Elusive UK duo Ilgot’n’Gane are back with a two-track single on Maceo Plex’s Ellum imprint, delivering a duo of captivating club cuts on the Tony De Vit feat. J.O.S.H.U.A release.
Returning after a recent hiatus, the Birmingham-based producers, known for releases on Low Steppa’s Simma Black and This Is Music, showcase their evolved sound.
The lead track, ‘Tony De Vit’, combines fierce breaks, driving acid lines, and chunky, swinging grooves as a tribute to the iconic DJ and producer whose hard house and hard NRG sounds left an indelible mark on Birmingham’s vibrant ’90s dance scene. “Building the track in Birmingham’s Custard Factory, where Tony himself worked in the ’90s, we wanted to honor his contribution to our city’s musical legacy. Our goal was to create something true to the spirit of the ’90s that resonates with today’s audience,” the duo shared.
Accompanying track ‘Sequel’ shifts gears, blending crispy MPC beats with rolling piano stabs to create a deeper, dynamic soundscape.
