hope you'll explain why you like using distress oxide on a gel plate.

You, too, my friend, you too!
Love watching you work ❤ The plastic you use on back of gel plate is it transparency sheet?
Thank you. The plastic sheet is a cover sheet for reports. 😍
