+The Yellow Peril I've been watching you all from the shadows ;^). Talking off cameras; I had to buy a new Drift Ghost S, the old (BIG n daft) Drift 170 was just getting in the way and I was losing all my street cred. Thanks for hanging in there pal!
Oh god, not a Ghost S! I really need to do a video on the Drifts. Whatever your do, do not use it in the wet without the waterproof back on. Don't use it without the waterproof back if there is even the threat of rain..... actually, don't use it without the waterproof back if you're anywhere in Britain. It's not that bad, but I am really disappointed with the reliability compared to the earlier models.
+The Yellow Peril I was looking at the Sony FDR-X1000V 4K but it seemed to much hassle getting the case and mount etc etc. I just wanted a 'plug n play' sort of deal. I was aware of the problems the Ghost S has, including locking up and requiring battery removal. I was thinking of making some sort of seal for the mic at the back to make it water resistant? Is it around the rim of the cover it leaks? Sod it, do the vid mate.
***** To stop it from locking up you have to give it plenty of time to boot up. As for the leakiness: I had the same thought as you and I used electrical tape to wrap around the case/back join, and around the mic connector to reduce water ingress. Unfortunately, the camera knew what I was doing and decided to lock up meaning that I had to take all the tape off to get the battery out. About a year ago I also contacted Drift about the issue with the 2 second gap between footage when recording at 60fps. They said they were releasing a firmware update to resolve that "soon". That was about a year ago.
+The Yellow Peril I wasn't aware of the 2 second gap @60fps, hmm. I've already found the slow boot 'feature'. Maybe a different, thicker and softer seal could do the rear rim? Then there's the mic hole . . maybe something that permanently attaches to the actual 3.5mm mic plug that will seal when plugged in. I was thinking of permanently removing the battery and using an external powerbank. I need to sleep on this.
nice to see a vid from you again sorry to hear the your engine went bang but you have got it all sorted now luck you had the spare one ready when are we going to see the bm
+Samus Worth Whoaa Samus! Thanks for not jumping ship. It's been soo long since my last vid. I've always been here, just laying low. I've had all sorts of problems with the Hornet including both engines running very hot for some unknown reason. Even the local Honda centre couldn't suss it. It appears to have miraculously sorted itself out . . . (fingers crossed). Take care pal!
