I don't think any of you understand what Barrett is doing here. She grasps the emotion of this song so boldly, it bypasses anyone who won't actually look at the lyrics and think about what's supposed to be felt. The songs about being broken, and that's what Barrett was trying to portray. She does have a musical theatre background, mind you. The song itself is about being broken, and that's how Barrett wanted to sound. Of course she's gonna get choked up and things aren't gonna come out the right way, but that's because she's doing her best to portray what the song is feeling, not just her voice.
I love Barrett, but she definitely hecked up the belt. It's more of a control issue than an emotion issue, though. She likely pushed herself too hard. If it wasn't gonna sound good in rehearsal, they probably weren't gonna let it fly on stage. So she probably ended up slipping up there. But admittedly, that part in All Too Well is HARD and I'm saying this as someone trying to sing this song.
Why are people comparing? Stage performers are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different to Musical performers. She has a musical voice, a voice that lasts and is loud and strong, that's a musical voice so there's no need to hate.
This girl is so underrated .. she has a great voice and she continued to grow since this video.. she is great vocally in Mean Girls on Broadway.. I hope one day she gets a Tony as she is brilliant
She was clearly caught up in the emotion of the song and she went for it, and she hit every note, which is hard to do at that pitch. Good for her! I expect nothing less from my queen.
Taylor’s version already had me crying for years and now this, gosh this song, the lyrics are just insanely heartbreaking and Barrett did a great job😭🌻
3:07 is so brutal because to me it reminds me of the false start of healing after a break up. Like it's been 3 months since you talked and you think you're over it but you hear their voice again and it just sucks all the breath out of you yet again. So real.
I watched this years ago and remember thinking that finally someone has done justice to this beautiful ballad. 6 YEARS LATER, MY THEATRE KID ASS IS WATCHING THIS AGAIN AND REALIZING THAT IT'S BARRET FRICKING WILBERT WEED SINGING THIS TAYLOR SWIFT SONG AND OH MY GODS I CAN'T. MY TWO GODDESSES UGH
Take into consideration what Anne Hathaway did with "I Dreamed a Dream" this song if you really listen to the lyrics is heartbreaking and devastating. That part that some some are saying she messed up/ changed is the breaking point of this character. This is A+ acting and emotion fam.
A+ acting and emotion?? She's literally just stand there itching her arm and looking down reading the lyrics like on what planet is this performance A+?
Cate Marie lol yes can you go up to a mic and give out that same emotion? Can you do better? I’m an actor and performer and no matter what, when there is a crowd in front of you, it’s all acting. She killed it. You hear that applause at the end?
Honestly this is the best bridge I've ever heard of this song. It really packs the punch it needs and keeping the entire bridge in a higher key is such a smart choice cause it makes the lyrics stand out so much more!!!!
To everyone leaving hateful comments below, she's belting. She has a voice for musical theatre(although I think she sings this beautifully) I think it is actually full of emotion, Especially at the bridge. I understand it's people's opinions but there is no need to be horrible :)
Although, as much Taylor’s writing brings me to tears, she’s not the strongest vocalist I’ve ever heard. And Barrett has a very powerful quality to her voice, that might be catching people off guard because she is capable of more than Taylor and highlights parts of the song differently
When she sings I always feel like she's directly taliking to somebody. She's not just singing any song, she's telling something, putting herself into words. Damn she's lovable.
I really like her cover of this song! It's very theatre-esque, which is only natural since she's a musical actor :) I can see why she chose to raise her voice and sound emotional in the bridge - because it's literally the most emotional line in the song. Even Taylor would sing it this way sometimes (at least back in the RED era)
Some people think she is not like a God. It depends on everyone's characters and emotions, but for me she is honestly the best. So sensitive... Extremely sincere... Barrett Wilbert Weed! You are the coollest singer ever!
Imagine them doing this again, but with songs from "folklore" and "evermore". Imagine Barrett singing "exile", or "right where you left me" in her lower register.
Everyone should honesty stop the negativity! Barrett is an AMAZING singer; the part in the middle is BELTING! Do you people not understand? Belting is one of the most hardest things to do, and that is her specialty! Covers aren't meant to be exactly the same as the original. I love Taylor Swift, I mean she's a great songwriter and person. But she's not always perfect live!
Sophia Pan Im going spill some beans... Tay Tay doesnt write all the songs she claims she did.... I also prefer an emotional performance to a one dimension preformance
It took me 3 times of replay to fall in love with this cover. I get why most people don't like the bridge part, I didn't when I first listened to it, but now I do. 😉
Hm so i've seen so many comments criticising the bridge/middle part about how it's "bad" but it's not. The way Barrett chose to sing it was in more of a speaking/belting voice (seen a lot in her performance as Veronica in Heathers) and thats why some people are saying that it was off-pitch. It wasn't meant to be perfectly on or off pitch, it's Barretts way of singing that shows emotion. Her screaming out the words shows understanding and feeling and interpretation of the song. So for all of you saying it was bad, take a seat and read up on musical theater, and the different ways singers and performers interpret songs. I've never seen Barrett give a bad performance, and this video is just another example of how Barretts unique, extremely powerful and emotional voice has yet to let me down.
It's not because she was belting. She belts in Mean girls, and elphaba belts in Wicked, but it is on key. She is off key here. I'm not sure what notes she was going for, so I can't tell if she is sharp or flat, but he is not on the note--she is slightly above it or below it. However, there isn't a singer alive who hasn't hit a bad note, and she was caught up in the emotion of it. I'll take emotion over perfect pitch any day. It was the first time I heard the words to this song. She acted it. Brava!
Omg she portrays the song so well, and not just because her voice is so angelic, it's because she can actually act how the song is supposed to sound, the message the song is trying to make is what she's acting like. This girl is so flipping talented I love her voice and I love her. 💙
There's definitely a genuine connection with the song. Not to mention, with the release of the short film and 10 minute version, it seems to be a song that touches a lot of people on a personal level. Barrett has such a skill with conveying the raw emotion without letting it take over her voice. That's a challenge for me; there's certain songs i need to take breaks to cry.
People are so fucking rude!! Barrett is an excellent performer, if you don't agree with me try looking at her performance of "dead girl walking" from the heathers musical - one of my favorites!! Comparing a person who performs in musicals and a person who just sings is not fair at all. She has a different way of performing, but I like it, she puts a lot of emotion into the part that people are claiming is terrible ( after 3:00 ). You are entitled to your own opinions but some of you need to tone it down a notch and at least give this woman the respect she deserves. She is truly passionate and incredible at what she does.
I walked through the door with you, the air was cold, But something 'bout it felt like home somehow and I Left my scarf there at your sister's house, And you still got it in your drawer even now. I feel like this rendition is gorgeous, especially considering she is basically singing her feelings. So when she kinda loses her breath it may not be intentional, but it kind of adds to the performance as she is supposed to be singing such an emotional song. When Taylor Swift does a really emotional performance of it she also loses her breath as do many other singers. I feel like she is actually singing like she is using the words to currently tell her story rather than singing a song that she wrote when she was really emotional.
I wanna start with saying, I like Taylor Swift. I just find it unfair for people to bash what I find a really great cover, by people who probably didn't get what Barrett was doing in the whole song. I've already seen people that understand what I'm saying comment here on youtube, and I find it funny that their comments go unnoticed. To all those that said Barrett destroyed this song, ask any of us why she didn't...:)

Does anyone know who is that guy and what is he doing back there?
Screwedupbut4given C. I think we all would look Barrett at that way

this comment is four years old but uh
im 14 and this is deep
You don’t think anyone watching this video except for you realized that?
I love Barrett, but she definitely hecked up the belt. It's more of a control issue than an emotion issue, though. She likely pushed herself too hard. Why are people comparing? Stage performers are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different to Musical performers. She has a musical voice, a voice that lasts and is loud and strong, that's a musical voice so there's no need to hate.
It’s been eight years sorry but damn you’re right
and musical face, she's acting it out it made me tear eyed haha
This girl is so underrated .. she has a great voice and she continued to grow since this video.. she is great vocally in Mean Girls on Broadway.. I hope one day she gets a Tony as she is brilliant
she fully took a pop/ country song and made it musical theatre and i love that, cause at the end of the day it’s a story
the guy just staring at her 99% of the time PURE
The bridge literally brought me to tears, it was so beautiful. I freaking love Barrett. She's so adorable.
same
Bridge part??
For some reason I really love the middle section everyone is hating on. I mean I get why people don't like it, but it just sounds so emotional here
She was clearly caught up in the emotion of the song and she went for it, and she hit every note, which is hard to do at that pitch. Good for her! I expect nothing less from my queen.

Lmao this is A+ bullshit and denial. It's a bad cover.

I think it is actually full of emotion, Especially at the bridge. I understand it's people's opinions but there is no need to be horrible :)
It’s more that she screlts, she’s ALWAYS belting. It’s incredibly unhealthy and sometimes displeasing to the ear
Although, as much Taylor’s writing brings me to tears, she’s not the strongest vocalist I’ve ever heard. And Barrett has a very powerful quality to her voice, that might be catching people off guard because she is capable of more than Taylor and highlights parts of the song differently
Best cover of this song I've ever seen. You can feel the emotion and vulnerability come right through.
When she sings I always feel like she's directly taliking to somebody. She's not just singing any song, she's telling something, putting herself into words. Damn she's lovable.

I think I'm falling hard for Barrett
I think I already fell
I fell so hard that I time travelled.
Who isn’t!
You’d be crazy not to!
IM NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING
u right
NO BOTH OF US ARE CRYING
Barrett is such a talent and does this song the justice it deserves, best cover I've seen for sure✌️
this is my favorite taylor swift song and im obsessed with barrett wilbert weed like this is made for me
Now we need her singing the ten minute version nfnfjdjsja
One of my favorite songs of all the time. I love this rendition.
Some people think she is not like a God. It depends on everyone's characters and emotions, but for me she is honestly the best. So sensitive... Extremely sincere...

Imagine them doing this again, but with songs from "folklore" and "evermore". Imagine Barrett singing "exile", or "right where you left me" in her lower register.
omg imagine!
Title should be: Barrett being the most talented person as always for 5 minutes straight
Everyone should honesty stop the negativity! Barrett is an AMAZING singer; the part in the middle is BELTING! Do you people not understand? Belting is one of the most hardest things to do, and that is her specialty!
Covers aren't meant to be exactly the same as the original.

Crys Pardo and where did you get that information from? Every song that she has said she has written IS written by her
Crys Pardo you’re lying sweetheart
FlyWithYanyiii yes, and she has many co-writers. Some songs on 1989 were her producer’s tracks that she added lyrics and new sounds to
Crys Pardo check speak now the whole album and comeback to me.oh and read every quote she said about its song and the album prologue.
It took me 3 times of replay to fall in love with this cover. I get why most people don't like the bridge part, I didn't when I first listened to it, but now I do. 😉
*didn't like
That bridge... imperfectly perfect and emotional. That's how emotions are... Raw and dynamic. Loved that bridge. Got me in tears... 💟 Wonderful cover.
its been 7 years & this song is still iconic
I'm straight but I might be a lil gay for Barrett
Everyone is gay for Barrett!
Musical actors and actresses mess up people's sexual preferences
Lol who isn't xD
Aren't we all.
That's what I thought but it turned out I'm actually gay. Lol
I watch this like 20 times a day #sorrynotsorry Barrett, you're a dream.
Brigham Mosley what about today

Give this girl a TONY! 🏆
This is my favourite thing in the world. Barrett and an emotional TS song

I believe she‘s flat, but I respect her for going where the emotion took her
you can literally feel the song when she sings
This performance has a Swiftie Approved badge
she puts everything into this performance. Amazing.
She's got soo muchh emotional element...And it's marvelous.
One of the most underrated T-swift songs. SO BEAUTIFUL.
Barrett Wilbert Weed singing one of Taylor Swift's best songs is something I didn't know I needed in my life. ♡
Welp, we now need Barrett to cover the 10 minute version 💗
TWO PEOPLE I LOVE . BARRETT AND TAYLOR SWIFT
BARRETT YOU ARE AMAZING AND THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS AND TO SEE YOU PERFORM THIS MADE ME TEAR UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg she portrays the song so well, and not just because her voice is so angelic, it's because she can actually act how the song is supposed to sound, the message the song is trying to make is what she's acting like. This girl is so flipping talented I love her voice and I love her. 💙

I'll never get over how incredible this rendition of the song is.
I need more barett. ..I've heard everything.....I've need more
Still here in summer 2020? I know i am. Barrett is wonderful
The only All Too Well cover that does the song justice aaaaa
I love how her body language is not the best but somehow manages to communicate all these emotions with her voice alone
barrett wilbert weed and jessica keenan wynn are my entire sexuality.
YESSSS

Oh my god, she's perfect.
WHY THE HELL AM I FINDING THIS UNTIL NOW?! LIKE ITS 2 OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE AND ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS IN ONE VIDEO!
I walked through the door with you, the air was cold,
But something 'bout it felt like home somehow and I
Left my scarf there at your sister's house,
And you still got it in your drawer even now.
Oh, your sweet disposition and my wide-eyed gaze.
We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate.
The Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place,
And I can picture it after all these days.
And I know it's long gone,
And that magic's not here no more,
And I might be okay,
But I'm not fine at all.
'Cause there we are again on that little town street.
You almost ran the red 'cause you were looking over me.
Wind in my hair, I was there, I remember it all too well.
Photo album on the counter, your cheeks were turning red.
You used to be a little kid with glasses in a twin-size bed
And your mother's telling stories about you on a tee ball team
You tell me 'bout your past, thinking your future was me.
And I know it's long gone
And there was nothing else I could do
And I forget about you long enough
To forget why I needed to
'Cause there we are again in the middle of the night.
We dance around the kitchen in the refrigerator light
Down the stairs, I was there, I remember it all too well, yeah.
Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much,
And maybe this thing was a masterpiece 'til you tore it all up.
Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well.
Hey, you call me up again just to break me like a promise.
So casually cruel in the name of being honest.
I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here
'Cause I remember it all, all, all too well.
Time won't fly, it's like I'm paralyzed by it
I'd like to be my old self again, but I'm still trying to find it
After plaid shirt days and nights when you made me your own
Now you mail back my things and I walk home alone
But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me
You can't get rid of it, 'cause you remember it all too well, yeah
'Cause there we are again, when I loved you so
Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
Wind in my hair, you were there, you remember it all
Down the stairs, you were there, you remember it all
It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well
barrett definitely knows how to make me cry goshdarnit ;-;
Fantastic! What an amazing voice. So beautiful, so effortless singing. I will listen again.
One of my favorite gals singing one of my favorite songs
Sami Kate I KNOW RIGHT :D :D :D
SAME
I was about to cry
so in love with this girl and her voice 😊😊
OH MY GOD THAT RIFF ON YEAH AFTER THE SECOND CHORUS I WANNA LIVE IN IT
I absolutely adore this song and really admire her version. Depending on where you are in your breakup this song can be performed different ways. You know like the month later, on the day that should have been another anniversary, etc. Great depth.
the guy in the background is so relatable. i, too, stare at barrett because she is a literal goddess
OH MY GOD YES
I NEED A WHOLE ALBUM OF THIS
I love this and the guy staring at her is just 🥺♥️
Barrett is fucking amazing.
Digging her voice - she was phenomenal as Veronica in Heathers.
oh my gods, this is gorgeous
honestly, this song is very close to me and Barrett portrays the emotions perfectly❤️
is no one going to talk about the way her hand moves at 3:41???? because i love the small addition
I didn’t know I needed this video so much till I saw the title omg
in conclusion, she's amazing, i have goosebumps and i'm in tears. amazing job barrett!
My two favorite singers!! This is too perfect.
I DIDNT THINK I NEEDED THIS BUT I DEFINITELY DONT DESERVE IT
Chills. Pure chills. My favourite Taylor song. 😍💙
I am beyond happy this exists
I don’t see any reason why some hates barret, I mean, when she started belting... that’s when I felt all the emotions of the song
Taylor's version just doesn't hit the same
Taylor's is what i wanna listen to when pms hits me but barrett's is the one that makes me feel like crying with her
My favorite person singing my favorite Taylor Swift 😍❤️
ok Barrett give us the 10 minute version now
So beautiful, this is real emotion. Me personally can’t even listen to this song without tearing up so I understand.
that guy staring at her is really hot
I feel like this rendition is gorgeous, especially considering she is basically singing her feelings. So when she kinda loses her breath it may not be intentional, but it kind of adds to the performance as she is supposed to be singing such an emotional song. When Taylor Swift does a really emotional performance of it she also loses her breath as do many other singers. I feel like she is actually singing like she is using the words to currently tell her story rather than singing a song that she wrote when she was really emotional.
This is my favorite Taylor song, and I’m a theatre kid, this is incredible.
The belting honestly works so well????
first time in a long time i cried hearing this song. so much emotion was put into this.
THIS IS THE BEST! My favourite girl singing my favourite Taylor song!
This is what All Too Well would sound like if they made a musical about Taylor's album 💗 I freaking love it, and the emotion! 💓💓💓
I never thought I'd need this
Now I want her to sing the 10 min version
I wanna start with saying, I like Taylor Swift. I just find it unfair for people to bash what I find a really great cover, by people who probably didn't get what Barrett was doing in the whole song.
I've already seen people that understand what I'm saying comment here on youtube, and I find it funny that their comments go unnoticed. To all those that said Barrett destroyed this song, ask any of us why she didn't...:)
oh yeah, I also mean the bridge... The bridge was perfect, a perfect exclamation point to the whole performance...:)
STOP THESE ARE MY 2 FAVS
im sorry what- this just married my two worlds; I'm an avid swiftie and theater kid and this is so freaking amazing I'm dying gghhghf
OH MY GOD HER VOICE US GORGEOUS HERE
