    Roman doesn't actually care about the country. He knows he will be fine either way because he's a rich white guy. He only wants Mencken to win because he has an in with him and will have presidential access, much like his father did, for help with things like blocking the deal and whatever other favors he might need.
    I believe Shiv does care about the country, but unfortunately she's also selfish and mainly looking out for herself, and it bit her in the ass in this episode. In any event, she will also be just fine if Mencken wins because she's a billionaire.
    Kendall only cares about being CEO and whoever can help him get there is who he will back regardless of what it does to the country and regardless of what he tells his kids.
    The most frightening part of all of this is that it is a very real look behind the scenes of what happens in the US on election night and the fact that the people in charge of bringing you the news all have their own agenda. Their only concern is ratings and access, not the state of the country.

      Shiv doesn't care about the country either. She pretends to. Keep in mind she quit an election because Logan told her she could take over Waystar.

    I didn't interpret Ken going to Shiv as a suck up move. more so he was genuinely seeking advice.
    And her encouragement could have kept him on the right side, but once he confirmed Her betrayal, all common sense, Good morals, and the safety of his children went out the window.

    All Shiv had to do was promise a deal to Greg to not talk, but she was too short sighted. Greg the Egg decided the election by telling Kendall her secret

    This episode shows how much Greg has grown through 4 seasons. Had Shiv threatened him in season 1 he would instantly flip and cower, but now in season 4 he sees that he is a valuable asset and calls her bluff.

    This episode was so stressful. Especially since it very much mirrored the actual stress of the 2016 election night. Roman was on another level and it was so painful. Shiv wanted the right things for the election but went about it all in such a selfish way.

    Exactly why they're all unserious people. Roman is so far above where he only cares who is president for the company and Kendall sees how it's wrong but chooses Mecken just because Shiv betrayed them.

    This was a fantastic episode one of the best for sure just because of the tension you could feel with Kendall about what is right for the country but also ultimately his kids but then seeing ultimately the selfishness of him that he has the privilege to shield himself and his family away by hiring security and having wealth and sacrificing everyone else for the corporate interest

    • @lithium23
      @lithium23 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the premise is bizzaro world logic at the end of the day. Complete inversion of reality. Wealthy, especially in NY, vote in people who are the opposite of someone like Mencken because they have security and gated communities, so ultimately the policies that actually make it unsafe in a city doesn't directly impact them.

    Idk why you guys completely turned on Ken this season, like most of the season has shown that, with Logan passing, he's kind of developed the traits Logan thought he was missing to wear the crown.
    This season shows Kendall being more cold-blooded, shows that he has developed a killer instinct and that between the 3 he is the best suited to be Logan's successor. It seems like you're looking at Ken with season 1 lenses, and even if there's a bit of truth in that, he clearly has shown growth.

    • @neonoires
      @neonoires 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Ken isn't being cold blooded though. He's acting on pure emotion and stupidity. He can't even be real to the people who matter about what he wants and why he's doing something which is what Kendall's issue has been since the start of the show. As Matsson called it, Logan was an asshole but he knew what he wanted. Anyway, they all can make a case about why they'd be a good fit and also why they'd be a horrible fit.
